BEREA, Ohio -- Cleveland Browns guard Joel Bitonio was placed on injured reserve Friday with a mid-foot sprain. Coach Hue Jackson said Bitonio is done for the season.Obviously, hes out for the rest of this year, Jackson said. Its unfortunate. Joel is one of our best players up there. It makes it a little tough. But again, well find a way.Bitonios mid-foot sprain is the latest in a wave of injuries that has affected the Browns this season. The team ranks second in the league with 17 players ruled out of games, according to ESPN Stats & Information. This is our time right now, Jackson said. Were going through it. Hopefully well get through all of these issues and our future will be bright, because maybe the injury gods will look down on us as we move forward and say, OK, you guys have had your fair share for years to come.Jackson said he did not know whether Bitonio would need surgery. Bitonio said he would visit Dr. Robert Anderson, a nationally known foot expert, next week in Charlotte. The lineman hurt his right foot after it got tangled up with other players during a Hail Mary on the last play of the first half in Clevelands loss to New England last Sunday. He played the entire second half with the injury.Youre always a little bit beat up out there, and you dont ever want to let your teammates down, Bitonio said. The Browns privately and publicly had been very happy with Bitonio, saying he had been playing at a Pro Bowl level.Hes one of the best guards in the NFL, left tackle Joe Thomas said.Bitonios injury is one of many the Browns have had on the offensive line. With Bitonio out, Alvin Bailey will move from right to left guard, John Greco from center to right guard and?Cam Erving?will start at center after missing three games with a bruised lung.Sundays game at?Tennessee?will be the fourth in a row that the Browns use a different combination on the offensive line.Jackson also said that quarterback Josh McCown will not play as he continues to recover from a broken left collarbone. McCowns absence means the Browns will face the Titans with two rookie quarterbacks. Third-round pick Cody Kessler will start, and Kevin Hogan will be the backup. Hogan was signed to the Browns practice squad just before the season opener and was promoted from the practice squad this week. The Browns also could use wide receiver?Terrelle Pryor at quarterback if needed.I feel OK, coach Hue Jackson said. I think weve practiced with the right thought process in place in case something was to happen to Cody. That well be able to function a little bit better than we did a week ago.Kessler bruised his ribs on his left side in the loss to New England and missed the final three quarters. Charlie Whitehurst replaced him and threw for 182 yards, but he hurt his knee late in the loss and was released with an injury settlement. Robert Griffin III and McCown were injured in the first two games of the season.Kesslers ribs improved enough during the week that he practiced Thursday. He will start Sunday.McCown tested his left shoulder all week, but the teams doctors and trainers decided it was wise for him to miss another game.I think hes close; I think hes really close, Jackson said. Just talking to our medical staff its the best thing to do for another week.Cornerback Joe Haden?(groin) did not take part in the teams practice -- Friday is a walk-through -- and is listed as questionable and will be a game-time decision. Its the second time Haden tweaked a groin muscle during practice.Goedkope Asics Schoenen . LOUIS -- Alexander Steen scored a power-play goal with 59.OAKLAND, Calif. -- Left-hander Cole Hamels has a gaudy 14-5 record and solid 3.42 ERA in his first full season with the first-place Texas Rangers, but has struggled down the stretch. In his past four starts, Hamels is 0-1 with a 10.50 ERA over 18 innings. He allowed 25 hits and 21 runs while walking 14 and striking out 20 during that span, which included a rough outing a week ago in Arlington against the Oakland Athletics.Hamels gave up six runs and two homers over six innings and had a no-decision in the 7-6 Rangers victory against Oakland on Sept. 16.One week later, Hamels gets a rematch against the As and right-hander Kendall Graveman on Friday night at the Oakland Coliseum. With the postseason quickly approaching, Hamels is running out of time to get back on track, but Rangers manager Jeff Banister isnt worried.I dont have a lot of concern for Cole, Banister said after Hamels last outing. This is a premier pitcher that I feel confident is going to get himself right and is going to put quality starts together for us, and hell be ready when we need him.Hamels gave up home runs to As outfielders Khris Davis and Brett Eibner last week, but also walked three batters, continuing a trend. In his past four starts he has averaged 3.5 walks. The walks hurt me again, Hamels said. Thats four games in a row where walks have really been the deciding factor. Its unacceptable on my part just in the sense of what Im capable of doing and what is expected when I go out there. The Rangers magic number to win the American League West was cut to one Thursday night when second-place Houston lost to the Los Angeles Angels 2-0.Graveman (10-10) is 9-4 with a 3.78 ERA over his past 20 outings, but had a nightmarish game two starts ago against Seattle, giving up 12 hits and eight runs over five innings in a 14-3 loss. Graveman pitched much better in his next start against Texas. He gave up fourr runs on seven hits over 5 1/3 innings.dddddddddddd He left the game with a 6-3 lead but got a no-decision.The one against Seattle wasnt good, Graveman said Wednesday. I didnt have great stuff. But I felt the one in Texas I threw the ball really well. I gave my team a chance to win. Something I didnt do against Seattle.Thats my goal every time I go out is, first off, pitch deep in the ball game, and second off, be able when I come out to say that hey, we either have a lead or a chance to win a ball game. That was one of the things you kind of take away from that, a positive attitude and get ready to get out there and face that same team again in a couple days.As manager Bob Melvin liked what he saw from Graveman against Texas.I thought he threw the ball well the last time out, Melvin said. The time before he struggled some, but last time out I thought he threw the ball well. It was really hot that night, but I thought he threw the ball the way weve seen him here the better part of the last couple months.Hamels has faced the As twice this season and has two no-decisions. On May 17 in Oakland, he gave up three earned runs over 6 2/3 innings in an 8-5 loss but allowed three solo home runs, two to Davis and one to Danny Valencia.Davis has hit 10 of his team-high 40 home runs this season against the Rangers. In 15 games versus Texas, hes hitting .370 with 24 RBI, a .444 on-base percentage and a 1.019 slugging percentage. When the As took two of three games from Texas in Arlington last weekend, Davis hit three home runs -- one each off Hamels, Colby Lewis and Keone Kela.Davis missed the final two games of Oaklands three-game series against Houston with a stomach ailment, but after an off day Thursday, is expected to return to action against Texas.
