Krazzy 4 Opens Well, U Me Aur Hum Poor

This Friday witnessed the release of two keenly anticipated films - U ME AUR HUM and KRAZZY 4. The start of U ME AUR HUM was low at several places, but better at plexes of metros. But the film picked up dramatically as the day progressed. The best part is, the reports are tremendous and the business should continue to escalate in the coming days. KRAZZY 4 opened to a better response at several screens. In fact, the opening was around 75% + at some places. The reports are fair.

The first major clash in 2008 between Krazzy 4 and U Me aur Hum has seen the Krazzy 4 winning the early stages. Krazzy 4 opened well at 70%+ and managed to do 80%+ on Saturday and Sunday at major centres. The smaller centres were also good with 60%+ buisness. The collections have fallen today as big city multiplexes are showing 30% business in the early shows. The biggest plus for the film is that it has done decent business everywhere over the weekend which will make the film safe in all circuits. The film could hit the 20 crore nett mark in week one.

U Me Aur Hum started on a low note at 40%+ on Friday but managed 70%+ on Saturday and 75%+ on Sunday but the pick up was limited to big cities like Mumbai and Delhi. The smaller centres business was just around 40% over the weekend. U Me Aur Hum has also seen a drop in collections to 35% in big city multiplexes this morning, this is slightly better than Krazzy 4 if that is any consolation. The film is being appreciated by those watching it but it is not being reflected in collections. Overall it's a wait and watch situation for the film but covering costs in all circuits may prove difficult. Mumbai and Delhi/UP are likely to fare best.

U Me Aur Hum has scored over Krazzy 4 in all the markets abroad.

Krazzy 4 grossed 50 lakhs in UK, 1.25 crore in North America and 1 crore elsewhere making it 2.75 crore in 3 days. At best the film may emerge Average in Overseas.

U Me Aur Hum has done well over the first three days by grossing 5.55 crore with UK giving 1.30 crore, North America collecting 2.50 crore and the rest of the world adding 1.75 crore. The film should emerge a good earner.

One Two Three is close to finishing its overseas run. It has done around 3.60 crore business. AVERAGE

Race has 6.75 crore in UK, 5.50 crore in North America and 7.00 crore in the rest of the world for a 24 day total of 19.25 crore. HIT

Thankfully, the film picked up on both Saturday and Sunday, but fell again on Monday. On the other hand, the 18-20 crore Juhi, Arshad, Irrfan, Suresh and Rajpal starrer, KRAZZY 4, took the initial honours getting a good first day in Bombay and the opening was good almost everywhere. KRAZZY 4 held on to its collections quite well during the weekend, though it had a big fall on Monday. In the Overseas, Kajol's presence assured that U ME AUR HUM dominated KRAZZY 4. In the UK, U ME AUR HUM grossed $338,281 as compared to KRAZZY 4's $127,384, while in the US, once again U ME AUR HUM impressed by grossing $642,923 as compared to $322,426 for KRAZZY 4.

Thanks to Kajol's popularity and also the fact that it's a family film, U ME AUR HUM has embarked upon an impressive start in the international markets. Ajay's directorial debut 'U, Me aur Hum has collected a good amount of 41 crores in just 10 days and is still going strong.

The love story was released on April 11 has Ajay himself and Wife Kajol in the lead roles.

The movie didn't fail to impress the audience and reminded the audience of the star couple's super hit film 'Pyar To Hona Hi Tha' that showed the great on screen chemistry of the two stars.

The movie has so far grossed $685,521 from the UK and $903,680 from US and is almost a semi-hit in the Overseas circuit .

While the learned (?) critics once again gave their wise decision in favour of U, ME AUR HUM , dismissing KRAZZY 4, the actual paying audiences (as always!) showed how much critical acclaim means to them!

Despite the fact that there weren't any major releases last week, both U ME AUR HUM and KRAZZY 4 dipped considerably in the major international markets. U ME AUR HUM had a 56% fall in U.K. and 73% fall in America. KRAZZY 4 was also badly hit, with a 68% fall in U.K. and 79% fall in America.
