BALTIMORE -- Dustin Pedroias absence from the Boston Red Soxs lineup Tuesday night against the Baltimore Orioles was more than merely a case of giving the hard-charging second baseman a breather.Pedroia has been dealing with soreness in his left knee for more than a week, according to Red Sox manager John Farrell. And although Farrell said there is every intention that Pedroia will be able to play again by Wednesday night, he was given a night off to undergo treatment.Its a situation hes been managing since that series, Farrell said. After [Monday] night, though, there seemed there was a little more swelling in the knee and needed a day to recover.Pedroia is having his best season since at least 2011 in large part because he has stayed healthy.
