If the large-hearted Sanjay Dutt had his way he wouldn’t say no to any of his friends.
But then it hasn’t been easy managing his schedules in recent times. And for the sake of getting his schedules getting back on the right track Dutt has to do the unthinkable, and that includes turning down his dear friends, and an invitation to be part of an event being held in Macau right now.
Says a source from Goa where Dutt is currently shooting for Rohit Shetty’s All The Best, “A prominent representative Andre Timmins from Wizcraft in Macau came twice personally to Goa to invite Sanju. He was in two minds only because the Bachchans are such a prominent part of the event. ”
Finally Dutt declined with a heavy heart.
Says the source, “He couldn’t allow producer Ajay Devgan to suffer any more. For two months Ajay waited patiently with his lavish set in Goa for Sanju to finish campaigning for the Samajwadi party. Now Sanju’s conscience wouldn’t allow him a day’s delay. He stayed back in Goa to shoot and allowed his leading lady Bipasha Basu to attend the event .” -Sampurn Media
Ajay Devgan All Set To Direct Again: “Kajol Is Not Part Of My Second Directorial Venture” June 14th, 2009 - 11:12 am ICT by sampurn By Subhash K Jha
The super-talented Kajol won’t be part of her husband Ajay Devgan’s second directorial venture . And not only because she’s busy with her pal Karan Johar’s film My Name Is Khan in Los Angeles.
Says Ajay “I’m directing a film in mid-2009. There is no role for Kajol in my next film. It’s as simple as that. The leading lady’s role in that film doesn’t suit her,” says the ever-pragmatic Devgan known to never mince his words.
This time as a director Ajay wants to return to his roots. “I haven’t done a full-on action film for ages. My next film as a director would be an actioner with an undercurrent of dark humour.Even Milan Luthria’s film that I’m acting in, is an actioner. I believe audiences want to see me back in action. In fact when I made my entry balanced between two speeding cars in Golmaal Returns people immediately remembered my entry in my first film Phool Aur Kante. The action in my directorial venture will be something unusual.” says Ajay whose directorial debut U Me Aur Hum was critically praised for its brave portrayal of the ravages of Alzheimers.
Ajay feels action scenes have become much safer now. “Earlier we had to do it all and by ourselves. I’ve broken so many bones. Now when you jump from the fifth floor you’re harnessed.Earlier you just did it, or didn’t.”
He clearly feels too much has been made out of his bonding with Salman Khan during the shooting of Vipul Shah’s London Dreams. “We hit it off well. We always have ever since we did Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam together. But we didn’t go out partying and pubbing every night together, as was reported. And we aren’t in touch with one another now that we’re back in Mumbai. We all have our work and family to attend to. And he didn’t present me with any paintings. Where did that come from? I’m right now neck-deep in producing my next film and putting together my next directorial venture.”
Ajay plays a musician in London Dreams. And it required him to alter his looks. “I needed to look cooler. So I cut my hair, grew a stubble. Salman and I play very close friends , so naturally we had to have a certain amount of bonding between us. But that’s it. What I really enjoyed was shooting in London at one go. No distractions. Vipul is one of the most organized filmmakers I’ve worked out. And I didn’t get much of a chance to miss my family. Kajol and my daughter came for a visit.”

While people tackle their obsession for white skin by slapping on fairness creams, Bipasha Basu has willingly decided to play an African in Ajay Devgan’s All The Best. Earlier, she was signed on only to play Ajay’s wife, but she bagged the second role last Friday.
The producers are not willing to compromise on Bipasha’s African makeover and have hired veteran make-up artists from Hollywood to give her the right look. Explaining Ajay’s decision to cast Bipasha in the second role, our source said, “Ajay was looking for a dusky girl to play an African. Mallika Sherawat and Tabu were approached to play that role, but things didn’t work out. Several other girls auditioned, but no one fit the bill.”
Then Bipasha, who earlier had a double role in Dhoom 2, solved the dilemma with a clever suggestion. Our source added, “She said she could play the African’s role too. Sanjay Dutt plays the African girl’s boyfriend in the film.”
However, co-producer Kumar Mangat said, “The final decision regarding that role will be taken in a couple of days.”
All The Best is directed by Rohit Shetty and co-stars Fardeen Khan and Mugdha Godse.
Once upon a time known as the Malayalam hot beauty, Asin is now becoming very popular in Bollywood. In her recent briefings she was praising her co-stars.
The first movie in Bolllywood ‘Ghajini’ which was a blockbuster hit, she appreciated her co-star Aamir Khan in all aspects. Now currently Asin is working with Ajay Devgan for the latest movie ‘London Dreams’.
She went praising Ajay Devgan’ as a non-stop entertainment channel and enjoyed work with him and said that he was a jovial person on sets. Initially she thought Ajay to be reserved and straight forward person.
Definitely Asin has all words for Ajay only to praise. Wonder what Ajay has to say about Asin now.

New-York based Wayne Sharpe was introduced to Bollywood six years ago, when a chance meeting with producer-director Prakash Jha landed him with the responsibility of the background score for Jha’s provocative movie, Gangaajal.
Apaharan followed in 2005, where Sharpe again got it right, with darkly lilting music. Sharpe’s Bollywood journey now seems to be getting bigger, as he prepares for the forthcoming Katrina Kaif- Ajay Devgan starrer Rajniti. “I’m doing the background score as well as a song for Rajniti. It has a very epic feel to it—which can support large and full background music,” says Sharpe, who is preparing for Jha’s arrival at his NYC studio, to work on the themes, sounds and a song that he’ll be composing for this film. “Like my other scores for Prakash, this too will have a very western sound with some Indian instrumentation,” he says. Sharpe works with a huge library of samples of Indian music and instruments.
And though he has heard a lot of Indian Classical music over the years, Sharpe still has to get the hang of Hindi. “Ab main kya kahoon,” he jokes, barely faltering. He acknowledges, composing for films made in languages he doesn’t understand has its own complications, but he’s learnt to work around them. “I’m learning Hindi, not through a real program though, but I spend a lot of time with the filmmaker who conveys the story and emotions to me, verbally,” says Sharpe, who is planning to take proper lessons to learn the language. In Hollywood, Sharpe has done the music for the Donnie Wahlberg-Amanda Peet starrer Southie and Pokemon among other film and television projects. And though his Indian visits are not so frequent, he keeps in touch with Indian filmmakers via the Internet. It was through emails and the phone that he worked from New York and LA on Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan’s forthcoming Lahore, a film set in India and Pakistan that deals with sports and nationalism. “I composed half the music before even meeting the director since I was sent the script in English,” he says. Sharpe’s musical influences have been Peter Gabriel, Bill Laswell and Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan but the musician he reveres is the iconic A R Rahman. “I first heard his score in Taal and I was blown away. It changed my thinking entirely about Hindi music. He blended the Western sound so beautifully and since then I have actively sought out everything he has ever done,” says Sharpe. While in the US, he’s found time to work on another crossover film with singers Sonu Niigaam and Sunidhi Chauhan for Basmati Blues. This American is here for the long run.
You will need a supercar and an invite from Gautam Singhania to join his Supercar Club of India, which will allow only 20 members
Here's another reason why you may repent not owning a supercar, which has a 400+ BHP engine and costs over Rs 1 crore.
Last Sunday, owners of super cars like Audi, BMW, Lamborghini and Porsche met at Mahalaxmi Racecourse to launch the Supercar Club of India.
Initiated by Raymond's Gautam Singhania, this only-by-invitation club hopes to curtail its membership to an exclusive 20 in Mumbai.
The club will be opened in other cities where the number of members will be restricted to 30.
The club aims to be an exclusive platform for supercar owners and enthusiasts. Regular get-togethers and track-days at supercar-friendly venues are on the list of planned activities.
Also in the offing is the formation of associations with supercar clubs across UK, Europe and the Americas to organise international automotive-related events.
Passion
"Supercars have been my passion for a long time. The idea is to create a club where like-minded people can meet.
It has been a dream to bringall the supercar owners in India on a common platform," said Gautam Singhania, CMD, Raymond.
Sanjay Dutt, Ajay Devgan, Sachin Tendulkar and the Poonawallahs are a few of the star members of the club, which has a dual criteria that the car should have a 400+ BHP engine and cost over Rs 1 crore.
Hormazd Sorabjee, editor of Autocar India, which is partnering the club, said, "The Supercar Club of India will be a forum for owners and enthusiasts to come together and share their experiences."
Members will enjoy an exclusive concierge service, association with other supercar clubs as well as prestige and performance car hire companies from across the world.
Ajay Devgan According to Ajay Devgan, he has learned patience from his daughter Nysa. This versatile actor has excelled in several remarkable roles, has also excelled in his real life role of daddy dearest. Having built a good physique and with his no-nonsense attitude, Ajay definitely makes a sexy dad!
Almost two months after his father Feroz Khan’s passing, actor Fardeen Khan is slowly beginning to piece his life together. He’s been quietly shooting in Goa for Ajay Devgan’s All The Best and though it is difficult to do laugh-out-loud funny scenes that this comedy demands, he’s being a professional. “One has to fulfill one’s professional requirements. Personal life is something that you have to deal with on your own. I try and don’t let the two overlap,” he says.
Shooting in Goa is a blessing in disguise since it has given him time to mourn privately. In this time of grief, Fardeen’s family is rallying around him. Wife Natasha was with him all along. As she recently left for London, actor cousin Zayed has now joined him. “We haven’t hung out with each other for a while and it was really sweet of him to just pop in. We’re watching movies and doing a bit of brotherly bonding. Zayed and I are like two peas in a pond. It feels good to have him around,” he smiles.
On the work front, he’s looking forward to four releases this year: Life Partner, Acid Factory, Dulha Mil Gaya and All The Best. He’s really charged up about the latter and terms it as the “perfect follow-up comedy to No Entry”. Fardeen feels the biggest strength of this Rohit Shetty-directed caper is the camaraderie that is shared by the star cast comprising Devgan, Sanjay Dutt, Bipasha Basu and Mugdha Godse. “Our bonding is translating well on screen and the audience is sure to like our scenes because we are thoroughly enjoying enacting them,” he says. Like Dutt and Devgan who have both got inked in Goa, Fardeen too plans to get a tattoo soon. “I’ll get it done in Mumbai. I’ve zeroed in on the tattoo and soon the world will see what it is,” he smiles.

Once, filmmaker Kamal Amrohi stormed out of a film function when his actress-wife Meena Kumari asked him to hold her handbag, while she went up on stage to receive her trophy.
Commenting on the event, a yesteryear actor says, “Kamal saab didn’t like the idea of being referred to as Mr Meena Kumari, even for a brief second. His ego would never permit it.”
Ditto for naval lieutenant commander Rajneesh Behl, who was not at all happy if the focus was more on him being award-winning actress Nutan’s husband. He always wished to be in command.
And, if you’re wondering why we’re digging up past skeletons, it is only to tell you that there’s a brand new breed of cool superstars, who are perfectly happy to occasionally bask in their wives’ or girlfriends’ glory. They love the fact that they have beautiful, smart and talented women as partners.
For instance, Abhishek Bachchan is ecstatic that wife Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is such a huge international star. He says, “I’m proud to be married to someone as beautiful as Aishwarya. I’m fully aware that a lot of people envy me because she is my wife.”
Abhishek has gone one step ahead and is happy to accompany Aishwarya to the Cannes film festival or the The Pink Panther-2 premiere, where the flashbulbs seek Aishwarya out more than him.
Ajay Devgan too confesses that he has no problem “minding the baby”, while wife Kajol pursues her film career. While Kajol is currently shooting in San Francisco for Karan Johar’s My Name is Khan with Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay says, “What is the big deal if Kajol shoots 60-75 days in a year? For the rest of the year, she is a hands-on mother and wife. I see no reason why she shouldn’t pursue her acting career when she is so much in demand. In fact, I’m proud of her being an actress and my wife.”
Twinkle Khanna has no desire to step in front of the camera. She laughs if you even suggest it. However, husband Akshay Kumar is completely turned on with Twinkle’s role as an international interior designer. “When Tina accompanies me to London or New York for shootings, she hardly ever comes to the sets,” says Akshay.
Akshay says there are days when Twinkle is out making work-related buys, while he looks after son Aarav. “Tina is very good at her job and very much in demand,” says the actor, who takes pride in his wife’s career and he’s happy to cheer when she receives a trophy.
Аamir Khan loves the fact that wife Kiran Rao is an independent filmmaker. He has given her carte blanche to make her film Dhobi Ghat just the way she wants to.
Then there is filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani, who is absolutely happy to let his wife pursue a career in flying (yes, Mrs Hirani flies planes). And, if a unit hand is to be believed, Saif Ali Khan is so proud of girlfriend Kareena Kapoor that he didn’t hesitate to press her feet in full view of the Golmaal Returns unit in Goa because her feet were sore from wearing stilettos.
Yeah, Bollywood’s changing and it is liberated men who are showing the way.
Unlike the rest of the world, recession may not have affected India as much, but the Hindi film industry is certainly feeling the burn. And those who have been hit the hardest are the producers and actors.
Producers are not getting enough finances, their movies are not selling anymore amongst the distributors. Actors, too have been forced to cut down their prices. Both Aamir Khan and Akshay Kumar whose films like GHAJINI (90 crores) and SINGH IS KINNG (60 crores) were sold for record sums (as indicated in the brackets), are finding the going tough.
If trade sources are to be believed, Rajkumar Hirani's Aamir-Kareena starrer, 3 IDIOTS (one of the hottest releases of the year!), has still not been sold, despite being scheduled for a Christmas 2009 release. The film is not getting the required price of well over 100 crore being demanded by the producer.
The case is similar for Shree Ashtavinayak's BLUE, which stars the bollywood biggies of Sanjay Dutt, Akshay Kumar and Lara . This project too has remained unsold due to the price factor of over a 100 crore.
Even Vipul Shah's LONDON DREAMS, which stars Ajay Devgan, Salman Khan and Asin is not finding any takers due to its high price tag. A representative of a top international production and distribution company tells that, ''They all have to come down by about 25-30 percent for the worldwide rights, as things are not as bright as they were about a year back.''
Well, there was a time when projects starring the top heroes were announced and all the territories used to close almost immediately as distributors would go for a hectic bidding to buy the films. But, alas things are not so rosy anymore and the film industry has to slog really hard to get back on its feet.
The release dates have been re-shuffled, yet again. The producers and distributors worked out the release schedule of forthcoming films, soon after the strike was called off. But with more and more films jumping in the fray, the producers and distributors met over the weekend and decided to re-work on the release schedule.
The new release dates of all major films are as follows... 26 June: NEW YORK 3 July: KAMBAKKHT ISHQ 10 July: SHORTKUT 17 July: JASHNN 24 July: LUCK 31 July: LOVE AAJ KAL 7 August: AGYAAT 14 August: KAMINEY and LIFE PARTNER 21 August to 11 September [Ramzan]: Any film can come in this period 18 September: WANTED and DIL BOLE HADIPPA 25 September: WHAT'S YOUR RAASHEE? 2 October: WAKE UP SID and DO KNOT DISTURB 9 October [pre-Diwali week]: No major release yet 16 October [Diwali]: BLUE, ALADIN and MAIN AUR MRS. KHANNA 23 October: No major release yet 30 October: LONDON DREAMS 6 November: AJAB PREM KI GHAZAB KAHANI 13 November: TUM MILE 20 November: No major release yet 27 November: DE DHAN DHANA DHAN
Note:- All relatively smaller films can release any time in the above dates. Major films like KITES, RANN, JAIL, ALL THE BEST, YAHOO, HOOK YA CROOK, QURBAN, VEER, ROCKET SINGH, 3 IDIOTS, MY NAME IS KHAN and any such films are free to release any time December 1 onwards, without any restrictions.

Vipul Shah’s London Dreams is a story of two childhood friends, played by Salman Khan and Ajay Devgan, who hail from Mumbai and struggle to become rock stars in London. Interestingly, Salman will be seen as a simple guy while Ajay will be seen in a completely hip look.
Salman who is a style icon in real life be seen wearing jeans and kurti while Ajay’s look will be a surprise package. Ajay, who loves to keep his style simple will don silver hoops and will sport a tattoo too. “Ajay looks very stylish which will surprise all his fans,” says a unit hand.
And the credit goes to designer Ana Singh who experimented with Ajay’s look. “Though he plays a guy from the rock band his look is not exactly like a rock star. I gave a complete young feel to his style. Ajay will be seen sporting lots of jackets, scarves and funky glasses and accessories. He has a different hairdo too,” revealed the designer.
The super-successful Pritam Chakraborty is a very unhappy man right now. The accusation that the track 'Hai Junoon' from New York is copied from a track 'Naluri Lelaki' by the Samsons has put the composer in a state of depression.
Defending himself, Pritam says, "When I was getting inspired by outside sources, I openly admitted it, right up to the title track in Race. Now when I am not copying from any source why am I being attacked? 'Hai Junoon' is not copied from any source. I can swear on my music on that. I've vowed never to copy from any source."
Surprisingly, the charge was leveled first by singer Pankaj Awasthi on the internet. Awasthi has sung for Pritam in New York. On Yashraj Films' request Awasthi hastily withdrew his plagiarism allegations against Pritam but the damage was done.
The latest allegation has taken its toll on Pritam's family life. "My wife is very disturbed. And I haven't slept for two nights," said Pritam on Sunday afternoon. "What is the point of success when we aren't allowed to enjoy it? The internet is filled with abuse against me. It's unfair. That's all I can say."
Pritam returned from Goa before he was assailed by these accusations. He was there for a very unusual assignment. We generally have composers settling scores before the film starts shooting, or at the most delivering individual songs before it is being shot.
But here's a case in reverse. Pritam flew to Goa this week to check out the shooting of Rohit Shetty's All The Best before composing the song.
Explains Pritam, "I understood what my producer Ajay Devgan and the director Rohit wanted. And I already had a couple of tunes in mind for the situation. But we decided I go there get a feel of the mood and then compose. Once I went to Goa I got a complete feel of the rhythm and tempo and atmosphere of the scene. I immediately knew which tune to use."
Pritam returned from Goa to these terrible accusations.
Emraan Hashmi has shot some portions of his latest flick, Once Upon a Time in Mumbai, and is glad that he consented to do the film. Though he admits he was initially sceptical about signing the Milan Luthria-directed film, he is now extremely happy with his decision.
But why was he sceptical considering this is his first crime thriller? "This was the very reason due to which I had to think multiple times before saying yes to the film," says Emraan. "When I look around, every underworld movie with crime as its base wants to be a Satya or a Company. Such has been the influence of Ram Gopal Varma’s films that they have set a benchmark for movies belonging to this genre. My first question to the makers was: is Once Upon a Time in Mumbai going to follow the same line or would it aim at breaking new ground?'"
Thankfully for Emraan, Milan and writer Rajat Arora (continuing their partnership from Taxi No 9211 and Hat Trick) had conceived their film differently.
"I was assured that Once Upon a Time in Mumbai was not just different, but also aimed at changing the preconceived notions about the way an underworld movie is presented," says Emraan. "This is something that I have also realised after shooting for bits of the film."
Still, with him coming together with Ajay Devgan in Once Upon a Time in Mumbai, one can't help but bring in comparisons around a similar 'jodi' in Company, when Vivek Oberoi was pitted against Ajay.
"Company is still fresh in everyone's memory and, as I stated earlier, it has created a benchmark,” says Emraan. “So yes, with Once Upon a Time in Mumbai, this is the very thing we are trying to change. More than that, revealing anything about Ajay or my role now would be too early."
Produced by Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor, Once Upon a Time in Mumbai has also been in news for the unconventional casting of Kangna Ranaut and Prachi Desai. Both actors have been working extensively on their looks to recreate the 70s feel.
