West Coast coach Adam Simpson admits Sundays clash with North Melbourne is his AFL clubs most-important game of the season as the Eagles attempt to end their losing run against finals contenders. The Eagles entered round 16 just one win adrift of second spot, despite failing to beat a single top-eight side so far this season.West Coast have a chance to bury that hoodoo against the seventh-placed Kangaroos at Domain Stadium.A loss to North Melbourne would severely dent West Coasts top-four hopes and, in turn, their premiership ambitions, but a win could set up their tilt at making back-to-back grand finals.Simpson is reluctant to talk about his teams top-four chances but is quick to acknowledge the importance of Sundays match.Every game is important. This one is our most-important one, Simpson said.Where are we at? Well find out a bit this week. They (North Melbourne) are in full contention for going all the way this year. The brand they play is built for finals.Weve had some really good battles with them of late.Last time we played them here (in the 2015 preliminary final) was a good result for us.Its a combative finals-type brand of football they play. Thats the exciting part for us.Sundays game is equally important for North, who have slid from first to seventh after losing four of their past five games. The Kangaroos will again be without Jarrad Waite (hip) and Daniel Wells (calf), while the Eagles have been boosted by the return of small forward Josh Hill from tonsillitis.West Coasts inability to beat premiership contenders this year has been a big talking point.Simpson has put on a brave face while fielding questions about it from week to week but he says its time for the team to show their true colours. For us to have any success this year, we have to beat sides above us - thats a given, he said.WEST COASTS 2016 RECORD AGAINST TOP-EIGHT SIDES:* Rd 2 - Lost to Hawthorn by 46 points at the MCG* Rd 5 - Lost to Sydney by 39 points at the MCG* Rd 7 - Lost to Geelong by 44 points at Simonds Stadium* Rd 11 - Lost to the Bulldogs by 8 points at Etihad Stadium* Rd 12 - Lost to Adelaide by 29 points at Domain Stadium Air Jordan Retro NZ . A late Andrew Hoole goal has denied Western Sydney a victorious start to their stay at Spotless Stadium as plucky Newcastle held Tony Popovics men to a 2-2 A-League draw. The Jets, buoyed by last weekends 4-0 shellacking of Brisbane, brought their improved attacking game to Sydney on Sunday in the hope of shocking last years grand finalists at their new temporary home ground. The Wanderers very nearly got the job done in front of a vocal crowd of 13,247, via Aritz Bordas header and a penalty goal by new club captain Dimas. But Mark Jones improved squad dug in their heels to earn a valuable away point and reiterate they should not be taken lightly this season.Jets skipper Nigel Boogaard pulled one back for the Jets with a free header in the 81st minute, his effort matched seven minutes later when former Sydney FC winger Hoole bent in a free-kick from outside the box that bounced past Wanderers goalkeeper Andrew Redmayne. While looking well beaten for much of the second half, Newcastle had started brightly.In-form Andrew Nabbout was a speedy outlet on the right wing while coach Mark Jones young back line started sturdily, 19-year-old Ivan Vujica thwarting the wriggling Jumpei Kusukami more than once.In the end it was a momentary lapse that gifted the Wanderers the opening goal.New captain Dimas sent a deep corner into the box for fellow Spaniard Borda to meet with a glancing header over the line that could have been avoided had a player guarded the back post. Then, in the shadow of halftime, Steve Lustica chipped a ball into the path of Ben Kantarovski, who committed an obvious handball in the area, making way for Dimas to step up to the spot and send Jets custodian Jack Duncan the wrong way.dddddddddddd.From there the Wanderers were quick to pounce on turnovers and made it tough for the Novocastrians to pass out of their own half. The Jets suddenly then rediscovered their impetus, Devante Clut unsuccessfully attempting to lob Redmayne and Nabbout firing wide from the edge of the box.In a massive blow, Nabbout appeared to badly hurt himself in his effort and was promptly subbed off to join injured teammate Lachlan Jackson on the sidelines.Man-of-the-match Jumpei became more and more difficult to contain, at one point roasting three defenders and forcing one of several fine saves from Duncan. But no one expected such a late comeback, delivered under pressure by Boogaard and Hoole.I was disappointed with the start, and to concede just before halftime was tough to deal with, Jones said. But mentally we wanted to hang in there ... and we thought in the last 20-25 minutes wed get something out of the game.Popovic felt the Wanderers should have finished the Jets off early in the second half. Then they started getting a lot more territory and put us under pressure, he said. You could sense that something was coming, but we certainly didnt play the last half hour like we did in the first 60 minutes.
