To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.Kan, an outside hitter for the Tigers, is a finance major who was on both the 2014 and 2015 Fall SEC Academic Honor Roll. She also was named 2014 SEC Scholar Athlete of the Year and a 2014 CoSIDA Academic All-District selection. One of four seniors on the squad, Kan has completed numerous community service hours with her teammates throughout the year.
