Sumeet’s on song 21 Dec 2007, 0000 hrs IST,Nikhila Pant,TNN

TV actor Sumeet Raghavan is making the most of his vocal skills. He surprised everyone when he reached the finals of a singing contest on a Marathi channel. But he’s not Marathi; he’s Tamilian.
He will be seen putting his training in classical singing to use again in Say Shava Shava, a celebrity singing contest on NDTV Imagine. He says, “People are amazed to know that despite being a Tamilian, I reached the finals of a Marathi singing show. My fluency in Marathi is because of my long stint in Marathi theatre.”
Sumeet sounds confident when he talks about the new show, saying, “I took up this show because it is only 11 days long. Had it been longer, I would have thought twice before taking up the offer.” Ask him why he has been missing from TV serials and he rues, “Now I can’t find any show as interesting as Sarabhai vs Sarabhai. Indian TV has become extremely boring and regular soaps are a strict no-no for me. But, I would prefer acting to reality shows any day.”
Sumeet is tight-lipped about his role in Ajay Devgan’s directorial debut U, Me Aur Hum. “I should not say anything about my role or the film lest I reveal the plot. But Ajay is a perfectionist. I enjoyed being a part of a total masala film.” Sumeet has also been shooting for Nandita Das’ film In Such Times. He maintains that he got to learn a lot on the sets of the film. “Although the film belongs to a completely genre, I am thrilled that I could work in what I’d call a piece of art. I had veterans like Raghuvir Yadav and Naseeruddin Shah as my co-actors. It is treat to watch them from close quarters. After they have read the scene, they sit silently for a few minutes and then give a perfect shot.”
Vidya Balan is known to be quite the target of tomfoolery on the sets. After Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgan, too, took his chance on the sets of Santoshi’s Halla Bol.
It was when she and Ajay had to give close-up shots. That done, she was called on the sets once again to re-give a few more. “After Ajay and I finished our close-ups, Rajji said that he would like to shoot my close up again.
By that time, I didn’t remember the lines correctly and so had to rehearse again to get it right. He kept on taking re-takes until I realised that the camera wasn’t rolling,” she laughs.
Ajay, Santoshi's prank on Vidya Balan 19 Dec, 2007 06:19 pm ISTlINDIATIMES MOVIES
Actress Vidya Balan is known to be quite the target of tom foolery on the sets. And while Akshay Kumar has had his time of fun, playing pranks on her while the making of Heyy Babyy , Ajay Devgan, too, took his chance on the sets of Santoshi's Halla Bol .
It was when she and Ajay had to give close-up shots. That done, she was called on the sets once again to re-give a few more.
"After Ajay and I finished our close-ups, Rajji said that he would like to shoot my close up again," explains Vidya, "By that time I didn't remember the lines correctly and so had to rehears again to get it right. He kept on taking re-takes until I realized that the camera wasn't rolling," she laughs.
Never mind the camera not rolling, but everyone on the sets were rolling with laughter we're sure.
... You made your directorial debut with Ajay Devgan, why aren’t you making any films with him now? I have a very special relationship with Ajay - like your first love, first car, first house - as my first hero, he remains my brother, my friend and a great actor to cast. He is busy making his film but when our dates match up we will start off on Fifty Fifty. I also have a great role for Kajol in it. ...
... For an actor who has always dabbled and experimented with her roles, what was the idea behind accepting Golmaal Returns, an out-and-out laugh-riot? I have never done a comedy and I am having a blast doing this film. It is a chilled-out atmosphere here in Goa. It has been complete madness on the sets since the last ten days that we have been here. We cannot get the scenes right in a couple of takes as all of us burst into laughter each time. This is a new experience for me and I am enjoying it. The film is a sequel to director Rohit Shetty’s Golmaal that was a complete comedy. Believe me, Golmaal Returns is going to rock as well.
What did you think of Golmaal? I have seen it and that is why I am here. Rohit is fabulous when it comes to comedy. I am fortunate to be a part of this gang. I loved Tusshar in the role of a mute guy in the film.
The two of you are coming together after a gap of almost six years. What is the equation today? I guess we are still the same as people I have always liked Tusshar. He is a sweet person. In Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai and Jeena Sirf Tere Liye, he was my boyfriend and in Golmaal Returns he is my brother. This time too he plays a mute guy and again, has done his best.
Your character in Golmaal Returns is of a hard-core Balaji buff. Are you one in real-life too? Not really but I have managed to watch some serials whenever there was time. My character in Golmaal Returns is an avid watcher of Balaji soaps, always glued to the television watching Kyun Ki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kasautii Zindagi Ki or Kahani Ghar Ghar Kii . She is always suspicious of her husband and like the leading ladies in the serials she too adorns herself with sindoor, mangalsutra and bindi. But she is a modern girl, not a saree-clad bahu. What is interesting is that her name is Ekta, like the boss of Balaji Telefilms (laughs).
After Omkara, this is your second film with Ajay. I guess we have a good chemistry between us. There is an understanding and a great comfort level as well. Ajay is a thorough gentleman. ...
Sandeep Chowta - Ayesha Takia reunite December 22, 2007 7:09:30 PM IST Joginder Tuteja, Bollywood Trade News Network
Four years after he last composed for Robby Grewal's SAMAY - THE TIME STRIKES, Sandeep Chowta is back with his composition in Rohit Shetty's SUNDAY. Though some of Chowta's songs were also heard in last year's release SANDWICH, they were composed years back and suffered from the dated arrival of the film.
Giving music for the groovy hip-hop title track of SUNDAY, Chowta also reunites with Ayesha Takia with whom he had given some chartbuster tracks in Telugu film SUPER. SUNDAY's title track has been noticed instantly for its highly urban look and feel. Shot entirely on indoor sets, the track not just features the entire cast of the film including Ajay Devgan, Arshad Warsi, Ayesha Takia, Irrfan Khan and Anjana Sukhani but also character actor Mukesh Tiwari. The song moves in a leisurely manner rather than the 'dhin-chaak' fast moving frames with cutting edge editing. In fact it's this very lazy look and feel of the song with a calendar background which makes SUNDAY an instantly catchy number to hum around.
Produced by Kumar Mangat and Sunil Lulla (of EROS), SUNDAY is an action comedy cum thriller and releasing on February 1, 2008.
... Actor Priyanshu Chatterjee votes for Ajay Devgan and Kajol. He believes that they are a source of inspiration. “This is one couple who have made their careers completely independent of each other. Both have attained super stardom in their own right and are known as competent actors. Despite the obvious pressure on them as celebrities, the way they conduct themselves is admirable. I would like to congratulate them when I meet them in person,” gushes Priyanshu.
Actor Ayub Khan too zeroes in on Ajay Devgan and Kajol but he’s equally enamoured of John Abraham and Bipasha Basu. He says, “It could be said for both of the couples that they are fantastic actors and look fabulous together.” ...
Stars step out in style 16 Dec 2007, 0000 hrs IST,TNN
The Grand Ballroom of JW Marriott was filled to capacity on Friday night as a number of Bollywood stars, noted directors and top-notch producers made their way to the venue.
Auszug:
... And as each one of Malik’s guests walked in, they were greeted warmly by him and congratulated in return. One of the first ones to arrive was Anurag Kashyap who hugged Naresh as soon as he saw him. Soon to follow was Ajay Devgan, who stepped out of his car looking dapper as usual. What was not usual was the smile on his face, as he chatted and laughed with the guests present there. A nice change we must say! ...
Sukhwinder Singh: Creatively HALLA BOL's been a challenge December 25, 2007 4:11:12 PM IST Bollywood Trade News Network
Musician Sukhwinder Singh is rocking. Not only his two songs 'Chak De' and 'Dard-e-Disco' topping the music charts, but he is also doing new activities as a musician these days.
This is the first time that Sukhwinder Singh has given music and jingle for any advertisement, that too a Pakistani milk brand 'Tarang'. He has done back ground score for HALLA BOL and this is the first time that Sukhwinder has given background score for a film. He is giving music for Subhash Ghai's BLACK & WHITE and once again it is a first for him.
Says this versatile singer and music director, "For me each and every year has been good but 2007 has been specially talked about. Every time my song or music is appreciated, I feel yet more humbled. I am lucky that my passion is also my profession. Now I am waiting for HALLA BOL, because creatively, it's been a challenge. Background music for such a film has to be a perfect tone, so it becomes strength and not a weakness."
With JODHAA AKBAR getting postponed to 15th February, a number of release dates are likely to get reshuffled. Producers with wisdom are bound to avert the clash and Kumar Mangat is one such producer.
Mangat’s forthcoming film SUNDAY, directed by Rohit Shetty and starring Ajay Devgan, Ayesha Takia, Irrfan Khan and Arshad Warsi, was initially slated for release on 1st February. Now that JODHAA AKBAR has been pushed ahead to February, Mangat has decided to re-schedule the release date of his film. In this case, the film has been preponed by one week. Instead of 1st February, the film will now release on 25th January.
Meanwhile, 2008 seems to be an eventful year for Kumar Mangat. The enterprising producer will have a series of films releasing this year, starting with SUNDAY [25th January], 123 [21st March], MONEY HAI TO HONEY HAI [23rd May] and HAAL-E-DIL [June]. All these films are Eros International presentation.

After aborted projects like SAAMNA and LONDON DREAMS, Rajkumar Santoshi and Ajay Devgan would finally have a release to their name in the form of HALLA BOL.
It may be noted that Santoshi and Devgan were touted to be a lethal combination after the former's fallout with Sunny Deol. The film maker got a taste of Devgan's histrionics for the first time in LAJJA and from that point on there was no looking back. The two came together soon in THE LEGEND OF BHAGAT SINGH and if not for the clash with many other films revolving on the revolutionist, the film would have made box office history.
Nevertheless, Santoshi bounced back with KHAKEE and though the film was a success, it is being remembered more for Amitabh Bachchan and Akshay Kumar than anyone else. Santoshi-Devgan 'jodi' didn't rest though and soon projects like SAAMNA and LONDON DREAMS were announced. While SAAMNA failed to even take off, LONDON DREAMS was aborted after the first schedule.
Now four years after KHAKEE, Santoshi and Devgan would be seen in HALLA BOL which again rests on strength of both - intensity! With dramatic promos of the film generating good curiosity, one waits for 11th January to witness fireworks explode once again.

Why was Ayesha Takia left alone on the sets of Sunday?
Ajay Devgan lived up to his reputation of being a prankster on the sets of Sunday. The cast and crew members of the film had a great time during the lengthy shooting schedule in Delhi as everybody, from director Rohit Shetty to the actors, was at the receiving end of Ajay's pranks.
Rohit Shetty said, "We had a great time as Ajay was always up to some mischief."
When quizzed about the prank that Ajay played on Ayesha, Rohit laughed and said, "We were shooting for an action sequence at a hotel in Delhi. Ayesha was supposed to stand with her back to the camera and turn when a car came close to her."
Ajay along with the entire crew planned the prank. Rohit said, "When Ayesha was standing with her back to the camera, I quietly signaled all the crew members to leave. One by one, everyone left the sets till the place was completely deserted. As Ayesha was unaware of the prank, she continued to stand with her back to us. After a long time she realised that nothing was happening and there was complete silence. She suddenly turned and was extremely shocked to find nobody around. As there were no cameras or crew members, she started screaming."
Although Ayesha was quite amused, she made sure that she checked twice before she was asked to do something after the incident.
... RGV Ki Aag (Release - Aug 31): Director Ram Gopal Varma, Bollywood’s most unconventional director failed to make a mark with his attempt to remake a classic like ‘Sholay’. The presence of veteran actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgan and Sushmita Sen were only good till the hype of the movie but bombed at the end. ... Cash (Release – Aug 03): In Anubhav Sinha direction, the action packed thriller couldn’t create any rousing sense and resulted as a loss after spending so much on cast, location and dance sequences. Though the music freak audience loved to give a first look taking the impression of its promotion trek but over all it was another box office disaster as there was nothing new in a plot less journey.
Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag Ram Gopal Varma took a huge gamble by remaking one of Hindi cinema's best films, Sholay. He even attched his name to the venture. Unfortunately, it did not pay.
RGV's Sholay was called one of the worst films he had ever made.
Amitabh Bachchan, the only star from the original film to be a part of the new one, faced a lot of flak from viewers as well as Bollywood itself, for being part of the debacle.
