Great movies coming up this year!

This year has quite a few interesting releases coming up, and we're not only talking about Akshay Kumar-starrer, Singh is Kinng.

From the stables of The Indian Film Company is Kidnap, starring Sanjay Dutt and Imran Khan. The film, which is directed by Sanjay Gadhvi of the Dhoom series, is slated for October 2.

After that, we have Golmaal Returns, starring Ajay Devgan, Celina Jaitely, Tusshar Kapoor, Amrita Arora, Arshad Warsi and Anjana Sukhani on November 7.

Next, is Ghajini starring Aamir Khan, Asin and Jiah Khan. Directed by M Murugadoss, the film will release on November 28.

Rounding off this impressive list is the comedy caper, ShortKut, starring Akshay Khanna and Amrita Rao. It is directed by Neeraj Vohra, which is set to release on December 19.

Ajay Devgan’s mother Veena was recently hospitalised due to a severe stomach infection. Ajay was so worried about her that he cancelled all his shoots to be by her side.

A close friend of Ajay says, “Ajay was shooting for his animated Toonpur Ka Superhero, when he got a call informing him that his mother was very unwell. He immediately rushed her to the hospital.” Kumar Mangat, Ajay’s business manager chose to play the situation down by saying, “Yes it is true that Ajay’s mother was admitted but everything is fine now.”

Ajay Devgan injured his back severely while performing a stunt for Kumar Mangat and Eros International’s Toonpur Ka Superhero.

Reportedly, Ajay who already had a stiff back, performed this highly taxing stunt after five years - he last did an action-role in Harry Baweja’s Qayamat in 2003. Since it was a frontal shot, the stunt had to be performed by Ajay himself rather than a stuntman.

Our source revealed, “Since Ajay already had a stiff back, he was in two minds about doing the stunt. He knew that the impact of it would be on his back. However, he did not want to delay the shoot any further as it was already stalled for five days because of his mother’s illness. So he went ahead with it.”

Ajay’s office confirmed that excessive strapping had a strain on Ajay’s back. The spokesperson said, “Too much of harness has taken a toll on Ajay’s back. On Thursday evening, the shot for Toonpur Ka Superhero required him to be strapped up.

At the push of a button, which was hydraulically powered, Ajay was thrown off to a height of around 25 feet above ground level. The stunt was required to portray a scene in this animated film, wherein Ajay is blown up by the villain from the toon world. Right now Ajay is recuperating at home, but will be back in action very soon!”

Am Dienstagabend musste er für eine Szene in TKSH mit Gurten gesichert werden. Durch einen Knopfdruck wurde Ajay dabei mit Hydraulikunterstützung knapp acht Meter in die Höhe geschleudert. Der Stunt war notwendig, um zu zeigen, wie eine böse Trickfigur aus dem Film Ajay in die Luft sprengt. Jetzt erholt sich Ajay zu Hause und wird bald wieder zurück im Geschäft sein."

Mumbai (PTI): The dreaded underworld, which ruled the roost in Mumbai during the 70s and 80s, will be brought alive on celluloid.

"Once upon a time in Mumbai," to be directed by Milan Luthra, is produced by Suneil Shetty's Popcorn Entertainment and Balaji Telefilms.

Sanjay Dutt, Ajay Devgan and Emran Hashmi have been approached to play pivotal roles of the underworld dons who called the shots during that period, sources told PTI.

While Devgan has been offered the role of Haji Mastan, Emran has been approached to play the role of a young Dawood Ibrahim, sources added.

The script and screenplay is written by Luthra himself.

"The project is in pre-production stages and will go on floors later this year or early 2009. The casting is still in the initial stages and nothing has been finalised," sources said.

Haji Mastan even produced a few films and Amitabh Bachchan's "Deewar" is said to be inspired by his life while "Nayakan" is said to be based on Vardharajan's life.

Luthria will noch keine Details verraten. Auch nicht, ob es in dem Film namentlich um die drei Dons geht oder ob sie nur das Vorbild für die Filmfiguren liefern, da sie nun einmal in diesem Punkt die 70er Jahre geprägt haben.

Laut neuer Gerüchte soll diese Rolle Ajay Devgan angeboten worden sein, während Emran Hashmi für den jungen Dawood Ibrahim angedacht ist. Sanjus Rolle wird hier nicht näher spezifiziert. Die Dreharbeiten sollen entweder Ende 2008 oder Anfang 2009 beginnen.

With Toonpur Ka Superhero Ajay Devgan is back to action after five years (Qayamat) and the heavy-duty action scenes have laid him up in bed.

A unit member says, "After resuming the shoot on Tuesday ('Mommy takes ill'; HiTLIST, July 30) Ajay was shooting for some action scenes with Hollywood action director, Jack Gill, and he sprained his back. The action scene required the actor to fight the evil characters of Toonpur all the time hanging on cables and wires."

On Thursday, Ajay started complaining of a stiff and sore back after being hung on a cable for hours. The actor refused painkilling injections and medicines as he wanted to be focussed on the shot and not get muzzy-headed. Says a source from the unit, "But Ajay didn't want to take a break as he's very excited about doing action after five years but yesterday, finally, he had to rest as his back got steadily worse."

Ajay admits, "Yes, my muscles have stiffened because I am doing kick-ass action after a long time. I felt stiff on Thursday and Friday but now I am fine. These things happen. I am very excited about the action in Toonpur."

Shortlisted

Ajay, producer Kumar Mangat and director, Kireet Khurana had short-listed eight top international stunt directors but Ajay had selected Jack as he was very impressed with his body of work which includes Wild Hogs, The Invasion, The Reaping, Mission Zero.

Jack Gill costs big bills!

Five lakh a day as his fees plus one lakh for food and lodging (at the JW Marriott hotel) for 56 days which adds up to a whopping Rs 3.36 crore. Kumar Mangat says, "We don't get the kind of equipment in India of the kind that Jack has got with him, the vision to execute it and people who can carry out this vision. Though he's expensive, Jack is a great action director. The end justifies the means."

The actor complained of chest pain on Monday afternoon

Ajay Devgan was rushed to Holy Family Hospital in Bandra, Mumbai on Monday afternoon by Rohit Shetty and Anil Devgan. Our source reveals that around 3 pm IST, the actor experienced chest pain while shooting for his film, Toonpur Ka Superhero at Mehboob Studios.

According to the latest reports, Ajay's condition is much better now and he is being kept under strict observation in intensive care, under Dr Brian Pinto. But Ajay has warned everyone not to tell his family about his condition.

A huge crowd of fans and curious onlookers gathered near the hospital.

Indian actor Ajay Devgan is playing away from home and his wife is not aware of it.

The versatile actor is using the Internet to socially interact with his fans, which is normal… however it becomes abnormal when you start asking them to send in their photos. And this is exactly what Ajay is requesting from his female followers.

These days Ajay Devgan is all excited to know more about animation films. Well, why not? Animation is going to be the next big thing in Bollywood and the U, Me Aur Hum director is leaving no stone unturned to gather information on the same.

The next project of the Devgan’s is an animated flick, Toonpur Ka Superhero. This will be India’s first live action animation film with only Ajay Devgan and Kajol playing live characters. The duo has already started shooting for the film. Speaking on the same Ajay writes, “Day 2 of my shoot on the sets of Toonpur... this will be the second schedule which will last till the first week of September.”

Apparently, Ajay who plays himself in the film, falls into the animated world of toons and becomes a hero to them. “It looks like am going to turn green without the presence of chlorophyll in me, reason being, I am shooting only against green background for this entire schedule. But it is so much fun when I watch myself on an offline monitor and realize the way I am going to look as I perform along with the animated characters in their toon world.”

He continues, “Apparently there are more than 200 people working 24x7 behind the scenes in creating and developing the characters and getting them all in sync. Kudos to the entire team of Toonpur Ka Superhero .”

Aamir Khan is the brand ambassador of The Times of India’s Lead India Campaign. The bubbly Priety Zina is associated with the cleanliness campaign while Hema Malini and her daughters, Esha and Ahana Deol are anti female. Shedding all cynicism, if we look at their endeavor as nothing but an effort to do something fruitful for the society, it is surely worth applause.
