Golmaal Returns fetched massive shares from Mehul Cinema in Muland. In nine days it had a nett gross total of 7,50,391.60 which gave a huge distributor share of 5,57,534.00. It was a new All Time Record at the theatre.
When the film is right then single screens can still be huge earners, a similar nett business in a Mumbai multiplex would have yielded a distributor share of just 3.75 lakhs whereas the single screen gave more than 5.50 lakhs.

While all talks are centered on the box office performance of RAB NE BANA DI JODI and huge expectations from GHAJINI, two films that have silently reached the 50 days milestone are GOLMAAL RETURNS and FASHION. Tomorrow, the films would be entering their 8th week and though the number of cinemas where they are showing isn't too high (~10), the fact remains that collectively these films have resulted in the industry turning richer by a few crores.
GOLMAAL RETURNS is looking at ending its run at 54 crores while FASHION has done close to half of it with 29 crores in its kitty. For its directors, both the films have proven to be the biggest ever money spinner of their careers. For Rohit Shetty and Madhur Bhandarkar, GOLMAAL and PAGE 3 held an earlier record of being their biggest successes ever.
Post the success of these two films, most of the actors associated with them have benefited.
Let's talk about GOLMAAL RETURNS first. Ajay Devgan, who was waiting for a hit to happen to him after HALLA BOL (which failed) and U ME AUR HUM (which did decent, though not extraordinary business), GOLMAAL RETURNS, was a much needed breather. Tusshar Kapoor is already talking about raising his price after the film's success while Shreyas Talpade has got another mainstream success under his belt.
On the other hand, the person who has benefited most out of FASHION is Priyanka Chopra who saw the film arrive at theaters after 5 successive flops of hers. Acceptance of FASHION came as a shot in the arm for her and she only made it a double bill for her with DOSTANA too hitting the bull's eye.
As for Rohit and Madhur, they have continued to consolidate their box office standing and are busy working on their next projects. However, the exact details of these projects are yet kept under the wraps and would be announced by the makers at the opportune time.
