Golmaal Returns Set For A Big Start Tuesday 28th October 2008 09.00 IST Boxofficeindia.Com Trade Network
Golmaal Returns looks set to embark on a big start all over. The film is having good advances all over the country. At places the advance booking is like a Shahrukh Khan or Akshay Kumar starrer.
The advance booking is very good in comparison to other movies released this year. The biggest advance this year was for Singh is Kinng followed by Race and Kidnap.
The advance for Golmaal Returns is similar to Race which means below Singh Is Kinng but better than Kidnap. Based on this, the first day business should come in somewhere between 6 and 7 crore nett.

Golmaal Returns has started with a bang this morning. The big opening was expected as soon as first promos came out and it has opened big all over as expected.
The collections were excellent all over for the morning shows and afternoon collections are showing full or near full houses. Golmaal Returns being a sequel to a successful film (excellent after release on satellite and home video) and today being a holiday has all benefited the film immensely.

Golmaa Returns is a sure shot hit and possibly Super Hit if it sustains into second week. The film started with excellent collections in the morning and is doing extraordinary well in the evening shows across the country. The bookings are extremely strong for tomorrow as well which means the film should record excellent figures over the extended weekend.
The opening for the first day is earth shattering and a bumper 95-100%. The film has matched historic openers like Om Shanti Om and Singh Is Kinng on day one in terms of capacity though the film has been released on a lesser volume of shows than those films.
Today being a holiday has aided the film but the opening is the best ever for an Ajay Devgan starrer in recent times by a distance.

Single screens in small centres are phenomenal and best ever beating likes of Dhoom 2, Om Shanti Om and Singh Is Kinng. Another 150 cinemas approx have been added from today. Below are the two day nett figures from centres around India.

Golmaal Returns has a grossed a huge 31 crore nett over its extended 5 day weekend. The film has done bumper business all over India. At some places the business was even better than Singh Is Kinng. The opening of Golmaal Returns is way above anything anyone expected as it heads towards over 40 crore business over its extended first week.
In comparison to the biggest openers, the first five day nett business of Om Shanti Om was in a similar range as Golmaal Returns while Singh Is Kinng was higher at 35 crore.
But heavyweights like Om Shanti Om and Singh Is Kinng were big budget affairs at 35-40 crore while Golmaal Returns is more of a medium budget film at 25 crore.

... Checking out the performances of the two 'Diwali' releases, Rohit Shetty's GOLMAAL RETURNS and Madhur Bhandarkar's FASHION, they went the expected way. The first release, Rohit Shetty's GOLMAAL RETURNS, released (thru Studio 18/Indian Films) at 61 cinemas of Bombay city and suburbs, last Wednesday, increased by another 30 cinemas on Friday, took an earth shattering start. Outside of Bombay, the opening was bumper everywhere, from North to South and East to West. Collections throughout the 5–day weekend were good to superb. Trade predicts that given the bumper start it has taken, GR will keep the territorial distributors and the exhibitors happy and smiling, but cautions the worldwide distributor, Indian Films, to hold on to the celebrations, owing to the heavy price it has paid for the film. The second 'Diwali' release, Madhur Bhandarkar's FASHION, released at 60 cinemas of Bombay city and suburbs (by UTV Motion Pictures) last Wednesday, increased by another 25 cinemas on Friday, saw a very good opening in the multiplexes. In other circuits, opening was very good in the big cities. However, collections started dropping markedly on the second and third day. Trade predicts that FASHION has novelty value but lacks in entertainment for the masses. It will do well in the multiplexes of the big cities but not elsewhere. Considering its cost, FASHION would find the going tough, especially because such adult fares don't fetch too much from sale of the satellite rights. As per the initial results the 5–day weekend has seen GOLMAAL RETURNS netting an astonishing 31 crores and FASHION collecting 15.90 crores from India. In the Overseas, GOLMAAL RETURNS has grossed a decent $309,836 in the UK while FASHION has been totally rejected with poor grosses of $33,715 from UK and $105,812 from US. ...

The recently released Golmaal Returns from Shree Ashthavinayak Cine Vision Ltd's kitty has made 72 Crores gross at the box-office in the Opening week itself worldwide and is still consistently going strong in the theatres.
This laughter riot movie which consists of some of the biggest stars sure has won the audiences without a doubt.
The sequel to the previous Golmaal, had major expectations after the success of Golmaal and needless to say, it sure has lived up to the mark! The movie starring Ajay Devgan, Arshad Warsi, Shreyas Talpade and Tusshar Kapoor along with Kareena Kapoor, Amrita Arora, Celina Jaitley and Anjana Sukhani had a grand opening owing to its Diwali release.
Well they may have made the audiences roll with laughter with their endearing performance's, but looks like it's the makers who are having the last laugh!
Both EMI and EK VIVAAH... AISA BHI are damp squibs in the international markets. EMI, relying on star power, has failed to attract the attention of moviegoers, while EK VIVAAH... AISA BHI is a complete washout... GOLMAAL RETURNS is holding fairly well in U.K., while FASHION remains on the lower side.
