Wembley Arena comes to Karjat!

You cannot dream London bigger than this. Bollywood filmmaker Vipul Shah is recreating the famous Wembley Arena of London at Karjat for his Salman Khan, Ajay Devgan, Asin film London Dreams.

This is the same indoor auditorium opposite the famous football stadium in Wembley where the likes of Sir Elton John, Madonna, Beyonce and Rihanna have performed to packed audiences. Vipul’s Wembley at Karjat will house 90,000 people for his shoot. Which, in Bollywood history, is unprecedented; not even the magnum opus Jodhaa Akbar had so many people involved in its grand battle sequences. Vipul intends covering his shoot with 30 cameras. “

It’s a concert sequence for which art director Nitin Desai is creating a replica of Wembley Arena here. Managing the crowd, conducting the shoot, is going to be a great task for us. But this sequence is vital for the narrative of the film,” said Vipul.

With already many stories going around in the industry circles about Salman Khan’s dream project Veer either being stalled or shelved, Salman too seems to be giving it a step motherly treatment. It is now learnt that Salman has suddenly put the film on hold for another project. Salman and Ajay Devgan left for Chandigarh to complete Vipul Shah’s London Dreams.

Sources inform, “Veer has been in trouble due to recession. It was heard that the budget of the film had also been cut down for the same reasons. The film was earlier mounted on a very lavish scale and was said to be going into crores. But the financiers and producers could not fund the film after the recession hit the industry. Sources now inform that Salman had booked his dates for Veer from January 5 onwards. But after some differences with the financers and the producers took place recently, Salman left for Chandigarh early in the morning.”

Producer P J Singh of London Dreams informs us, “Yes, its true. Salman and Ajay have left Mumbai to Chandigarh. They will be reaching Chandigarh and will be shooting from today onwards. Salman will be shooting till January 16. We will be picturising the start portion of the film. How Ajay comes to Chandigarh from London to meet his dear friend Salman. Songs will also be picturised in this schedule. Asin will be joining them for this shoot. After this schedule there will be one schedule pending which will be shot in Mumbai and the film will be complete”

London Dreams is about a rock band in England. Salman and Ajay, who are shown as childhood friends in the movie play the role of rock musicians. Salman is playing a Punjabi guy in the movie. Vipul Shah is directing this film.

The analysis took the form of an extensive survey (from 16th to 29th Dec.) conducted online amongst those who really matter - the consumers. Spanning regions as diverse as India and South-East Asia to the European Union and USA-Canada, the user had to select his/her 5 most anticipated movies. To ensure complete transparency and accuracy, a three level authentication check with email validation, cookie check and IP mapping was put into place.

The hot list of the Most Awaited Movies of 2009* truly proved to be the voice of the masses, garnering an overwhelming response. A 14-day survey, conducted between 16th Dec. to 29th Dec. saw humongous number of valid responses, thus zoomingly surpassing our expectations like a tornado! Results were compiled based on votes from 72 countries - countries which constitute about 98% of revenue towards Bollywood releases.

The poll threw up several interesting results generating quite a buzz in the industry.

7) Pankaj Kapur laughing at villains on being threatened (HALLA BOL)

It's a pity that not many people would have seen this scene since not just was HALLA BOL a resounding box office failure, it hasn't even done do well on the DVD circuits. Still, if at all you haven't watched this under rated Raj Kumar Santoshi film till date, watch it at least once just for this particular scene where Pankaj Kapur is threatened. As a dacoit turned social worker and reformer, he is shown to be surrounded by villains and their henchmen who are not too kind to him with their words. Standing at a poolside, he coolly listens to them before simply walking away after giving them a verbal cuddle, akin to the kind that one gives to a baby. A clap worthy sequence which brought a different facet of Pankaj Kapur's personality, it has to be seen to be believed.

Chandigarh, Jan 6 (IANS) A Chandigarh-based non-government organisation (NGO) Tuesday filed a complaint against Bollywood actor Ajay Devgun for allegedly smoking at a public place.

"We have submitted a written complaint at the offices of senior superintendent of police and director of health services, Chandigarh. They have assured us of appropriate action against the the actor after probe," Hemant Goswamy, chairperson of Burning Brain Society, told IANS.

Devgun, who had come to Chandigarh Monday for the shooting of a Bollywood film, was clicked by a photo journalist while smoking at the Chandigarh airport.

The city became the first smoke-free city of India as it was officially declared so July 15, 2007. Smoking is banned at all the public places as well as any place where the public has any access.

Devgan, der am Montag nach Chandigarsh gekommen war für den Dreh eines Bollywood-Films, wurde von einem Journalisten auf einem Photo festgehalten, während er auf dem Chandigarh Flughafen rauchte.

Die Stadt wurde zur ersten rauchfreien Stadt Indiens, so wurde es am 15. Juli 2007 offiziell erklärt. Das Rauchen ist an allen öffentlichen Plätzen sowie jedem Platz an dem das Publikum Zugang hat, verboten.

Mohali (Punjab), Jan 7 (IANS) A Chandigarh-based voluntary organisation Wednesday filed a complaint against Bollywood actors Salman Khan and Ajay Devgan for allegedly smoking at a public place.According to the complaint, the Bollywood stars violated the tobacco control law by smoking inside the bogie of a train, while shooting for a movie at the Kurali railway station, in Mohali district, some 35 km from Chandigarh.

"We have registered a written complaint against both of them with the Railway Protection Force Wednesday. A private news channel has the clippings of the actors while smoking at a public place," Hemant Goswamy, chairperson of Burning Brain Society, told IANS.

"They have violated the provisions of section 4 of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act, 2003. Besides, they have also violated the section 167 of the Railway Act that prohibits one from smoking at the railway station or inside the rail bogie," Goswamy said.

Both actors came to Chandigarh Monday for the shooting of a Bollywood film.

The same NGO also filed a complaint Tuesday against Devgan with the Chandigarh police and the director of health services for smoking at a public place.

Devgan was also photographed by a photo journalist while smoking at the Chandigarh airport Monday.

Beide Schauspieler trafen am Montag wegen Dreharbeiten für einen Bollywoodfilm in Chandigarh ein. Bereits am Dienstag machte dieselbe Organisation eine Anzeige gegen Devgan bei der Polizei und der Gesundheitsbehörde wegen Rauchens in der Öffentlichkeit. Devgan wurde von einem Journalisten am Flughafen beim Rauchen fotografiert.

MUMBAI: After the success of Golmaal Returns, director Rohit Shetty is all set to return with yet another comedy titled Pocket Money.

Pocket Money is being produced by Ajay Devgan and Kumar Mangat and stars Ajay Devgan, Sanjay Dutt and Fardeen Khan. Speaking to Businessofcinema.com, the movie's dialogue writer, Sajid (from the Sajid Farhad duo) says, "We are in talks with Katrina Kaif to play the leading lady in the film.

The film is scheduled to go on floors by March 2009. At the time of filing this story, Shetty, who is busy with the pre-production of the film, was unavailable for comment.

One of the keenly awaited movies of this year is the Ajay Devgan- Salman Khan-Asin starrer London Dreams directed by Vipul Shah. After completing major portions of the film in London and Paris, the cast and crew are now busy canning some scenes in and around Chandigarh.

Salman and Ajay were spotted shooting for the film at a railway station in Mohali and what was most interesting was their get-ups. While Ajay was looking cool wearing a mud colored jacket (on top of a bright red T-shirt) and jeans, it was Salman who was seen in a rather amusing avatar. Sallu was dressed as a typical person from the interiors of Northern India sporting an ordinary checked shirt with a sweater and a pagdi.

If the buzz is to be believed, both Salman and Ajay play rock stars in the film. However, going by this picture, it seems that Salman's character would definitely need a makeover before he can qualify to be anywhere close to a rock star. Wonder if that is where Ajay is dragging him...for an immediate makeover. What's your guess?

Wenn man den Gerüchten glauben schenken darf, spielen Salman und Ajay Rockstars in dem Film. Wenn man sich jetzt die Fotos anschaut, sieht es so aus, als ob Salmans Charakter kleidungstechnisch noch einen ziemlichen Weg vor sich hätte, um auch nur in die Nähe eines Rockstar-Outfits zu gelangen. Schleppt ihn da Ajay gerade vielleicht gerade hin - zum Typberater? Was meint Ihr?

Chandigarh, Jan 8 - Bollywood star Ajay Devgan kept some Chandigarh police officials waiting for over two hours at Taj hotel here. Guess, for what? Wrong, in case you thought for an autograph!

The police officials waited endlessly for the star Wednesday night for Rs.200 -- the fine imposed on him for smoking at the airport in the smoke-free city.

Despite the long wait, the actor did not appear before the police officials, who were waiting in the hotel's lobby.

The fine was imposed after an NGO filed a complaint Tuesday accusing Ajay Devgan of allegedly smoking at the Chandigarh airport Monday.

'I talked to Devgan over the phone and the producer of his film has assured us that they will pay the challan,' Bhupinder Singh, investigating officer, told IANS Thursday.

Ajay Devgan had come to Chandigarh Monday for shooting of a film.

'Paramjit - tried to put pressure on us by calling top officials of the Punjab government. He even told us that police have already issued a challan to Devgan,' a police official, who was present on the spot, told IANS on condition of anonymity.

Chandigarh became the first smoke-free city of India July 15, 2007. Smoking here is banned at all public places.

Ajay Devgan was also fined Wednesday at Kurali in Mohali, around 35 km from here, for allegedly smoking at a railway station there.

Devgan's actress wife will not be part of his second directorial venture

Kajol won't be part of her husband Ajay Devgan's second directorial venture. And not just because she's busy with her pal Karan Johar's film My Name Is Khan in Los Angeles.

Says Ajay, "I'm directing a film in mid-2009. There is no role for Kajol in my next film. The leading lady's role doesn't suit her," says Devgan.

Back in action

This time, as a director, Ajay wants to return to his roots. "I haven't done a full-on action film for ages. My next film as a director would be an actioner with an undercurrent of dark humour.

Even Milan Luthria's film that I'm acting in, is an action film. I believe audiences want to see me back in action.

The action in my directorial venture will be something unusual." adds Ajay whose debuted as a director with U Me Aur Hum.

Enjoying London

Ajay is presently working on his next project, " I'm right now neck-deep in producing my next film and putting together my next directorial venture." He is also gung-ho about London Dreams with Salman Khan. Devgan plays a musician in London Dreams. And it required him to alter his looks. "I needed to look cooler.

So I cut my hair, and grew a stubble. Salman and I play very close friends, so naturally we had to have a certain amount of bonding between us. But that's it. What I really enjoyed was shooting in London at one go. No distractions.

Vipul is one of the most organized filmmakers I've worked out. And I didn't get much of a chance to miss my family. Kajol and my daughter came for a visit."

Ich glaube, dass mich das Publikum wieder in Action sehen möchte. Die Action in meinem Regie Projekt ist etwas ungewöhnlich." fügt Ajay hinzu.

Genießt London

Ajay arbeitet momentan an seinem nächsten Projekt, " Ich stecke im Augenblick kniefief in der Produktion meines nächsten Films und meines Regie Projekts."

Er ist auch über London Dreams mit Salman Khan sehr übereifrig. Devgan spielt in London Dreams einen Musiker. Und es erforderte von ihm, sein Aussehen zu ändern. " Ich musste cooler aussehen. Also schnitt ich meine Haare und habe einen Dreitagebart. Salman und ich spielen sehr enge Freunde, also mussten wir einen bestimmten Teil an Bindung zwischen uns haben. Aber das ist es.
Was ich wirklich genoß, waren die Dreharbeiten in London. Keine Ablenkungen. Vipul ist einer der organisiertesten Filmemacher mit denen ich gearbeitet habe. Und ich hatte keine Gelegenheit meine Familie zu vermissen. Kajol und meine Tochter kamen zu Besuch."

The location was a railway station in Chandigarh. The temperatures were uncomfortably low and the trains were at a halt. And why wouldn’t they be? One of their passengers was a hot headed muscleman in sync with the role in his latest flick. Salman Khan was dressed as an archetypal village Punjabi munda and looked as handsome as ever. The actor was shooting for Vipul Shah’s London Dreams. From what we’ve seen and heard, Salman’s character in the film is strikingly similar to professional rival Akshay Kumar’s in Singh Is Kinng. Sallu reportedly plays a simple desi dude who yearns to go abroad. His love interest in the film is a polished NRI played by Ghajini star Asin (do we spot a likeness to Katrina’s character in Singh Is Kinng?). But wait, there’s a second guy in the picture. Ajay Devgan is supposedly Sallu’s passport to the world outside India. Well, that’s what it seems like from what we saw on the sets of London Dreams. Watch to make your own assumptions.

Sallu playing a rockstar, one can fathom but Ajay is known to play more of serious, sober, and intense characters. Hence, it would be quite a refreshing change to see the 'Deadly Devgan' in a different avatar this time round. A user sent us these pics of Ajay Devgan's from the sets of London Dreams and by the looks of it, he indeed seems to have got a makeover for this particular character. In what seems like a song sequence, Ajay is seen sporting a cool look- with spiked hair, cool glares, a dark jacket and a scarf tied around his neck. As he serenades the mike, one can't fail to notice the pair of earrings that he is wearing.

Seems like Ajay indeed believes in getting completely into the skin of the character for each of his roles.

Ein User hat uns die Fotos von den Dreharbeiten von LD geschickt, und wie es aussieht, scheint er wirklich eine Wandlung durchgemacht zu haben. In dieser Tanzszene, wie wir vermuten, sieht Ajay sehr sportlich aus: kurzes, gegeltes Haar, coole Brille, dunkle Jacke und Schal um den Hals. Und wie er so ins Mikro singt, kann man auch die Ohrringe nicht übersehen, die er trägt. Scheint wirklich, dass Ajay die Charaktere seiner jeweiligen Rolle wirklich lebt.
