One schedule later, Once Upon A Time... is stalled
By: Amul Sharma Date: 2009-12-01 Place: Mumbai
Producer Ekta Kapoor and director Milan Luthria seem to be having issues. The filming of the film Once Upon a Time... has been halted after only a single schedule.
The movie went on floors in May earlier this year and after an initial shooting stint, the work on the film has been stuck. It was a prestigious film for both the producer and director, but the creative differences between them are hurting the film.
Dates wasted
The source added, "Ajay Devgn, who is one of the leads in the film, had blocked his dates for the film, but since no shooting happened, he gave those dates to other projects. As this is a multi-starrer (Emraan Hashmi, Kangna Ranaut, Prachi Desai along with Devgn) the dates of many actors have been wasted. When it was launched, OUATIM was supposed to be completed by the year-end and was going to have an April-May 2010 release. But now because of the delay, the release date of the film might be pushed back. Ekta says, "There are no creative differences between Milan and me because I haven't even seen the rushes or a single frame of the film. We completed a schedule in September, which only had Emraan in it and seven days of work with Ajay. We were to have the second schedule in October but Milan felt it would be more economical to shoot it in December and that's why we are now combining both the schedules in December."
As far as the film getting delayed she says, "We were to release the film in May but now we might be releasing in July as May has six releases."
Ajay Devgn is missing his wife Kajol a lot these days.
Kajol is in Sydney shooting with Kareena Kapoor for good friend Karan Johar’s Bollywood version of Stepmom. Kareena has her beau Saif Ali Khan, her best friend and filmmaker Lovely Singh for company in Sydney. However, Ajay who is wrapping up a couple of movies back-to-back can’t fly out there to be with Kajol. So guess what he has been doing. He is actually using Kajol’s car — the one he gifted her on August 5 (her birthday). Sources say the actor never uses Kajol’s car. But since he is missing his biwi so much, he feels driving around in her car, can fill some of the void. Told ya, these two Bollywood superstars are definitely a couple in love.
Ajay Devgan took his father Veeru Devgan and ma-in-law Tanuja to Siddhivinayak temple, Mumbai recently and lived up to his 'good-son' and a better 'son-in-law' image. Accompanying him was friend Rohit Shetty and Manyata Dutt. Take a look!
Anil Kapoor is a charmer. Yeah, even after three decades in the industry he can charm just about everyone with his smile and candid
Recently, Anil who was supervising the sets of his next production No Problem at a suburban studio bumped into Ajay Devgn who was shooting on the next floor for Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge? Anil who has acted with Ajay’s wife Kajol in Hum Aapke Dil Mein Rehte Hain, one of the biggest hits in his career, walked up to Ajay hugged him and said, “I wonder why the two of us have never worked together?
Ajay also expressed surprise. Later Anil was heard saying that he had tried to get Ajay to play one of the leads in his No Problem.
But somehow there were those spoilsports who kept telling him Ajay may not do one more comedy because he had just wrapped All the Best. “I should never have listened to people,” said Anil. “If I had asked Ajay, he would have been part of my project.” Now Anil is determined that if he makes a sequel to No Problem, he will definitely try and rope in AD.
Yesterday, we shot the final patchwork of kids' reaction shots for the climax sequences at Filmistan. That concludes all live-action shoot of TKS. Also bumped into Ajay Devgn yesterday at Filmistan. I was pleasantly surprised to know that he has been more updated with TKS final composited live-animated combo scenes than I thought. He has been proactively watching them fresh out of the oven straight from the editor's desk! He conveyed his excitement on the results - that gives more impetus to the direction & animation team. :)
The 1st draft of the entire finished promo song "Passport" is just reaching my Climb Media office for feedback. Interesting song choreographed with live dancers, Ajay Kajol and toons dancing along with them against a CG created airport. Should be on air 1st quarter next year hopefully. Cheers.
Drops in while she's shooting and spends quality time with her
Contrary to speculation, Konkona Sensharma and Ranvir Shorey haven't split up.
In fact, the couple not only brought in Konkana's birthday together on December 2, but also celebrated it again the next day on the sets of Amita Pathak's Atitithi Tum Kab Jaoge? where Konkona was shooting with Ajay Devgn.
Says a source from the sets of the film, "There was recent speculation that Ranvir and Konkona had cancelled their wedding in December.
But they were never supposed to be getting married in December as Konkona had given her dates for Atitithi Tum Kab Jaoge? to Amita till December 15.
On Thursday morning, Ranvir dropped in while Konkona was shooting at Filmistan Studios and stayed the whole day with her."
The source added, "As Konkona had high fever for a few days, Ranvir was extremely concerned about her health and kept asking her if she had taken her medications on time.
They had lunch together and he left a little while later.
After pack-up Amita, her father Kumar Mangat, Ajay and the rest of the cast and crew cut Konkona's birthday cake, which was a surprise from Amita."
No fuss
Said Amita Pathak, "Yes Ranvir had come to our sets but it's something very private and I wouldn't like to talk about it. Konkona was ill for the last few days, but she completed her schedule.
Though she had high fever on her birthday, she still shot her scenes. Konkona knew we had combination dates which we couldn't get another time so she completed the shoot without any fuss."
Prakash Jha's new movie "Rajneeti" will only hit theaters next May, but the stars of the drama, Katrina Kaif, Ajay Devgan, Nana Patekar, Naseeruddin Shah, Arjun Rampal, Manoj Bajpai and Ranbir Kapoor have already joined the filmmaker in his efforts to raise money for a good cause, all the while promoting the flick!
The entire crew of "Rajneeti" is set to raise money for Jha's NGO, Anubhooti, whose next mission is to build a self-sufficient hospital in the Bihar region for people in need of help, without regards to their religion, caste, political affiliations, or social status.
"To fundraise for this, the entire cast and crew of "Rajneeti " has been kind enough to whole-heartedly support and contribute to the efforts we are making for this hospital to become a reality," Jha said.
The famous filmmaker has already produced movies that deal with India's social issues like "Gangajal" and "Apaharan," but this time he has mobilized his entire cast to raise awareness and funds for his latest project! Smart move!
"We will be holding premieres and benefit dinners in 10 cities across the world to raise funds. We will be taking our appeal to New York, San Francisco, Toronto, London, Melbourne, Durban, Hong Kong, Singapore, Dubai, and Muscat," Jha continued.
What do you think of this initiative? Check out the photos below of Ajay Devgan and Prakash Jha at the press conference in Mumbai last Thursday and drop us a line.
Ajay Devgn's family and friends spotted at Siddhi Vinayak. Since Maanayata Dutt and director Rohit Shetty were present, we will assume it was to offer prayers for his home production, All The Best.

Anil Kapoor and Ajay Devgan have never co-starred in their long spanning and impressive careers but a new bonhomie may bring the two talent powerhouses together.
Recently, Anil Kapoor was supervising the set for his latest venture No Problem, at Filmistan studios, when he bumped into Ajay Devgan who was there shooting for Amita Mangat's Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge, with co-star Konkona Sen Sharma. The minute Anil saw Ajay, he walked up to him, hugged him and said, "I wonder why the two of us have never worked together?"
The two stars spent some time together listening to each other attentively.
Ajay, 40, looked stylishly sporty dressed in a turquoise blue polo shirt paired with dark blue jeans and a studded belt. Usually very prim Anil looked laid back dressed casually in a pistachio long shirt sporting a French beard.
Anil has worked with Ajay's wife Kajol in Hum Aapke Dil Main Rehte Hai (1990).

No, Emraan Hashmi isn’t looking to flaunt his six-pack abs in this picture, but hey, can he help it if he is? This is a new and improved Emraan with his look from Balaji Motion Pictures’ Once Upon A Time In Mumbai. But it’s not just the look that the actor is excited about, it’s the film as well, where his role is that of a guy who challenges an underworld don.
“The movie is set in the 60s when underworld was just trickling in Mumbai. My character Shoaib is one who challenges the authority of Sultan (Ajay Devgn). Shoaib is very ambitious, can do anything to get what he wants, he’s a fiery personality,” says Emraan. And though the mental preparation for a role like this required the actor to have regular interactions with his director Milan Luthria, it was his look that literally made him slog it out for three months.
Milan was clear about what he wanted from Emraan. “He told me I should look tough which extends beyond just having six-pack abs. It was about beefing up but keeping it lean too,” the actor says. Three months of training with a personal trainer and exercises that included strength endurance and... bingo! Even Milan was taken aback by Emraan’s dedication. “I was blown away!” admits Milan, “Emraan is quietly determined, as intensely passionate as a Hrithik or an Aamir when it comes to his work.” It was not just the looks, Milan was clear in his mind what he wanted from Emraan as an actor. “I was keen to have an actor who could match upto as well as be a foil to Ajay. Emraan has been tagged as a serial-kisser and as a sex symbol but with this film, I’m hoping to be the one who can push him to a different level,” he adds.
The shooting of the film will finish in January, which will be followed by promotions so that the film can release by May-June 2010. “The biggest element of surprise will be the looks and performances of each of the actors, be it Ajay or Kangna. As for Emraan, the audience will see a deeper dimension in his performance,” the director says.

Amidst heavy duty security post the 26/11 terror anniversary actors Ajay Devgn and Konkona SenSharma along with Paresh Rawal shot a sequence at Mumbai’s CST railway station for their comic caper Atithi Tum Kab Jaaoge?
Producer Amita Pathak says, “We had worked out the permissions well in advance, yet right until the time of our shooting, we kept everything very low profile. We didn’t want to disturb either the authorities or the public while shooting at this sensitive spot.”
Paresh also managed a coup by shooting at the Gateway of India, another closely guarded spot, two weeks earlier than he shot at CST. The actor who realised how hard it is to get permissions to shoot at these places was actually very co-operative with his producers and agreed to a 6.30 am shoot so that most shots would be canned before Mumbai woke up.
Even though Atithi Tum Kab Jaaoge (ATKJ) starring Ajay Devgn, Konkana Sen Sharma and Paresh Rawal went on the sets only last month, one unit of the film has been shooting some important sequences for three months now.
One sequence is that of the Ganpati visarjan, which was shot at the Girgaon and Juhu beaches with a multi-camera set up in September. Recently, the other half of the sequence was filmed with the cast and about 2000 extras, who were called in to recreate the visarjan in a controlled environment.
Early preparations The makers know exactly what they wanted for the film and that's why the preparations began before September. Usually, filmmakers use stock shots for events like the visarjan but the makers of ATKJ wanted to do it right. A source reveals, "Around 2000 daily wage artistes were called for the crowd scene and the shoot was to be filmed at Versova Beach. But when bystanders found out that Ajay was shooting, they too joined in the filming. By the time the first scene was set up, there was a throng of 5,000 present."
Producer Amita Pathak confirms, "We were shooting on the beach and couldn't really stop people who were already there. So we used it to our advantage and the shoot happened without any hassles. There are many slums near the beach and people popped up hearing that Ajay, Konkana and Paresh were shooting there."
The film releases on February 22, 2009. Ashwani Dhir is directing the film. The film is a co-production between Amita Pathak and Warner Brothers, India.
