Kajol married Bollywood actor Ajay Devgan on February 24, 1999. The couple has a daughter, Nyasa, born in April 20, 2003.
Kajol is reported to have wrapped up filming of her role in Dharma Productions Hindi remake of Stepmom. The film directed by Siddharth Malhotra additionally stars Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Rampal.
Filming of a promotional track is being speeded up to allow Kajol to take off by March 20.
Kajol, 34, has also completed a large part of her role in Kumar Mangat's Toonpur Ka Superhero, a 3D and live action animation film.
While hands on mom Kajol is completely winding up her commitments, husband Ajay is cutting back on his schedules and confining his commitment to locales and studios in Mumbai, so that he can be home as much as possible.
One question Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn is constantly asked in most interviews is whether he plans to have another child. And Ajay has never shied away from admitting that if destiny wills it, he will be more than happy to add to his family.
Now news has it that Ajay’s gorgeous superstar biwi Kajol is reportedly pregnant. And, the Devgns are all in a very upbeat mood. Insiders say the family was in a dual celebratory mode on March 12 when they all met at a birthday dinner for Ajay’s sister.
The handsome Bollywood couple’s first born Nysa will be seven on April 20. And everyone knows that both Ajay and Kajol give their daughter top priority over everything else in their lives. Kajol has wrapped up her talkie portions in Siddharth Malhotra’s Hindi version of StepMom with Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Rampal. There were clear discussions on the set that the shooting could not be extended under any circumstances.
The actress, who was recently seen in Karan Johar’s My Name Is Khan, has also finished the major portions for Kumar Mangat’s Toonpur Ka Superhero with husband Ajay. It is said that Ajay, who returned to Mumbai after a three-month-long outdoor for his various film shoots, is now keen to shoot in and around Mumbai only just to spend time with his wife. The actor couldn’t make it to the recent Filmfare Awards night because of his busy work schedule but he did send Kajol to the function with absolutely strict instructions to return home in half-an-hour.
Kajol’s sister Tanisha and Ajay’s first cousin Vickey accompanied the actress to the event. And Kajol, who looked resplendent in a red sari and was absolutely enjoying the buffonery of her favourite co-star Shah Rukh Khan with Saif Ali Khan on stage, made sure that she left the awards ceremony within the time stipulated by her husband.
Insiders say that the promotional track of StepMom that was to be shot later is being wrapped up from March 20 in Mumbai because Kajol is participating in the song shoot. The film is slated for a July release and sources say the music video could very well have been shot later. However, keeping in mind Kajol’s decision not to do any work after March, the track is being shot now. TOI wishes Ajay and Kajol love and luck. We could not be happier for the couple.

They say that 'One man's food is another man's poison'. Well, we shall slightly twist the title and say 'One man's reel-life title is another man's real-life deed! We are talking about the strange connection between SRK and Ajay Devgn.
What happened was that during Ajay Devgn's recent visit to Delhi in accordance to the promotions of his latest movie Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge? , he was taken aback with awe when he was informed that the Indian Hockey team was also staying at the same hotel as he was! Even though he had his appointment diary full of meetings, appointments and interviews, Ajay expressed his keenness on meeting the Indian hockey team. The true gentleman that he is, Ajay, took some time off from his hectic schedule, and went to meet the entire hockey team and also wished them the best for their forthcoming matches in the Hockey World Cup being held in Delhi. The said team included players such as Prabjot Singh, Sandeep Singh, Arjun Halappa and many more. Needless to say that, all of them were delighted on meeting the star and also chatted with him for some time before they left for their match.
All in all, one can surely say 'Chak De'... Ajay Devgn!

If our trade and distribution sources are to be believed, Rohit Shetty will commence the shooting of GOLMAAL 3 later this month. The film will have big names like Ajay Devgan, Kareena Kapoor, Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade and a host of other supporting actors.
Director Rohit Shetty, who has a reputation of being a quick worker, expects GOLMAAL 3 to be wrapped up in a short span of four to five months.
While still on GOLMAAL 3, Rohit has already announced the release date. And no prizes for guessing! It will release on Diwali day that is Friday the 5th of November 2010, just like his previous two successful ventures, GOLMAAL RETURNS and ALL THE BEST.
Mumbai: Real life couple, Ajay Devgn and Kajol, is set to romance on reel once again! The couple, which was last seen together in ‘U Me Aur Hum’ in 2008, has now been shortlisted by Hollywood’s Fox Star Studios to act in the remake of their foreign flick Date Night. But before you say cheers to this, let us inform you that the movie will go on floors only after Kajol’s delivery. In fact, it will be her first film after she has her second child.
Confirming the news a source said, “Fox Star Studios has approached Kajol and Ajay for the film.”
As for the movie, the source added, “Date Night has Steve Carell and Tina Fey. It is an action comedy about a couple struggling with their lives and marriage till a visit to a trendy restaurant results in a case of mistaken identity, and then starts a non-stop adventure. The Hollywood film releases on April 9. Both Ajay and Kajol saw the film last Friday afternoon, after which they confirmed their intention to go ahead with the remake.”
And even though the film seems like a potential Hollywood hit, the officials at Fox Star had to convince our Bollywood duo that it would translate well into a Hindi film. “There is a possibility that Ajay may buy the rights of the film. A lot also depends on how Kajol wants to conduct her career after she delivers her second baby,” adds the source.
MUMBAI: The third part of the Golmaal series is all set to start its shooting from 28 March. And customary to its prequel, this film will also be shot in Goa.
The director of the film, Rohit Shetty confirmed to Businessofcinema.com, "Yes, we will be starting the shoot in Goa from 28 March. It will be a month long schedule where we will shoot the major portions of the film. The remaining bits will be mostly songs which will be canned in Mumbai."
This is the same pattern the director chose for Golmaal 2. He started shooting for this film around the same time in Goa and at that time he had said, "March end and April, the tourists are no longer in Goa. It is the off season and so we have the place to ourselves. I get good locations at half the price and at the same time relative peace so that neither I nor my actors are hounded by fans."
Golmaal 3 will have a new addition and at the same time will have Kareena Kapoor as the only female lead in the film. So this film will have the same cast of Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi, Shreyas Talpade and Tusshar Kapoor with Kunal Khemu being the latest entrant.
The actress will play a gaali-spouting tomboy in Golmaal 3
Kareena Kapoor will be playing a tomboy character for the first time on Golmaal 3, being directed by Rohit Shetty.
It is learnt that the director was writing the story, he decided to give Kareena's typically glamorous image a break in the film and offer her an unusual part. He didn't want her to do the glam doll act once again. He wanted her to be part of the gang of boys comprising Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Kunal Khemu and Shreyas Talpade.
Going casual The source reveals, "Kareena will sport casual wear in the film. No designer dresses, shoes and bags for her. She will play a badass who spouts abusive tapori language and rides around on a bike. She will be seen doing dadagiri like boys in gangs."
Bebo admits, "My look in Golmaal 3 is non-glamorous. It's young and grunge and keeping the weather and look of Goa in mind. I play a tomboy but with a feminine touch. Though I will be using tapori language it won't be too abusive or vulgar. It will be in keeping with my persona."
Shetty adds, "I wanted to give Kareena a new image in Golmaal 3. She's 'one of the boys' in the film, and will sport minimal make-up. She is talking with Manish Malhotra and they will come up with the right look for her part. I have tried not to make her use too much foul language or abusive lingo. Her whole look and hair will be undergoing a thorough change. Her character in the film is not that rich. We are all looking forward to teaching Bebo some exciting language. She's already become one goonda now!"
Keeping Bebo real
Manish Malhotra says, "I feel that whenever Bebo plays a real character she does it the best (like Jab We Met or 3 Idiots). The look for Bebo is a believable one with simple clean lines. I will pick up some clothes for her in Bangkok and Dubai for her. She will be wearing summer tops and T-shirts. In fact, I will be designing and creating some special T-shirts for her. Rohit didn't want jeans or shorts but drawstring pants in ivory or white. It's something like Amanda Seyfried sported in Mamma Mia! - Mediterranean casual chic."
Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge? has seen a decent response coming its way. Meanwhile Ajay Devgn is looking at an eventful year ahead with diverse films like Raajneeti, Once Upon A Time In Mumbai, Garam Hawa, Toonpur Ka Superhero and Golmaal 3 in the pipeline. However, Ajay denies that he is experimenting with genres only now and states that he has been trying to follow this route right through his two decades career.
"It is surprising that you are making a note of it now when I have worked on diverse films like Raincoat, Zakhm and Thakshak at regular intervals. Somehow all this news about me doing varied films is catching heat today when the fact remains that I have been working in such set ups even when not many were stepping out in this direction", protests Ajay.
Well, Ajay definitely has a point to make here. After all the two time National Award winning actor (for Zakhm and The Legend of Bhagat Singh) has just been modest enough to have possessed it all but not necessarily flaunted it. Moreover, a closer study of his two decade long career does suggest that in spite of a 'masala' beginning to his career, Ajay has truly experimented with Halla Bol, Omkara, Yuva, Gangaajal, Apaharan, Bhoot and Company as well, to name a new. Now the fact is that not many of these films can really be termed as the kinds that had an eye on turning out to be blockbusters at the box office.
However, if one looks at the remainder of 2010, Ajay's repertoire of films is nothing but envying. Comments a trade follower, "One has to look at the way Ajay has planned it all so well. Raajneeti is all set to mark a hat trick of winners for Ajay Devgn and Prakash Jha after Apaharan and Gangaajal. Once Upon A Time In Mumbai will follow soon after and the film is special since it brings together director Milan Luthria and Ajay together again after Kachche Dhaage."
"He is also working on Priyadarshan's Garam Hawa (along with Akshaye Khanna and Bipasha Basu) which seems like quite an interesting social-action entertainer. And then there is live-animation flick Toonpur Ka Superhero which is looking for an opportune release time as well. Ajay will certainly end the year on a high note since Rohit Shetty's Golmaal 3 should be a mega money spinner this Diwali", adds the expert.
Since Ajay is doing so much in his professional career, where does Kajol fit into picture? Does he seek any creative (or other inputs) from her during his decision making process?
"Well, Kajol and I hardly discuss work at home. This is why we never spoke about this movie as well", is all that Ajay is willing to comment on the subject. This actually sends out a strong signal once again that when it comes to his films, Ajay is more than willing to talk at length. However, the moment a conversation starts taking a tangential route and borders upon his personal life, the guard naturally goes up.
Coming back to lighter topics, now that he is all set to have an engaged 2010 ahead, is he pining for some rest?
"Certainly not! These are going to be exciting months ahead and I am actually going through 2-3 scripts which are sounding quite promising", Ajay eases up here, "As for my next film as a director, that would happen in due course of time. This has been a rather good going and I am enjoying it all."

Kajol was last seen with Ajay Devgan in U Me Aur Hum (2008), which was also directed by him. Now the real-life couple will likely be seen together in a remake of 20th Century Fox’s Date Night. There’s word that Kajol is pregnant and while that will definitely delay things, it’s certain that this will be the first film she acts in after her delivery.
“Fox Star Studios has approached Kajol and Ajay for the film,” confirmed a well placed source. “Date Night has Steve Carell and Tina Fey.
The source added that Fox Star was convinced that Date Night would translate well into a Bollywood masala film and were particularly keen on casting Ajay and Kajol together. “There is a possibility that Ajay may buy the rights of the film. A lot also depends on how Kajol wants to conduct her career after she delivers her second baby,” he said.
Meanwhile, Ajay is busy completing Garam Hawa and Raajneeti before he starts working on Golmaal 3 towards the end of this month. “He will only start planning his next film after Golmaal 3 releases in Diwali this year. The Bollywood remake of Date Night will go on the floors sometime next year.”
While Ajay Devgan remained unavailable for comment, his spokesperson said, “Yes, they saw the film and loved it. But it’s too early to say anything more at the moment.”

20th Century Fox has approached the star couple for the action comedy
After StepMom, Kajol will soon be seen in the Hindi remake of another Hollywood film. But this time, her co-star will be real life husband Ajay Devgn. The two have been approached by 20th Century Fox to star in the Hindi remake of their film Date Night. Date Night will release only on April 9, but the couple saw the film last Friday and agreed to do the remake. In fact, they loved it so much that Ajay is considering buying the rights to the film.
The film will go on floors only after Kajol delivers her second child. Ajay too is busy shooting for Garam Hawa and Raajneeti and will soon start work on Golmaal 3. Only after Golmaal 3 releases this Diwali will Ajay start his next film.
Date Night tells the story of a couple whose marriage is on the verge of breaking till they happen to visit a restaurant one night. They get involved in a case of mistaken identity and are forced to embark on a non-stop adventure together. The action comedy stars Steve Carell and Tina Fey.
Its been only 3 days since the dubbing of TOONPUR commenced, but it seems like a long time already. Not because it’s a boring process, but too much has happened. The team is having fun punctuating the gags and filling in the pauses with trivial, cute chatter of the toons. Its been a task trying to audition for the right character voices – the criteria was difficult. We needed great performers, exaggerated theatrical voices and at the same time, the voices had to suit the body type and physical characteristics. And then passing it through compressors and modulation, pitch shift et al to ensure the voice sounds animated enough, yet audible and relevant to the character. I hope we have succeeded in doing that.
Yesterday, we recorded the Ostrich character that Ajay Devgn rides in the climax. The Ostrich is an incessantly blabbering, rajput accented, ill-mannered, heart-broken creature. We found the right voice with the gamut of expressions and voila – the scene is looking so much better.
Of course, we are being ably lead by Rakesh Ranjan ji (seen in picture centre), one of the senior most and respected sound professionals (who also incidentally the curriculum designer and Principal faculty at the prestigious Whistling Woods) and that’s great comfort for me.
More later. Please don’t ask about the release date!
William Shakespeare felt there was nothing in a name and a rose by any other name would still smell as sweet as it always does.
However, Bollywood superstar Ajay Devgn seems to think that a little spelling correction can go a long way in changing one’s fortunes.
The actor who dropped the alphabet A from his name — Devgan, and made it Devgn thinks that both his comedies All the Best and the recent Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge? have worked because the surname change has brought a tilt in his fortunes.
Now, Ajay’s close associates are telling him that his future ventures — Rajneeti, Once Upon a Time in Mumbai, Garam Hawa and Golmaal 3 will also prove beneficial at the box office. Abbreviations are the in thing anyway.
Ajay Devgan normally does not change looks etc for any film. He just dons a simple moustache or a beard and a turban whenever it comes to playing historical characters like Bhagat Singh etc. But now the actor seems to be taking life and work a lot more seriously ever since his market started falling badly.
After Golmaal Returns, Ajay Devgan has felt the need to keep innovating with his looks and one can see that in the form of his next action comedy film Toonpur Ka Superhero. And now for the third instalment of Golmaal which is slated to go on the floors very soon, Ajay has planned a crew cut. And that’s not all.
The actor will also sport a stubble with a stud as well in his ear. That’s a stud in the making? Huh?
And now after the success of 'Avatar', everyone wants to make their film in a 3D format.
And that is what even Kumar Mangat is now trying after watching the film. His film Toonpur Ka Superhero starring Ajay Devgan is being readied and Mangat clearly wants to make the film in the 3D format to ensure that he is abreast of the latest ways in cinema making.
Avatar had a Hindi version too as a lot of audiences in India have seen the film and will be comparing the film with other Indian products – specially superhero movies.
That was reason enough for Rakesh Roshan to rethink his next Hrithik's film. But Mangat already having committed to the Ajay Devgan-Kajol starrer, will have to ensure that the film is up to international standards for sure.
After a wait of 2 years, this film should better be worth it!
The prolific Priyadarshan has had more than his share of title problems with his new Ajay Devgn-Akshaye Khanna-Bipasha Basu starrer. A hard-hitting film about love across caste barriers and honour killing set in Bihar, Priyan wanted to call it Ishqana. But Ishqiya came along and Priyan chose Garam Hawa.
But now that title too had to be hastily abandoned and Priyan has called his film Aakrosh. Explains the exhausted director, "We wanted to call it Garam Hawa as homage to M.S. Sathyu's classic film of that name. But then Mr. Sathyu got very upset. We received a letter from him questioning our right to use his title. We immediately abandoned Garam Hawa. In order to use Aakrosh as the title, we got the original Aakrosh's director Govind Nihalani's permission. He was very generous about it."
Of late, Priyan has been working over-time. "I need a break. I've four films this year. Aakrosh and Khatta Meetha are almost complete. Then I'm going into a film about the loves and lusts of the youth for which I want to cast newcomers along with Prateik Babbar. I'm starting this film in July. Finally, I want to make my realistic no-frills film on AIDS at the end of this year with Aamir Khan in the lead. I'll go to him only when my script is ready."
Priyan says he needs a star like Aamir to have a large receptive audience for the AIDS film. "I'm more successfully known for my comedies in the North. However, even if Aamir declines, I'll still go ahead with the AIDS film."
