OAKLAND, Calif. -- After too often finding themselves on the wrong end of close games a year ago, the Oakland Raiders have thrived in those situations this season.Derek Carr and the Raiders found a new way to win Sunday, using a go-ahead, fourth-down 21-yard touchdown pass to Michael Crabtree and a botched hold on a potential tying field goal to beat the San Diego Chargers 34-31 .Guys have a lot of confidence because we work really hard especially in those situations, Carr said. We spend a lot of time throwing routes, spend a lot of time going over coverages, spend a lot of time in two-minute drills, end of game situations. You hang our hat on weve done this before. Lets be confident when we get on the field. After using a late 2-point conversion to win the opener, stopping a late Tennessee drive in a Week 3 win and using a late score and defensive stop to beat Baltimore last week, the Raiders (4-1) survived against the Chargers (1-4) to post their first three-game winning streak in five years. That has put an Oakland team that hasnt made the playoffs since 2002 in a tie for first place in the AFC West with Denver. Its nice, but the road still goes through Denver, Carr said. They are Super Bowl champs, division champs. I will always pay respect to them because thats what theyve earned. We have earned absolutely nothing yet.The Chargers know just as well how small the difference can be from winning and losing -- only they seem to always be at the wrong end.San Diego had already lost three games it led at the two-minute warning, blowing a 21-point lead to Kansas City and a 13-point fourth-quarter advantage last week versus New Orleans. Then came the latest loss that was sealed when Drew Kaser couldnt hold the snap on a 36-yard field goal attempt that could have tied the game.Just when you think youve seen it all, something like that happens, coach Mike McCoy said. Here are some other takeaways from the game:BOSAS DEBUT: Chargers defensive end Joey Bosa made an impressive debut after missing training camp during a nasty contract dispute and sitting out the first four games with a hamstring injury. He came in on the second drive and had a sack and a tackle for loss in the first half. He added a second sack in the fourth quarter. It felt pretty natural, Bosa said. Its nice to get the butterflies out because I was pretty nervous coming into this game.VALUABLE FILL-IN: The Raiders signed Perry Riley Jr. on Tuesday and put the former Washington linebacker right into the mix. With Malcolm Smith hindered by a quadriceps injury, Riley got the start. He forced a fumble by Antonio Gates on the opening drive and finished with seven tackles.I knew when we got him what he was going to bring to the table, linebacker Bruce Irvin said. Tough, hard-nosed competitive guy who makes plays. He showed that on the first possession.ROUGH DAY: Kaser had tough day even before the botched hold. He punted just once and shanked that attempt for just 16 yards. Oakland took over on the 32 and drove for a TD that made it 34-31.COOPER SCORES: Raiders receiver Amari Cooper hadnt scored a touchdown in four games before breaking through against the Chargers. He scored on a 64-yard pass from Carr in the third quarter and added a 2-point conversion after Crabtrees TD. Cooper also nearly had three more scores, but couldnt get both feet down inbounds on two throws into the end zone and was unable to re-establish himself after being interfered with on a third play.First one is always the hardest, no matter what it is, Carr said. Im just happy for him because he works his tail off.DIVISION SHOWDOWNS: Both teams remain in the division next week with the Chargers hosting the Broncos on Thursday night and the Raiders hosting Kansas City on Sunday.---AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and www.twitter.com/AP-NFLJohn Henson Jersey . -- Anaheim Ducks captain and leading scorer Ryan Getzlaf has been scratched from Sunday nights game against the Vancouver Canucks because of an upper-body injury. MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. -- Jay Ajayi got a second chance, and so did the Miami Dolphins. They made the most of both.Ajayi scored on an 11-yard run with 8:26 left in overtime, and the Dolphins escaped with a 30-24 win over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday -- the first victory for first-year head coach Adam Gase.We come out here in our first game and showcase to our home fans what were about, and offensively were out there flopping it around, said Gase, who was in no celebratory mood afterward. It irritated me a little bit.Ajayis game-winner came one play after Miami quarterback Ryan Tannehill found a wide-open Jarvis Landry for a 32-yard gain, as the Dolphins (1-2) avoided what would be their first 0-3 start since 2011.Tannehill threw for 319 yards and three touchdowns for Miami, and Landry caught seven of those passes for 120 yards.Cody Parkey, who was signed Saturday after Patrick Murray was hurt the day before in practice, missed three field goals for Cleveland, including a 46-yarder as time expired in regulation. The Browns had a golden chance to win after Corey Lemonier stripped the ball from Tannehill and recovered the fumble himself with 20 seconds left.Parkey went wide left, some Dolphins fans who were leaving turned around in the stairwells, and to overtime they went.I know everybody will say it came down to the field goals, but Im not going to put that kind of pressure on Cody, Browns coach Hue Jackson said. Cody just got off a plane with us and I dont know him as well as I know this chair right now.Cleveland started Cody Kessler at quarterback, making him the third player in as many weeks to hold that job for the Browns. The Browns lost Robert Griffin III and Josh McCown in the seasons first two weeks, and ultimately got a spark from quarterback-turned-wide-receiver.Terrelle Pryor became the first Browns player since 1977 to have multiple receptions, rushes and passes in the same game. The former Ohio State quarterback, now primarily a receiver, started taking some snaps in the games second series and finished with eight catches for 144 yards -- along with 35 passing yards and 25 rushing yards. Pryor even played safety on the last play of the first half.ddddddddddddDynamic athlete, Miami defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh said. Whether hes playing quarterback or wide receiver hes obviously effective.Miami trailed 13-10 at the half. Landry caught a 42-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter to put the Dolphins on top, and the lead got stretched to 24-13 when Tannehill hit Damien Williams with what became a 10-yard scoring throw early in the fourth.Clevelands first offensive touchdown in its last 16 series came with 10:12 left, when Pryor scored on a 3-yard run. The two-point conversion got the Browns within 24-21, and Parkeys 38-yard field goal later in the fourth pulled Cleveland into a tie.And in OT, Ajayi -- who didnt even fly with the team to Seattle for its season opener -- capped it with a run around the left side.Im always happy to get a win. It was ugly, we didnt play well at times today, but we stuck together and found a way, Tannehill said.WELCOME, ROOKBriean Boddy-Calhoun was inactive in Week 1 and Week 2 for Cleveland. He made his debut one to remember, becoming the first player in franchise history to run back an interception for a score in his first NFL game.GOOD CALLCleveland won the coin toss prior to overtime and let Miami have the ball, even though a Dolphin touchdown on that possession would have ended the game. Miami wound up punting. The way we were playing offensively, it was probably a good idea, Gase said.QUOTABLEPatriots coach Bill Belichick offered a memorable Were on to Cincinnati series of quotes in October 2014, not wanting to answer questions about Tom Brady after a bad loss to Kansas City.
