Vishal Bharadwaj hits gold with 'U, Me Aur Hum' music Mumbai, Mar 1
Vishal Bharadwaj has composed music for Ajay Devgan's directorial debut "U, Me Aur Hum" and the soundtrack is a pleasure to listen to.
Beginning on a great note, the album starts with "Dil dhadka hai", sung by Adnan Sami and Shreya Ghoshal who sound perfect for the track. Lyricist Munna Dhiman swishes his poetical wand, promising a likeable number along with Bharadwaj's good sense of music. A romantic number with a difference, this track will impress.
Salsa takes over from Bollywood romance in "Jee le", sung by Adnan and Shreya. Once again it is hard to miss Dhiman's outstanding poetry, which gives listeners a break from the typical lyrics they're used to. With a racy tempo and a zingy touch to it, audiences are likely to get hooked to this song as well.
Unconventional bhangra takes form in "Phatte". Adnan pairs up with Sunidhi Chauhan for the fun song that is Punjabi in genre and yet is different in its approach. "Phatte" will be better watched than heard.
Another track that would be better watched than heard is "Saiyaan". Sunidhi croons Dhiman's wonderfully imaginative lyrics. Bharadwaj's music has been carefully and successfully adapted to the situation.
Solo renditions continue with Shreya taking over the mike next to croon to the first version of the title track. Melody, rhythm and harmony rule the song entirely and kudos to Bharadwaj for composing such a wonderful song. Shreya's sweet vocals complement the track perfectly and she deserves major credit if the song becomes a chartbuster.
Bharadwaj has once again hit the jackpot with "U, Me Aur Hum" and his decision to rope in Dhiman for the lyrics has proved beneficial not only to the lyricist but to him as well. Both the lyricist and the composer have stayed away from the conventional route but retained the commercial aspect in this venture.

The first time we heard about LONDON DREAMS was way back in 2006, when the first shot of the film, featuring Salman Khan, was canned at Amritsar's historic Golden Temple. At that time it was Rajkumar Santoshi who was the director of the movie and the cast comprised Salman Khan and Ajay Devgan, with Lara Dutta and Priyanka Chopra being discussed as the female leads. Without getting into the nitty-gritty of who did what and joining the blame game band, the result was that the project was put on the backburner.
However, there have been some positive developments on the LONDON DREAMS front and the latest on the subject being that the producer of the project P.J Singh has moved on with the script/story of the film to Vipul Amrutlal Shah. The cast too has undergone a sea change and LONDON DREAMS is now expected to feature Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif. But that will happen only and when all the legal issues relating to the film are sorted out.
For now let us talk about more pleasant and melodious things! Good news is that the project seems to be really happening. The super talented trio of Shankar Mahadevan, Ehsaan Noorani and Loy Mendosa, better known as S-E-L, have been officially roped in to compose the rocking tracks for the movie (instead of A.R. Rahman), which is based on the life of two London based rock stars!
Here's hoping that all the impediments are removed and the 'dream' project becomes a reality.
Altbekannte "News" - wieder mal werden Ajays Kommentare zum Film zitiert..... das weiß ich so genau, weil ich sie selbst bereits vor längerer Zeit übersetzt hatte.
After 'Pyar To Hona Hi Tha', Ajay Devgan and Kajol would redefine their love with 'U, Me aur Hum'. So get set for a romantic April with Ajay and Kajol hitting the big screen.
The story of 'U, Me Aur Hum' goes like this: The first time Ajay saw Pia, she served him drinks. She affected him more than the alcohol, and he found true love. He was a leading psychiatrist, but she messed up his mind.
The first time Pia saw Ajay, he had too much to drink. She watched him make a fool of himself, and was relieved when he passed out. She was a woman who followed her heart, but despite his claims of true love, she had made up her mind.
Thus began the love story of Ajay and Pia.
A love story, that begins at sea. Ajay is on a cruise with his friends - Nikhil and Reena, unhappily married, and Vicky and Natasha, happily unmarried. Ajay is having a wonderful time dealing with martial strife, lots of bad language and huge hangovers, when he finds Pia, and time stands still. After a disastrous first meeting, Ajay tries everything to woo her. He wants her, by hook, crook or even her little private notebook. She's not an easy catch at all, but finally, by sheer perseverance, he dances his way into her heart.
Ajay and Pia develop a strong and special bond. In each other, they find an anchor. But the tide goes against them. Weighted down by lies and deceit, their boat is rocked, and their relationship drowns.
But even oceans cannot keep true love apart. Against better sense, Ajay waits for Pia. In Pia's case, better case prevails, and she comes back to him. With no doubt in their minds about the way they feel for each other, they rush into marriage, despite the advice and failing relationships of their friends.
Exclusive: Ajay Devgan on 'U Me Aur Hum'
Happy marriages begin when we marry the ones we love, and they blossom when we love the ones we marry. And Ajay-Pia, love each other dearly, and their marriage flourishes, setting an example for their friends.
But no marriages can be complete without problems, and Ajay and Pia have also have to face hurdles, some of which seem insurmountable. We are taught in school how to do sums, how to read and write, and how to conduct scientific experiments. But what do we really know about the greatest social experiment of all, namely our ability to keep the love alive in our marriage, especially in the face of crises?
But even as things get much worse, and sometimes unsolvable, Ajay and Pia don't give up. They realise that marriage is not a ritual or an end. It is a long, intricate, intimate dance together and nothing matters more than your own sense of balance and your choice of partner. And Ajay and Pia are used to dancing together.
So they battle all odds, and dance, and sometimes they fall. But every time they fall, they fall in love. And that's what a successful marriage requires. Falling in love many times, always with the same person.
This is the special love story of Ajay and Pia. There may be no monuments dedicated to them and perhaps their names would soon be forgotten. But in one respect they succeed as gloriously as anyone who's ever lived: They've loved each other with all their heart and soul; and in life and marriage, that has always been enough.
Bollywood couple Kajol and Ajay Devgan launched Radio One's third annual "speed dating" event, Dating Fatafat, in Mumbai on Friday evening.
Aimed at young working professionals in the city, speed dating is a new way for busy professionals to get out of their comfort zone, make new friends, network and meet their future partners. The success of speed dating is based on the psychological evidence that most people make up their minds on whether they like someone or not within the first 30 seconds of meeting.
Radio One CEO Vineet Singh Hukmani says, "Today's generation of radio listeners is very clear about what it wants and wants it instantly. That's why Radio One is positioned as 'the station for the fatafat generation' and all our events follow this very theme.
"Speed dating is a fast, fun and safe way to meet like-minded people, making new friends, networking and possibly meeting 'the one,' something that may not always be possible with the very busy work schedules people have nowadays."
"Dating Fatafat is one of many promotions from Radio One that keeps the station vibrant and exciting for its listeners," he adds.
The contest began on 20 February and ran for a week, with calls for entries through 30-second spots on Radio One playing through the day, press ads in Mid Day as well as through mailers to members of Club One. A panel of Radio One RJs selected the 10 most eligible men and 10 most eligible women, who were invited to participate in this fun evening.
On inaugurating the event, Kajol said, "I think it's a great idea by Radio One to help people find mates in this busy city."
Kajol and Devgan encouraged participants to go ahead and give it their best, participate fully, as they could possibly make a friend at the event, and possibly make somebody more than a friend.
There’s a story going around that when Ajay Devgan’s new film, U Me Aur Hum, had an important day’s work at Ballard Estate, the bustling business district in south Mumbai, the actor got permission to shoot on a Sunday. It was a costly set of sequences that had to be filmed with dozens of cars, rain machines, cranes, and assorted cameras assembled on the road, along with a jumbo crew. This was sometime during the monsoons last year. It was mercifully not raining (the scenes, however, required artificial machine-produced rain!) and it was crucial that the day’s work be completed quickly not only because it was such an expensive shoot but also because there was no guarantee that next Sunday would provide them with such friendly weather.
When everything was in place and the cameras started rolling, it was discovered that the rain machines didn’t have the adequate nozzles to send out a gush of artificial rain. Blame and counter blame was soon exchanged but the bottomline was, no way could they film the sequences that they’d set out to can that Sunday.
That’s when Ajay Devgan showed his strength. We know this fight master’s son is as quick with his temper as he is with his fists. But on this Sunday, when all the well-laid plans went awry, Ajay remained so calm that the rest of the crew also stopped cribbing. Although U Me Aur Hum is his directorial debut, the actor-producer-director told his unit, “Since we are here, I want to shoot the scenes in a different way. It’s just an experiment but we lose nothing by trying it.”
Rudyard Kipling would’ve approved with his wise, “If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs….Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it, And — which is more — you’ll be a Man, my son!”
Don’t know if Ajay will have the world in his pocket but he has certainly doused the youthful temper he was once famous for. It reminded me of what an 80-plus Dada Moni (Ashok Kumar) once told me while discussing how he kept his equanimity at all times. “I have completely conquered anger. For over 20 years I just haven’t lost my temper. I sometimes pretend to be angry but it’s not real because I don’t get angry at all.”
Going by Kipling’s ‘You’ll be a Man, my son’, Ajay has turned into a Man in his thirties itself.
After that Sunday’s shooting (which, finally, turned out to be a successful experiment and didn’t require a reshoot), Ajay told a close friend, “I’m the captain of the ship. If I had given in to anger, it would’ve percolated to every person in the unit. And we’d have achieved nothing. I’ve realised in the last three-four years that anger achieves nothing. So I just don’t succumb to it, I just don’t get angry.”
If Ajay Devgan has really succeeded in anger management, it simply means he can pull off anything if he puts his mind to it. For instance, a six-pack abs may require much heaving and puffing. But Ajay says, “I don’t have a six-pack abs right now. I have a toned stomach. But if I am required to show a six-pack, I’d need only about a month to get it. I can manage my body really well.”
What he has not managed to give up is the cancer stick, as he nonchalantly lit one in his airconditioned van. How come Ramadoss, our honourable health minister, keeps going after Shah Rukh Khan but Ajay gets no rap on the knuckles?
“It’s because you haven’t seen me make a lot of public appearances with my cigarette,” he explains. “I do smoke at functions but I request photographers not to click it. Of course you can’t stop them, but you’re a little careful about where you’re smoking.”
Ajay actually gets away because he makes few public appearances, rarely ever goes on stage and ducks the TV cameras. He doesn’t do entertainment shows and doesn’t believe in awards functions (except the National Awards where he wouldn’t dare light up before the President). Mmm, let’s wait till the U Me Aur Hum promotion gets aggressive.
Hey, psst!
A six-pack abs is really a joke. Looking at Shekhar Suman’s music videos and photographs, corporate tsar Anil Ambani has got inspired. He’s taken Satya, Shekhar’s personal trainer, to get him a six-pack too. At the next marathon he runs, don’t be surprised if Ambani does a Ganguly and flamboyantly twirls his shirt in the air!

... Ajay Devgan opened his account early this year with two films releasing in the first month of the year itself. "Halla Bol" and "Sunday" released in January.
Like most of Rajkumar Santoshi's films, "Halla Bol" had its heart in the right place but could not make much mullah. Similarly, "Sunday" had great promos and a cast packed with actors known for their acting and comic prowess but failed to charm audiences. Ajay will be seen again soon in "U Me Aur Hum" opposite real life wife Kajol.
The year had started with "Halla Bol" releasing alongside "My Name Is Anthony Gonsalves" by commercially successful director E. Niwas. Both films opened to poor houses so expecting a miraculous pick up in business was ruled out. But the makers did break even. ...
Ajay Devgan, Kajol and Tanuja come together to Rock-N-Roll
Yet another set of big stars fall for the television bait. This time it is Ajay Devgan with wife Kajol and mother-in-law Tanuja, who will judge a dance reality show titled Rock-N-Roll Family, which will replace Sa Re Ga Ma Pa from March 14.
When contacted, director of Rock-N-Roll Family, Satish Datt, said, "We had approached Ajay Devgan and explained the concept of the show. He confirmed that all three of them will judge the show, as they are a family."
The show comprising 17 episodes will see an entire family participating in the show. The winning family will get a cash prize of Rs 50 lakhs. A source from Zee TV revealed, "A total of 12 families from across the country have been selected. The family comprises grandparents, parents and grandchildren, all dancing together as a team. The format is unique and has all the elements of drama and suspense, aside from featuring some good talent."
The channel has roped in Sharad Kelkar (of Saat Phere fame) as the anchor of the show. "Sharad essays a similar character on screen as well. He is the right choice for our show," our source added.
Kajol and Ajay Devgan, launched Radio One’s third annual Speed Dating Event titled “Radio One Presents - Dating Fatafat”, at The Ultimate, Mumbai, an event aimed at young working professionals in the city.
After weeks of excitement and fun on Zee TV’s Hero Honda Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champs, Anamika Chaudhary from Assam emerged winner of the show on Saturday. Anamika has been awarded a cash prize of Rs 20 lakh along with a Hyundai i10 car after receiving a total of 44 lakh 80 thousand votes.
Punjab’s Rohanpreet Singh was declared the first runner up, followed by Tanmay Chaturvedi as the second runner up. Rohanpreet, whom Anamika considered a very strong contender, has been awarded a cash prize of Rs 15 lakh. The second runner up Lucknow’s Tanmay has been rewarded Rs 10 lakh.
While Rohanpreet received 38 lakh 47 thousand votes, Tanmay got more than 34 lakh votes.
This musical challenge was a closely contested finale, watched by millions across the world on Zee TV.
Present were Sonu Nigam, Aditya Narayan, Kalyanji, Mauli Dave, Raju Shrivastava and others.
Bollywood’s best love stories wouldn’t have been the same without that special magic.
Those tempestuous screen vibes that the shining stars share (even if it is make-belief and created only for a three-hour celluloid odyssey).
The box-office fate of a many a big ticket production depended a lot on how well the romantic lead have been able to generate the right kind of on-screen rapport and convince the viewers that this could even be a real pair of lovebirds. Sure, there have been heated debates about whether the Mumbai film industry has really had a screen jodi after Raj Kapoor-Nargis, Dharmendra-Hema Malini, Amitabh Bachchan-Rekha or even Shah Rukh Khan-Kajol.
Sometimes off-screen camaraderie between lead actors also translates into authentic screen magic, and sometimes real life lovers haven’t been able to connect to the audience. In fact, the year 2008 will see some unusual and some scorching screen lovers together Hrithik Roshan-Aishwarya Rai Bachchan recreating dhoom in Jodhaa Akbar, Saif Ali Khan and Bipasha Basu steaming up in Race, Akshay Kumar-Katrina Kaif reuniting in Singh is Kingg, Ajay Devgan and Kajol returning together after eight years in U Me Aur Hum, Mallika Sherawat teaming up with Ranvir Shorey in Ugli Aur Pagli, on-off-on couple Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor in Yash Raj’s untitled next. So what is it that makes these beautiful people create sparks together?
Says director Tanuja Chandra, "Along with individual sparks between the actors, screen chemistry is about the script, characterisation, the director’s perception and the intensity of love. After Shah Rukh and Kajol, I think Irrfan Khan-Konkona Sen Sharma, Abhishek Bachchan-Rani Mukerji do exude some good chemistry. There has to be a definite balance between the actors’ comfort and discomfort."
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh agrees that a lot depends on, "the director. He has to portray that chemistry well."
And to add to that when actors pour in their hearts while enacting a romantic scene, clinical professionalism becomes that magical moment we call ‘screen chemistry’. If some actors take their on-screen rapport to their real life, then that’s an extra that creates more hype and expectation about a film. In the end, strong script, powerful performance make a money-spinning film, and that’s when a star-pair is born or accepted once again.
MUMBAI: Director Rajkumar Santoshi, who has been toying with the idea of making a love story for some time, has signed Bollywood's new sensation Ranbir Kapoor for a film. He will cast Katrina Kaif in the female lead. He starts the project immediately.
Confirming the development, Santoshi said: "I'm making this film, Ranbir has confirmed and even Katrina has almost confirmed. I wanted to work with Ranbir the minute I saw him in 'Saawariya'. I see that special spark in him. In fact, after I saw him in 'Saawariya', I sent him a bouquet. I was so impressed by him."
Following the unexpected debacle of "Halla Bol", producers are no longer eager for more from the Ajay Devgan-Santoshi pair. Apparently, PVR Films, which was supposed to support Santoshi's multimillion rupee historical movie on emperor Ashoka, has backed out of the project.
Tips, with which Santoshi had a long-standing tiff over outstanding payments for "The Legend Of Bhagat Singh", will produce the film. However, Santoshi denies differences with Tips. "We had a very fruitful working relationship during 'Bhagat Singh'. If we didn't, why would we be working together again?"
The director is especially excited about this project because it's a love story that he is writing himself. "For very long now I have wanted to make a pure love story. I wrote this script some time back. I was waiting for the right face. I think Ranbir was destined to be the hero in my love story."
Two years ago, Santoshi was supposed to make a film called "Ranbir" with Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan.
It was a huge set in Filmistan. Malls, restaurants and fancy salons were made to order to give a very Goan feel to the ambience. Expensive cars and hi-tech mean machines were parked alongside the bricked pavement. Credit of the magnanimity of it all ought to be given to art director Naren Raodekar.
And then appeared the cowgirls – Kareena Kapoor and Amrita Arora – and the cowboys – Ajay Devgan, Arshad Warsi and Shreyas Talpade. While Bebo wore a mini-skirt, white shirt, hat and boots, Amu was more covered.
The song that was being shot was titled Tha Karke , and choreographed by Ganesh Acharya. The music of this film has been composed by Pritam. Director Rohit Shetty informed us, "We are shooting here till March 5. Then we go to South Africa in April to shoot one more song. The film will see a July-August release.
Actor Ajay Devgan was most tense because he had to dance and dancing is just not his cup of tea. But the rest of the cast seemed to be enjoying themselves on the foot tapping number. "This is a dream sequence, it's an imaginary, fantasy song" Amrita informs us. Bebo on the other hand was looking hot in her micro-mini skirt. Ask her if she is still on her strict diet and she says, "No, I've been eating everything. But I do workout still." The happiest of the lot however, was Shreyas Talpade who seems to have got along with the 'gang' pretty well. "It's a fun atmosphere. I'm lucky to have bagged this entertainer."
It was one hot day at Filmcity, and we returned to write this piece tha karke .

Contrary to media reports about Ajay Devgan not being happy with Rajkumar Santoshi over the failure of their latest venture, HALLA BOL, the mutual admiration, affinity and the strong bond between the master actor and the talented director is very much intact. And it was evident with Santoshi making it a point to wish Devgan success when the music of Ajay's directorial debut venture, U, ME AUR HUM was launched in Bombay, a while back.
Coming to their next ambitious project, based on the life of Emperor Ashoka, the project is ready to take off, now that another historical, Ashutosh Gowariker's JODHAA AKBAR has clicked both commercially and critically.
In fact, when Santoshi was asked whether his movie would have romantic touches like JODHAA AKBAR, he nodded in the affirmative. He added that there would definitely be moments of the emperor's personal life, but the focus will not be totally on romance, unlike JODHAA AKBAR.
As per the tentative schedule, the Ajay Devgan and Bipasha Basu starrer is likely to go on the floors this July.
