Ajay Devgan is back to his real love, action films. Devgan’s forthcoming film Toonpur Ka Superhero is an action packed animated film and the dude who loves action is enjoying every bit of it. What comes as an icing on the cake for Ajay is that the stunts are being directed by a Hollywood stunt director, Jack Gill.

But as they say, nothing comes easy, doing the stunts and exploiting his body to the fullest was not a cake walk for Ajay. The actor met with lots of small accidents during the shoot. First he injured his back and just recently encountered death when he was shooting at the Phi Phi Island in Thailand.

Ajay narrates the incident, “Jack Gill had planned out a stunt wherein the jet-ski chase was supposed to be shot from an aerial view. There was a chopper which was mounted with cameras. Initially as we started moving around in the shallow waters the waves were moderate so we decided to move ahead in the deeper waters since the scene required a proper aerial view. I had other stunt guys (4 guys with their jet-skies) with me and we all were moving aggressively in the sea. The chopper was also hovering right above us and as close as possible to get better shots.

“All seemed to be going smooth until we realized that we were nearing another small rocky island called Maya Bay. Suddenly, the weather started to change and it looked as if we were ambushed by a storm. The wind and the waves were trying to show us their stunts and our guys instantly thought of retreat. Well. This is one incident, which will again be there in my mind for a real long time... a sudden gust of strong wind and within a wink of my eye the chopper above us lost control and the chopper blades were so dangerously close to us that we could feel the strong whipping winds of our helicopter...

“Honestly the whole experience was too scary and got us all worried. I really don’t know what happened in the next 30 seconds and how the chopper pilot regained his lost control. However, I thank God and all my well wishers that I am able to make this note in my diary.” He recounts

Well, it was indeed a frightening yet extremely thrilling experience for Ajay and we are sure that Toonpur Ka Superhero will be a visual treat for all action lovers!

Dazu wurde ein Heli mit Kameras bestückt. Am Anfang hielten wir uns im flachen Wasser auf. Aber dort waren die Wellen so klein, sodass wir uns entschlossen, weiter raus ins Tiefe zu gehen. Auch, weil die Szene so aus der Luft besser aussah. Ich hatte vier Stuntleute (auf ihren Jet-Skies) dabei, und wir alle sind im hohen Tempo raus aufs Meer. Der Heli war genau über uns und kam so nah wie möglich, um gute Aufnahmen zu bekommen. Alles schien glatt zu gehen, bis wir auf einmal merkten, dass wir ziemlich nahe an eine kleine Felsinsel namens Maya Bay kamen. Plötzlich schlug auch noch das Wetter um, und es sah so aus, als sollte uns ein Sturm erwischen. Der Wind und die Wellen haben uns so richtig gezeigt, was sie können, und die Jungs wollten sofort abbrechen. Und dann passierte das, was wahrscheinlich lange in meinem Kopf bleiben wird: Eine heftige Windböe und plötzlich fing der Hubschrauber über uns an zu taumeln. Die Rotorblätter waren gefährlich nahe über uns, sodass wir sogar den Abwind spürten. Das war wirklich eine Angst einflößende Erfahrung, und wir haben uns alle Sorgen gemacht. Ich weiß gar nicht, was in den nächsten 30 Sekunden eigentlich passiert ist und wie der Pilot wieder den Heli in den Griff bekommen hat. Wie auch immer, ich danke Gott und all meinen Unterstützern, dass ich noch diesen Eintrag in mein Tagebuch machen kann."
Nun, das war wirklich eine erschreckende und ziemlich aufregende Erfahrung für Ajay - und wir sind sicher, dass TKSH ein Augenschmaus für Actionliebhaber wird!

Prakash Jha has set up a relief camp titled Punarwaas for the flood-affected people of Bihar. The director recently announced plans to generate funds for those suffering from the floods. Supporting Jha in his effort are Bollywood actors Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgan, Nana Patekar, Manoj Bajpai, Shekhar Suman and others. Talking about the support he's received, Jha says, "Akshay called me from Bangkok. Apart from donating a generous amount, he's also promised to extend unconditional support to the cause."

It is learnt that Akshay Kumar donated a cheque of Rs 25 lakh on Wednesday for the cause. Apart from the donation, he's also asked Jha to adopt a village on his behalf. The money will be spent on redeveloping the village. In case the amount falls short, Akshay has promised to send extra funds. A source adds, "Akshay is asking a couple of his actor friends to adopt villages. He chose to work with Jha because he's seen the director work selflessly for the underprivileged in Bihar.

Akshay chooses to keep his gesture away from the media and says, "It's a very personal matter. Let it be that way."

Apart from Akshay, Ajay Devgan who's worked closely with Jha has also volunteered to help out. "Ajay too has been of great help. I am deeply touched by his gesture. In fact, Manoj Bajpai and Nana Patekar too made donations and extended their support." Ajay writes about his efforts on Punarwaas on his Facebook account. "My close friend Prakash Jha has initiated this project called Punarwaas - Flood Relief Mission, an NGO working in Bihar. I think we all have to share and shoulder the mammoth task of flood relief and rehab. I support Punarwaas and have done my bit but I need more support and help."

Talking about the relief work underway in Bihar Jha says, "I don't want the people of this country to forget Bihar. That's what Akshay told me, he stressed how the issue needs to be addressed urgently. The situation is still bad because the water hasn't receded completely. We've set up a base camp in one of the village and have started a makeshift school and health clinic for those affected."

Die Situation ist immer noch sehr ernst, weil das Wasser noch nicht vollständig zurückgegangen ist. Wir haben ein Basislager in einem der Dörfer eingerichtet, mit einer provisorischen Schule und Klinik für die Betroffenen."

With Golmaal Returns, the fun doubles

The Golmaal magic is back and how! Golmaal Returns has more stars and more gags than its prequel and is shot in a much grander scale. This means, there will be more fun as well. “Golmaal Returns has portions funnier than Golmaal. Like Golmaal, Golmaal Returns too has a spoof on Black. Also this time unlike me, it would be Arshad who will be bullying all of us,” said Ajay Devgan.

Arshad added, “Golmaal Returns is much funnier, bigger and is done on a larger scale. We have got more actors. Rohit has an ability to always overdo himself. If he knocked out 20 cars in the last film, in Golmaal Returns there are 30. And the best is the action song sequence. Have you seen a song where cars are being blown up. You have to see it to believe it.”

It's been one of the most eagerly anticipated sequels in a couple of years and at long last the wait is over with the arrival of this year's most talked about film, Golmaal Returns. We got the first look of the film last week in Mumbai at Cinemax Theatre in the presence of the entire A-star cast comprised of Ajay Devgan, Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Celina Jaitely, Shreyas Talpade and Anjana Sukhani.

Apparently, the other two lead actors, Kareena Kapoor and Amrita Arora, could not make it due to other commitments.

The film poster was there for the world to see, alongside a video promo and one of the songs in the movie, and I have to say the feature, directed by Rohit Shetty, looks like a rollercoaster ride filled with tons of laughter.

The success of the film's prequel Golmaal has raised a lot of expectations for Golmaal Returns, and judging by the way sequels have fared in Bollywood recently, all eyes are set firmly on the film.

The producers of the film, Shree Ashtavinayak, are also planning a special screening for the UK media sometime in October, which makes sense because their lead actor Ajay Devgan happens to be in town filming for his next biggie, London Dreams.

By the way, Golmaal Returns is ready to hit the big screens across the world on October 29. But that's not all. Don't be surprised if you see Ajay Devgan walking down Oxford Street next month.

That's right! The actor is scheduled to arrive in London on September 27 to shoot his next big feature directed by Vipul Shah called London Dreams.

Accompanying him will be his co-star, and superstar of Bollywood, Salman Khan, and the new face from the south of India, Asin.

Now we all know that any film which Vipul Shah touches turns to gold but what is surprising is the fact that his lucky mascot, actor Akshay Kumar, is not a part of this mega-project. Akki, as he is fondly known in the industry, has worked with Vipul Shah in all his previous films and his absence from this film will definitely raise a few eyebrows.

Having said that, London Dreams also marks the return of Salman and Ajay together after their 1999 blockbuster hit Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. It'll be interesting to see how they transfer their magic on to the silver screen this time around after nearly a decade.

Vipul Shah's earlier film Namastey London was also set in the capital and with his great interest and love for this city, I am not at all surprised to see him come back and shoot the film here.

He has even managed to use the name 'London' for both his previous and new film titles. Whether this is down to superstition or not, I don't know, but what I do know for sure is that it will be a big film to watch out for next year.

New stars come and go, but seldom do truly great screen actors appear, performers of such intensity and focus they are near-guaranteed a long, illustrious and award-strewn career. Such an actor is Ajay Devgan.

Like many Indian acting talents before him, he faced being typecast as a hardcore action hero but, through a combination of hard study for his roles in films like Zakhm and Apaharan, and risky experiments like Golmaal, he rose above that demeaning destiny to become one of the very few National Award and Filmfare winners.

For the most part steering clear of big budget mainstream Bollywood projects, he has now cemented his reputation as both an artist and a character actor.

Now Arshad Warsi has tattooed Saif’s name on his chest. (Er… for a film)

It’s a medley of tattoos in Rohit Shetty’s next comic caper Golmaal Returns.

Arshad Warsi will be seen sporting a tattoo that reads ‘Saif’ on his chest, while Ajay Devgan will have one that says ‘Ekta’ (don’t get confused reader, that’s Kareena Kapoor’s screen name in Golmaal Returns).

However, Rohit realised that he had to take Saif’s permission before engraving his name on Arshad Warsi’s chest.

Said Rohit, “When this entire ‘tattoo’ issue was covered by the media, I was quite amazed at the publicity it generated.

That’s when I thought of using tattoos in the film. In fact the Ajay-Kareena tattoo scene is right in the beginning of the film.”

Rohit didn’t want to use the tattoos at the cost of hurting Kareena or Saif’s sentiments.

Saif was informed of the same and even saw the scene before it was sent for final editing.

Said Rohit, “Saif and Kareena are my friends and I didn’t want to hurt anyone and so we informed them about the same.”

Our source added, “Saif was always aware of that particular scene.

When Kareena was dubbing for the film, Saif had visited her and that’s when he showed him the scene in question. He was okay with it and took it in the right spirit, and even enjoyed the scene.”

Als Kareena den Ton im Studio einspielte, hat Saif sie besucht, und da hat Rohit ihm die entsprechende Szene gezeigt. Sie war für ihn in Ordnung, er hat es locker genommen und genossen."

People who have seen the clippings of the song 'Karke' from the forthcoming film 'Golmaal Returns' and also a particular song titled 'athiradee' from Tamil Superstar Rajnikant's super hit film 'Sivaji' directed by Shankar will find a great deal of similarity in the style of visualization as well as the sets used in the songs.

This striking similarity did not happen like a coincidence but was deliberately planned.

Rohit Shetty, the director of 'Golmal Returns' was shooting the movie 'Sunday' in Hyderabad when he decided to just go and see the shooting of 'Shivaji'.

He was very impressed by the sets of the Tamil song and thought of using the same style and design as there was a space for a song of a same kind in 'Golmaal Returns'.

The song is touted to be one of the highlights of the film because of its lavish sets, a big star cast, a large number of dancers and a combination of dance and action.

Shot in a studio in Mumbai at a mind blowing budget of Rs.6 crores and having 1000 dancers and fighters, "Karke" is choreographed by Ganesh Acharya.

The stars of the film toiled hard for 12 days to complete the shooting of the track.

Though Ajay Devgan is in England shooting for Vipul Shah's London Dreams, he has taken personal trainer Sherveer Vakil, better known as Sheru, along. The actor was keen he accompany him to continue with his fitness regime during the long outdoor shoot. Sheru has also been seen in films like Welcome, Go, James, Shiva and will also be seen in Golmaal Returns.

All for Sheru

It is learnt that just before flying to London, Sheru badly injured his knee while working out at the gym. When Ajay heard about it, he made personal calls to the doctors and ensured that Sheru receive prompt medical attention. As the injury happened just two days prior to the departure, the doctors suggested that he undergo an operation for quicker recovery.

Says a source, "On the day of the flight, Ajay had Sheru picked up from his home. As he could not walk due to the surgery, a wheelchair was arranged. Ajay personally wheeled him inside the terminal."

Like a baby

Speaking from London, Sheru says, "Ajay has been taking great care of me. He has made me feel like a baby! The most embarrassing part was Ajay wheeling me around. Onlookers were wondering who I was. You don't normally see a star wheeling anyone!"

It is learnt that Ajay also made sure that Sherveer was put up in the same hotel (St James Court) as he is.
Says Ajay, "Sheru has been very inspiring to me. His attitude towards life is positive. It is great to have positive people around you."

Sherveer wurde natürlich im selben Hotel wie Ajay (St. James Court ) untergebracht. Dazu meint der Schauspieler: "Sheru hat mich sehr beeinflusst. Seine Lebenseinstellung ist so positiv, und es ist einfach toll, positiv eingestellte Menschen um sich zu haben."

Amidst much speculations, talks were rife of the possibility of Sanjay Gadhvi's Sanjay Dutt–Imran Khan starrer, KIDNAP, carrying in its prints the trailer of Aamir Khan's GHAJINI. But that was never the case, even though both the above mentioned movies are Studio 18/Indian Films releases.

In fact KIDNAP carries with it the trailers of Rohit Shetty's Ajay Devgan, Kareena Kapoor and Arshad Warsi starrer, GOLMAAL RETURNS and a few other promos as well. So where does that leave Murugadoss's much awaited Aamir Khan, Asin, Jiah Khan and Mohit Ahlawat action extravaganza, GHAJINI?

Well, the first theatrical promo of the Christmas release, GHAJINI, is expected to be unleashed on the big screen on Diwali, included in the prints of GOLMAAL RETURNS, which will release worldwide on 29th October.

Trotz vieler Spekulationen wird KIDNAP keine GHAJINI-Trailer enthalten, obwohl beide Filme von Studio 18 auf die Leinwand gebracht werden. Stattdessen gibt es bei KIDNAP die Trailer für GOLMAAL RETURNS. Und die GHANJINI-Trailer kommen dann in GR ... am 29. Oktober.

Ajay Devgan will play gangster Haji Mastan in Ekta Kapoor and Suniel Shetty's film, Once Upon A Time In Mumbai

Ajay Devgan has been finalised to play Haji Mastan in Ekta Kapoor and Suniel Shetty's film, Once Upon A Time In Mumbai. Ajay , who signed on the dotted line last week, is quite excited about the role. This is not the first time Ajay will be playing a gangster. He had played a similar character in Ram Gopal Varma's Company.

A source said, “Both, director Milan Luthria and Suniel Shetty always wanted to cast Ajay as his physical characteristics perfectly match that of Haji Mastan. But it was only last week that Milan went to Phuket to narrate the script to Ajay, where he is shooting for Toonpur Ka Superhero, and things fell into place. Ajay loved his role and immediately signed on the dotted line. Emraan Hashmi has already been signed to play Dawood Ibrahim in the film.”

Reportedly, Ajay and Milan have been great friends and have done two films earlier - Chori Chori and Kachche Dhaage. The source added, “Milan's film deals with the underworld in the '80s. Haji Mastan and Vardarajan Mudliar are the two vital characters in the film. At that time, Dawood was only a young gangster who was trying to make his mark in the crime world. The leading lady opposite Ajay Devgan will soon be finalised.”

When contacted, Milan Luthria said, “This genre is Ajay Devgan's forte. Very few can convey intensity as effortlessly and as impressively as he does. For me, it is always a delight to work with a fine actor and a good friend like Ajay.”

“We have been in discussion with Ajay for a couple of months now. But because of his erratic schedule we couldn't find time to discuss the film in Mumbai. That's when Ajay's manager, Kumar Mangat suggested that we could meet Ajay in Phuket. I went to Phuket with writer Rajat Arora and Ramesh Sippy of Balaji Films and the deal was finalised after a three-day meeting. Apart from the film, it was good to meet my old friend. We have been close right from the days when I was assisting Mahesh Bhatt and he made his debut in Phool Aur Kaante. Ajay has also acted in my directorial debut film, Kachche Dhaage, which was a huge success. The expectations are bound to be high as we are reuniting for this new action film,” added Milan.

Haji Mastan Mirza was popularly known as Haji Mastan or Gul Mastan. He was a Mumbai-based gangster and smuggler through the '60s and '70s. Mastan was imprisoned during the Emergency. He became a Muslim leader in 1984 and formed Dalit Muslim Surakhsha Maha Sangh in 1985-86. He passed away in 1994.

Dem Vernehmen nach sind Ajay und Milan gute Freunde und haben schon zwei Filme zusammen gemacht: CHORI CHORI und KACHCHE DHAAGE. Die Quelle weiter: "Milans Film handelt von der Unterwelt in den 1980er-Jahren. Haji Mastan und Vardarjan Mudliar sind die zwei bestimmenden Charaktere des Films. Damals war Dawood erst ein junger Gangster, der versuchte, seinen Weg in der Welt des Verbrechens zu machen. Die Rolle der Heldin neben Ajay Devgan wird erst noch besetzt werden."
Milan Luthria bekannte auf Anfrage: "Dieses Genre ist Ajay Devgans Stärke. Nur sehr wenige Schauspieler können die Intensität so ohne Anstrengung und eindrucksvoll rüberbringen wie er es tut. Für mich ist es immer ein Vergnügen, mit einem tollen Schauspieler und guten Freund wie Ajay zu arbeiten. Wir standen über Monate hinweg mit Ajay in Kontakt, konnten aber wegen seines vollen Terminkalenders keinen gemeinsamen Termin in Mumbai finden, um ausführlich über das Projekt zu sprechen. Kumar Mangat, Ajays Manager, hat dann vorgeschlagen, ihn in Phuket zu treffen. Ich bin also mit dem Drehbuchschreiber Rajat Arora und Ramesh Sippy von Balaji Films nach Phuket geflogen, und nach drei Tagen war der Vertrag unter Dach und Fach. Neben der Sache mit dem Film war es schön gewesen, meinen alten Freund zu treffen. Wir kennen uns schon seit meinen Tagen als Assistent von Mahesh Bhatt und seinem Debüt in PHOOL AUR KAANTE gut. Kajol and Nysa are leaving for London tonight. They plan to surprise Ajay Devgan who is shooting there

Ajay Devgan, who has been shooting in London, is in for a pleasant surprise. His wife Kajol and four-year-old daughter Nysa will be going to London tonight to be with him. Ajay is in London shooting for Vipul Shah’s London Dreams from September 15.

Kajol and Nysa will stay with Ajay for 10-12 days. A source close to the Devgan family said, “Kajol has been missing Ajay quite a lot. Normally, Ajay does not go on such long outdoor shoots. This one is going to continue till October end.”

Last week, Kajol told Ajay on the phone that she really misses him. Two days ago, she suddenly decided to fly down to London with Nysa. Our source added, “Ajay does not know the exact date when they will land in London. He just knows that Kajol has decided to come over with Nysa.”

And what about Nysa's school? “Kajol has taken the requisite leave. Nysa is just four years old and it won't be a tough task to make up for the few days when she will not be attending school,” said the source.

“A few days ago, Ajay was a little unwell. That is also why Kajol wants to be as close to him as possible,” added the source.

London Dreams stars Salman Khan, Ajay Devgan and South Indian actress, Asin. The film is about two childhood buddies who dream of becoming rock stars some day. While one friend succeeds, the other fails miserably. Buzz is, Ajay is so impressed by Farhan Akhtar's latest film Rock On!! that he has suggested some changes in the script of London Dreams.

Milan Luthria (who last directed Hattrick) is busy with the pre-production of his next film titled Once Upon A Time In Mumbai. For this film, that deals with the origin of the Mafia scene in Mumbai (during the 70's& 80's), Milan has signed Ajay Devgan to play the main lead. Rumors have it that Ajay's character is loosely based on notorious don Haji Mastan who ruled the crime syndicate in Mumbai during that era.

However, when Bollywood Hungama called up Milan, he did confirm having signed Ajay for the film but dispelled any notions of his character being based on Haji Mastan. "Ajay is doing my film Once Upon A Time In Mumbai but it would be wrong to say that his character is based on the notorious gangster Haji Mastan. There is a lot of media speculation going on but there is no truth to it. My film basically talks of how the Mafia came into force for the first time in Mumbai. It's a fast paced action thriller which depicts the crime scenario in Mumbai during the 70's and 80's. We have done research in finding out who were the people who ruled the crime syndicate, how did they operate, what was their code of conduct etc. at that time in Mumbai. But let me make it clear that our film is a totally fictional account and is not based on anybody's life."

So who else stars in the film apart from Ajay Devgan? "We are yet to finalize the other actors. There are 3 female leads also but we are still in the process of developing each character before we can go ahead with the complete casting. As for Ajay, he is the best in this genre and hasn't done a film like this in a while. I needed somebody with controlled intensity. Besides Ajay and I have done 2 films together (Chori Chori and Kachche Dhaage). We share a good comfort level. In my last couple of films, I didn't have a suitable role for him. But this time when the opportunity came by, I approached him and am glad that we are working together once again," says the talented filmmaker.

The film is produced by Balaji Motion Pictures along with Popcorn Entertainment and goes on floors in May 2009. Major portions of the film will be shot in Mumbai while some important scenes will be filmed in Vishakhapatnam, Dubai and Bangkok.

Außerdem haben Ajay und ich zwei Filme zusammen gemacht ( Chori Chori und Kachcha Dhaage). Wir teilen einen guten komfortablen Level. In den letzten Filmen hatte ich keine passende Rolle für ihn. Aber diesmal, als die Gelegenheit sich bot, haben ich ihn angesprochen und ich bin glücklich, dass wir wieder zusammenarbeiten,“ sagt der talentierte Filmemacher.
Der Film wird von Balaji Motion Pictures und Popcorn Entertainment produziert und soll im Mai 2009 in die Kinos kommen. Ein groß Teil der Dreharbeiten wird in Mumbai stattfinden und einige wichtige Szenen werden in Vishakhapatnam, Dubai und Bangkok gedreht.

Then I heard that dates from all the artistes were taken for a certain song but then this ensemble song was shot with Kareena and Ajay Devgan alone.

Why so much goalmaal?
