Golmaal 3 in the making? 01 Oct, 2008 06:00 am ISTlPankaj Sabnani/INDIATIMES MOVIES
Golmaal Returns is about a month away from its release. But director Rohit Shetty already has his eyes set on the third part of the Golmaal series.
“I am waiting to see how the audience reacts to Golmaal Returns . I am quite confident that people will like Golmaal Returns. And if the reaction is positive, we will definitely go for another part,” said Rohit.
If at all a third part is made, will we see any changes in the star cast? “I am very happy with the current star cast of the film. So I will go with them only.”
Meanwhile, Golmaal Returns which stars Ajay Devgan, Tusshar Kapoor, Arshad Warsi, Sahreyas Talpade, Kareena Kapoor, Amrita Arora and Anjana Sukhani is all set to release during Diwali on October 31st.
London: Ajay Devgan, who is presently shooting for Vipul Shah's London Dreams on location, was invited to an annual charity gala dinner co-hosted by Mrs Cherie Blair (Britain's ex-PM, Tony Blair's wife) and the Loomba trust.
The UK India Business Council hosts the prestigious event every year.
The event took place last night at the Banqueting House, Whitehall and was attended by over 300 guests from both the British and Indian communities in London. London's mayor Boris Johnson was guest of honour. Also present was the Indian High Commissioner."
Ajay Devgan was busy shooting but made it a point to attend, "Ajay specially requested producer-director Vipul Shah to grant him an early pack-up on October 2. Ana Singh designed a formal black suit for the evening."
Speaking from London, the actor says, "By attending the gala dinner, I will mark my support towards humanity and non-violence. Though Kajol too has been invited, I don't think she will be able to make it."
The Loomba Trust
The source adds, "The Loomba Trust is a charity organisation which gives practical help to widows and their children globally. Ajay has always been proud to be affiliated to causes especially which are for women, children and about society. Ajay's close friend Mandeep Kakkar is also a patron of the Loomba Trust (Cherie Blair is the President of the Trust). Mandeep has spoken about the deeds and charities which Ajay and Kajol support in India and that has impressed Cherie Blair. Hence the invitation has been extended only to the two of them."

After basking in the success of his last film Singh is Kinng for a while, Vipul Amrutlal Shah is back to business. The producer-director is busy filming his next directorial venture London Dreams in and around the British capital.
The film stars Salman Khan and Ajay Devgan in lead roles while South sensation Asin is the female lead. Its is after almost a decade that Ajay and Salman are acting together and fans would be eagerly looking forward to see if they can recreate the Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam magic all over again. As for Asin, she surely seems to be making all the right moves in Bollywood; after having worked with Aamir Khan in the forthcoming film Ghajini, she will now be seen opposite Ajay Devgan and Salman Khan in London Dreams.
The trio was spotted shooting some pivotal scenes in London recently. Ajay looks dapper in his suit as usual but a striking feature is the studs that he is sporting on his ear. As for Sallu, he looks every bit the 'Rockstar' that he is in his blue and green checked shirt while Asin is seen looking lovely in the lavender dress.
With such a stellar cast and Vipul Shah at the helm of things, London Dreams surely is touted to be among the biggies next year.
Salman Khan threw an Eid party for the entire cast and crew of Vipul Amrutlal Shah's London Dreams. Interestingly, this will be the actor's first Eid away from his family. Every year, Khan throws a bash either at his Bandra flat or at his Panvel farmhouse.
At the party
Says a source present at Salman's bash, "Salman threw the party at his St James Court Hotel (Central London) suite. The menu was delicious. Says the source, "There were all kinds of Eid delicacies including mutton biryani, nawaabi biryani, mutton korma, all kinds of kababs and kheer, sheer korma and seviyaan for dessert. Even the normally reclusive Ajay Devgan who doesn't come for filmi bashes in Mumbai, came for Salman's party though he had to attend Cherie Blair's charity event that night. The party rocked till the wee hours. Salman and Ajay have been bonding in a big way while shooting for London Dreams in Paris and London."
The source adds, "It was an intimate party for about 25 people including producer-director Vipul Shah, co- producer Paramjeet Singh, Ajay Devgan and Asin but Salman made sure that the entire cast and crew including the film's DoP Sejal Shah was invited to the party. He personally invited everyone."
"Golmaal Returns has maintained the flavour of Golmaal" - Shreyas Talpade By Devansh Patel, October 6, 2008 - 14:53 IST
Nobody, absolutely nobody who's worked with Shreyas Talpade has a bad remark to be made against him. I've never, ever heard of him pulling a star turn or showing any ego. He is like a diamond cutter. You don't just look at the diamond, you only notice that there is no flaw. For me, he is the young Naseer saab or Om Puri who, in years to come, is going to be India's finest actors around. His Iqbal gave him recognition, his Dor gave him maturity and his Om Shanti Om gave him his biggest blockbuster hit till date. That's not all. With his Welcome To Sajjanpur being screened at this years London Film Festival taking place from October 15 to 30th, the actor is on cloud nine and is looking forward to his next big release Golmaal Returns. Bollywood Hungama's London correspondent Devansh Patel brings to you this exclusive talkathon with Talpade where he talks about Celina, Tusshar, his directors Rohit Shetty and Nagesh Kukunoor and why he thinks that Golmaal Returns will have a blast this Diwali.
The new 'Sajjan' Shreyas Talpade has taken over from the Iqbal and Dor types to the one doing Golmaal. What say? (laughs). In fact when I was in theatre, there was a lot of comedy I did and I really enjoyed doing the plays. It is difficult to make people laugh but I guess if you enjoy doing it then people will enjoy seeing it too.
You are the only new comer from the bunch of four lunatics by taking Sharman Joshi's place. Did your role demand to see Golmaal part one? I have seen Golmaal part one and now we begin from where my director Rohit Shetty left the four mad men (laughs). It is a new story and they are not friends in this new series. Ajay Devgan's character works in a company and I work under Ajay. Tusshar is Ajay's brother in law.
What was more important for me was jelling with the entire team because the chemistry from part one had to be continued in part two. I had to look as a part of the team and not a new comer in the gang. It was possible only because of my director Rohit Shetty, who is a cool guy, who made me comfortable and secondly Ajay, Arshad and Tusshar were superb in terms of improvising, co-operating and supporting me. I was made to feel at home right from day one.
In a recent interview with Celina in Mumbai, she revealed to me that the two co-stars she'd love to work again and again are Tusshar Kapoor and Shreyas Talpade. What makes you special in front of her? (laughs) This was the first time I've worked with Celina and for her to make that remark is inspiring. I was so pleasantly surprised by seeing her dedication and her approach towards her character, even in terms of improvising, suggesting and adding certain things. We did a lot of masti together. If you have a co-star who is so enthusiastic and charged up to contribute then its complete fun to work. The whole rapport goes much beyond than just sharing the screen space. The kind of rapport me, Tusshar and Celina now have is, touchwood, amazing. We talk nonsense and can go on for hours together talking bull sh**, but we have a great time. I would any day prefer working with Tusshar and Celina.
Is there any of your film to look out for opposite Celina or Tusshar? Well, in fact, Celina and I have worked in a film together called Paying Guest. It's a Mukta Arts film directed by Paritosh Painter who is a well known theatre personality. I've known Paritosh since college. We were in the same drama team for five years. It was like going back to the college nostalgia thing with Paritosh. With Celina, I knew her strengths and what she was capable of. So we had a ball shooting together.
What's 'Paying Guest' all about? It's about four friends who are looking for a place to stay as Paying Guests and for that what all they need to do. It's shot in Bangkok.
Wow, you again go to Bangkok then? (laughs). Yes. Seems like I will soon be getting a citizenship of Bangkok.
Are you proud of the fact that your film Welcome to Sajjanpur is to be screened at the prestigious London Film Festival 2008? Absolutely. It is definitely an honour I should say. The film getting selected in the London Film Festival this year is a huge deal for the entire team. For me, first of all, doing a Shyam Benegal film was an honour and the film getting selected at the LFF is indeed a proud moment for anyone who is doing his first solo project. It is running very well in the cinemas across India right now. So it's party time for all of us and we should celebrate.
It's gone to the London Film Festival but the film hasn't released theatrically in the U.K. Are you upset of that fact? Kind of, but it's because of the London Film Festival. We had to first screen it there and only after that's over we can release it. So I am sure the producer and the director will be looking to release it in the cinemas soon. Let's hope so.
Now that Golmaal is returning, is Shreyas going to 'Tha Kar De' everyone? (laughs) It's definitely going to work brother. There is a shock element in the film but I am happy for the fact that I am able to maintain some sort of a balance in the scripts I am signing, whether it may be comedy, horror or whatever. I am proud of Golmaal Returns. 'Tha Kar Ke' is inspired from the Rajnikant film Sivaji which Rohit Shetty saw and thought that we should have a song like that. And there was a bit of scope of such a song in the film. So all of us felt that we should do it. It has some 300 dancers, 150 stunt men with blasts happening and cars flying over each other. It's a fun song which took about 12 days to shoot. I am not sure how much was the cost involved but it definitely cost the producers a bomb.
What makes Golmaal Returns different from other comedy films you've done in the past? In a way the genre is same. It's slapstick, mad and over the top kind of comedy. But the kind of twists and turns that are there in Golmaal Returns are amazing. It has somewhere maintained the kind of honesty and innocence that was there in part one. So you won't find stars in the film but characters. Golmaal Returns has maintained the flavour of part one Golmaal.
You will always be remembered as a boy in Nagesh Kukunoor's Iqbal. Now Aashayein is on hold. Is it something that you've discussed with your friend Nagesh about? See, I'm not a part of Aashayein. John Abraham is in it. So honestly I don't know the status of the film and what is really happening with it. I was told that they have postponed the release date for reasons best known to them. The film is complete and I am sure it must've shaped up really well knowing what Nagesh's capabilities are.
Has Nagesh approached you for any of his forthcoming projects? I'm not a part of the three films he is doing right now. Tasveer with Akshay Kumar, Aashayein with John Abraham and there is one more he is shooting for in Jaipur as we talk. But you know, with Nagesh, he knows that I'll be there for him and with him whenever he needs me. He has already made it clear that if a particular character suits me then it's only me who will do it and no one else. So, I go by his word and am looking forward to work with him again. Even though he is filming, there is this unpredictable quality in him that I like. He keeps you on your toes as an actor. He has given me two of my best films in my career.
Let's return to Golmaal. Any premiere plans of Golmaal Returns in London just like your previous film Om Shanti Om had in Leicester Square? I don't know. But going by the buzz, the curiosity is very positive just like Om Shanti Om. We would love to be there in London because London has given me my biggest blockbuster till date. So you can say it's my lucky venue and I hope someday even my solo films get released in London and we have a premiere there.
Any parting message for your fans who are waiting for a blast this Diwali in the form of Golmaal Returns? Well, I am sure they won't regret. They will have a great time and if they are expecting a blast, they will get a blast. They will only come out laughing by the end of the film. I'd like to thank them all for their support and even Welcome to Sajjanpur might release shortly. So I hope both my films are able to bring a smile on their faces.
Ajay Devgan who was presently shooting in London for Vipul Shah's London Dreams was invited by Mrs Cherie Blair (Britain's ex-PM, Tony Blair's wife) for a dinner organized by the Loomba trust. This event is hosted every year by the UK India Business Council. The Loomba Trust is a charity organization which lends support to widows and their children globally. Though Ajay was busy in shooting, he made it a point to honor the invitation and packed up early that particular day.
For that special evening, designer Ana Singh designed a formal suit for Ajay. Speaking from London, the actor said, "By attending the gala dinner, I will mark my support towards humanity and non-violence. Though Kajol too has been invited, I don't think she will be able to make it."

"With Shreyas coming in the picture, nobody will remember Sharman" - Celina By Devansh Patel, October 7, 2008 - 15:32 IST
Who said 'Sexy' begins with 'S'? Though she's now one of cinema's busiest actresses, Celina Jaitely is not about quantity. Inhabiting her characters rather than simply 'Being A Star', she's become the equal of such recent luminaries as Priyanka Chopra, Lara Dutta and, yes, Kareena Kapoor. Outside of her home nation, particularly in Egypt, she's the 'hot' favourite. It's pouring cats and dogs outside Celina's house in Mumbai. Luckily, I got there in time and just in time for the hot tea which arrives for me the moment I sit on the sofa taking out my recorder. The actress is all excited and ready to return back to the comedy genre after her recent debacle Money Hai Toh Honey Hai. And for a change, Golmaal Returns is looking like it's going to give her more in return than her previous film. In this Bollywood Hungama exclusive, London correspondent Devansh Patel meets Miss Jaitley and gets her talking on Golmaal Returns, Shreyas Talpade, Ajay Devgan, Kareena Kapoor, her de-glam look in the film, and yes, her intelligence. Didn't I say, 'Sexy' begins with 'C'?
In your film career so far, you've been a part of seven comic capers. What made you sign your eight - Golmaal Returns? I did Golmaal Returns because I loved the prequel Golmaal and somehow I wanted to do a movie which would have the capability to become as big as a No Entry. The role I portray in Golmaal Returns was offered to me only because my director Rohit Shetty was confident that I could play a de-glam girl in the film compared to all other heroines who are present. I play a South Indian woman who is called Mira Nair. She comes from a very strict Brahmin family. I was looking forward for a role like that because I am fed up of doing glamorous roles. There is much more to me than just being a barbie on screen.
But in a highly male dominated film, do you think you will be noticed? Yes, Golmaal Returns is a male dominated film but it's also a story. As an actor, I believe that all actors make up a story. Even with one of the character's missing, the story can take a bad turn. So, I always see to it that a particular role suits my image. Here I was going to be seen in a new avatar. Secondly, this is a role which the children are going to love and thirdly I wanted to work with Rohit Shetty. Then it was my first time with Ajay Devgan. It was an amazing experience. It was also my second time with Shreyas Talpade who plays my co-star in Golmaal Returns. Then I worked with Kareena Kapoor for the first time and it is always nice to be working with someone who is your senior and who knows much more about the film industry. After all, she comes from a practically a historical film family. It was a great experience for me overall and there was so much I learnt from it.
You've mentioned in all your interviews that Red is your best film till date. Any change of opinion after you've done Golmaal Returns? Yes, Red will always be my most serious and the best performance till date. Comedy is a totally different genre all together. Golmaal Returns is a full on commercial film. If you've enjoyed No Entry, you'll love Golmaal Returns. As far as Red is concerned, it will always be one of those roles which I will remember my entire life.
Did the entire cast and crew miss the presence of Sharman Joshi who was in the prequel Golmaal? With Shreyas Talpade coming in the picture, no body is going to remember Sharman Joshi. Shreyas is a brilliant actor and I don't need to prove that. We all know him for Iqbal, Dor and Om Shanti Om. He is very versatile and he can play any given role with a lot of belief.
Did you have to go through any South Indian tuitions or training classes for your role? (laughs) Golmaal Returns cinematographer was fondly called Nutty, short for Natarajan. Me and Shreyas used to go to him and ask him, "Agar Bachao bolna hai to kaise bolna hai?" (laughs). So I was the one who was using the maximum South Indian words. Even though I was a girl born and brought up in Mumbai, you still have a tendency to use your Bengali, South Indian or a Gujarati language at home. Credit should go to Nutty Sir for bearing me throughout Golmaal Returns.
So how is the de-glam Celina attired in the film? Very simple, with kurta's, jeans and jholas and of course, the South Indian saree and the ghaghra - choli which many wear down south. I am also wearing black contact lenses which were ordered for me especially from London. Practically no make up for me except the kaajal. My character took a real turn when I and Shreyas were filming this engagement scene in the hotel where I was wearing the lehenga with gajra and a choti. A typical South Indian look. We had some aunts and uncles too in the scene. But some of the people from the hotel misunderstood us as the South Indian family. It was hilarious.
We hear that the premiere of the film is to take place in Dubai. Any idea? No. I haven't heard of it.
If it does happen in Dubai, do you think it's a good idea? Honestly, it's ok to premiere it anywhere in the world because now-a-days you'll find Indians in abundance everywhere. Golmaal is such a film which will not only be loved by the Indians but all the Asian community as well. We've got a huge fan following in the Middle East too.
Where would you like the premiere to happen? If it was in my hands, I'd have the premiere in the U.K. Whenever I have gone to the U.K, I've been loved and cared the most, whether it's my personal trip or to promote my films. I love U.K and my best friend, Tanuj, lives there.
With you being paired opposite Shreyas, are we going to see you with any of the other co-actor in the film? Yes. For a change, Golmaal Returns is not cliched. I've got many scenes with Ajay Devgan in the film. It was interesting working with him because I've been a big fan of his since I saw Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. He is a very intense actor. He is my favourite romantic hero too.
Tell us a bit about the unexplored side of the funny bunch of actors in the film. Tusshar Kapoor and Shreyas Talpade are the most fun co-stars I've worked with till date. Three of us get along like a house on fire. We'd start laughing in the morning and after pack up we stop. We keep on sending messages to each other talking nonsense all day long. It is fun.
Why would people return to watch Golmaal Returns this time around? Honestly, leave your mind at home, brains at home. Come with an open heart with full entertainment. Laugh a lot and go back home and then again if you feel watching it twice, come back or should I say - Return? You will see the lightest side of the most complex situations that people are put into in Golmaal Returns. It's not slapstick, it's situational.
This time around, are we going to see the scene continue from where it was left in Golmaal one where Ajay and Arshad do a spoof on the film Black? (laughs) How did you come to know about this? But yes, the most famous 'Black' scene is there in part two too and I am somewhere there in it. We started shooting that scene on the same day of the Press conference we had for unveiling the first look of Golmaal Returns. That same day at 11pm, we started and finished it at 7am the next day. In fact, you will see Black and Red too (laughs). Don't worry, Red is just me being silly.
I've heard that there are two songs which are the most expensive songs shot in Indian cinema in Golmaal Returns. Is it true or just to market the film? It is true. Yes, 'Tha Kar Ke' is expensive with hundreds of extras acting in it and real cars being blown up. Rohit hasn't used any toy car or any props. But there is this other song shot between me and Ajay Devgan where I play the man's role and he plays the woman and how I hold him by his legs and he revolves round and round on the deck of the ship. The glimpses of which are seen in the promo. Actually, it is the funniest song shot in the history of Indian cinema. People are going to fall off their chairs watching it (laughs). I am all in a gown but playing a man (laughs).
We also got to know that you suffered an eye infection during the shooting of Golmaal Returns? Yes. I did have an eye infection once and because of that I could not attend three major press events at the beginning of the promotional schedule. So a lot of people said that I was being excluded from the film and said all sorts of things like there was a competition going on between Kareena and Celina, etc. So this is a misunderstanding I'd like to clear.
You're a brand ambassador for the Egypt Tourism. Do you then recommend directors to go and shoot their films in the beautiful country? Of course yes. Recently, there was a song from Singh Is King which was shot in front of the beautiful pyramids. We did a lot of publicity for the tourism back in Egypt and in India. Egypt is one of the most romantic destinations in the world. Let's not forget the famous love story of Cleopatra and Ceasar which took place in Egypt. I was still in two minds whether I should take this opportunity to be an ambassador or not and then I realised that I was a mountain girl. I was born and brought up around the mountains of India and so to be in the middle of the desert was exciting. If I was in a relationship, I would've gone to Egypt for my romantic holiday. People think that the pyramids are gorgeous but for me the river Nile is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. I went on a cruise through the river and I felt that I was travelling back in time and history.
This is your first film with your producers Shree Ashtavinayak. How was the entire experience? It's one of the best production houses I've worked with. I've been very lucky because so far I've worked with the best of the lot. They know what they are doing and that's a good thing about these producers. You don't go through any troubles and they look after you very well. Having said that, they spoil you sometimes. Whatever the director requires it's there for him because they think for the betterment of the entire film. So the final product is always lavish and good.
Do you think that Golmaal Returns is the apt title for the second part? Yes, because the first part Golmaal was a hit. Everybody knew Golmaal and the title track of the film. So when you're trying to create the same magic for the similar star cast with the same kind of story continuing, I think nothing could be better than adding 'returns' to the first name.
Tell us about one of the famous Mithun Chakraborty song you sang and fell down laughing. (laughs) We were singing 'Zoobie Zoobie Zoobie' from the film Dance Dance. And Shreyas and Tusshar also joined in the act. It's one of our all time favourite songs. We sang the song all the way to Thailand and back. Imagine us three dancing to the song (laughs).
Are you aware of the fact that the media counts you as one of the most intelligent actresses around after Lara Dutta? Me and Lara are best of friends. So it's good to know that. I don't know what makes me intelligent. I just speak my mind and if you think that's intelligent then be it. Me and Lara come from a very strong third and fourth generation of military background, and I guess that outspokenness and holding oneself together and some mannerisms play a vital role. But in today's day and age, you want to speak your mind out without being abusive and rude and that's intelligence for me.
Why go and watch Golmaal Returns this Diwali? Because if you'd like to spend your money on your entertainment, go and spend it on Golmaal Returns.

Ever since Ajay's directorial debut venture, U ME AUR HUM failed to make much of an impact at the box–office or even garner critical acclaim, not much has been heard about the actor–director, save for a few shooting details about his next film, the animated TOONPOOR KA SUPERHERO and Rajkumar Santoshi's LONDON DREAMS. His fans heaved a sigh of relief after seeing him in peak form once again in Rohit Shetty's destined to succeed, GOLMAAL RETURNS.
However, there is more good news in store for his fans who are more than willing to give Devgan a second chance at direction. He confirms that he is producing two films under his banner, Devgan Entertainment Software Ltd. One of the films will be directed by an outside director, Chandan Arora of MAIN MADHURI DIXIT BANNA CHAHTI HOON and MAIN MERI PATNI AUR WOH. For the next project, Devgan himself will take up the responsibilities of direction. The film will be whacky comedy, a fun film but with sensibilities attached to it.
So, with Prakash Jha's RAJNEETI, Rajkumar Santoshi's LONDON DREAMS and a few more projects in the pipeline the super–actor seems set for another big innings, even though he has been going through a rough patch off late All the best, Ajay.
All amateur singers should be inspired by Ajay Devgan and step outside the shower.
The actor, who notoriously lent his voice to a few lines in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam with appalling results, actually sang live and plugged-in at the Royal Albert Hall in London. And, what’s more, Devgan got a standing ovation. It happened like this...
Devgan, and Salman Khan, were shooting at the world renowned music and entertainment venue in Knightsbridge for London Dreamz. And, on the sets were wife Kajol and daughter Nysa. To surprise them, Devgan picked up the mike and sang, unmindful of the fact that he was connected to the central sound system of the hall and all hundred members of the film’s crew could hear him.
What did Devgan sing? The popular Air Supply number I’m All Out Of Love. He started off on a false note, reported a crew member, but then, drawing the attention of Nysa and Kajol, Devgan carried on in perfect pitch. The Royal Albert Hall, of course, has had more recognised virtuosos playing to its acoustics, but when Devgan had finished... wife, daughter, co-stars and crew all stood up and clapped.
Bollywood, naturally, is delighted with this news. If it could convince and train Farhan Akhtar to get before the camera and act and sing, the industry is thrilled to imagine what it might do with Ajay Devgan.
Den bekannten Air Supply Hit "I'm all out of Love".
A few days ago before leaving for Paris, when Ajay Devgan had a chat with Tusshar Kapoor about his next release Rohit Shetty's Golmaal Returns, little did Tusshar realise what was in store for him.
Serious advice
Tusshar, who is presently in Tirupati, says, "Ajay saw Golmaal Returns before he left for London and Paris and told me that he appreciated my work in the film but I must be very particular about the dubbing. Ajay said to give myself completely to the character. I play a mute guy and it's tougher for that to dub than actual dialogues. It was important that I experiment with my dubbing techniques and try something different. Ajay is a master at dubbing and he never takes more than one hour to dub for an entire film, so I took his advice seriously."
Tusshar says he practised so hard that after one particular scene, he lost his voice. "There was a particularly intense scene which had to be laughing continuously throughout and I dubbed so intensely that I lost my voice. I couldn't dub for anything else that day and for the next couple of days. My sound recordist advised me to sip haldi, honey and milk for the two days till my voice became normal again. Though I play a mute, we don't have too much of sign language in GR. It's mostly body language which even the audiences will understand."
Tusshar plays Kareena Kapoor's brother, Lucky in Golmaal Returns. His ultimate goal is to see that his sister's marriage remains intact.

Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision Ltd's upcoming release GOLMAAL RETURNS is running circles around everyone! Doing away with convention, this roller coaster ride, which is being eagerly awaited by audiences, has everything associated with it true to theme!!!
Director Rohit Shetty, keeping in mind his fun title, had the clapboards designed to be circular in shape as opposed to the conventional rectangular boards!!!! Says the director, "There was nothing planned or deliberate about round clapboard! We just used to have a rocking time and the entire subject dealt with nothing but fun so the idea of having a round clapboard, when it was suggested by my assistant, appealed to me which is why we went ahead with it!"
Well, with everyone on the sets having a whale of a time, GOLMAAL RETURNS is surely going to make this Diwali even more festive and fun!
The film starring Ajay Devgan, Kareena Kapoor, Arshad Warsi, Amrita Arora, Shreyas Talpade, Celina Jaitley, Tusshar Kapoor and Anjana Sukhani is slated to release during Diwali.
Actor Ajay Devgan, who was a chain smoker once, quit smoking some time ago. He kicked the 'butt' and wouldn't touch a cigarette. Impressive, huh? But when we met him last, he conveniently asked for a light. Whatever happened to the 'I'll never smoke again!', we wondered.
Devgan blames his re-addiction on 'withdrawal symptoms'. "I used to smoke quite a bit. My mistake was that I gave up smoking completely. Then there were the withdrawal symptoms, I was in a very bad state, and I started smoking all over again. But the wish to become a non-smoker is still alive, only this time, I'll try to do it gradually!" he assures us.
Currently shooting in London for Vipul Shah's London Dreams with Salman Khan, the actor will be seen in Golmaal Returns , that releases in Diwali and then in Kumar Mangat's Toonpur Ka Superhero .
Times are a changing, and so is Bollywood. It’s new to hear about a promotional song with a huge six crore budget. Yes, we are talking of the much spoken of song of Golmaal Returns that has created history.
Though the song is shot at Filmcity, the Goan ambience of the sets has added to the cost of for and a half crore. Apart from that, the song took 10 long days to reach perfection. The song has a youthful, vibrant feel with action, bikes, blasts and gun shots. If the buzz is to be believed, the tune of the song is ‘inspired’ by a Spanish number with the lyrics of Sameer.
Precisely, the number has absorbed a lot of sweat of the cast and crew for the making. The movie release is slated for 31st of October 2008. To know more, watch the video.
The Ajay Devgan, Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Sharman Joshi-starrer Golmaal must have been a bigger hit than we thought. Apparently, the producers are richer by several bucks and ready to take risks. The much-awaited sequel features a song worth Rs 6 crore! An entire small-budget film can be made on that amount but, believe it or not, that’s what the song is worth. Now, you and I may not be able to gauge what it is the producers of Golmaal Returns have spent so lavishly on. But, the actors and director have an explanation. When we caught an exclusive glimpse of the said number, we kind of agreed with them too. At the outset, the entire cast — Ajay Devgan, Kareena Kapoor, Arshad Warsi, Amrita Arora, Tusshar Kapoor, Anjana Sukhani, Shreyas Talpade and Celina Jaitley — are part of the song. Secondly, the actors’ wardrobe is based on the leather-clad cowboy look, which must’ve cost a bundle. Then, there are about 200 imported dancers in the background, bombs blowing, cars going up in flames, the works. A huge set that resembles a small Texan town completes the frame. “The set alone cost Rs 4.50 crore,” says Arshad. Watch Bebo, Ajay, Tusshar and director Rohit Shetty share their own observations.

Director Rohit Shetty can't help but laugh whenever he remembers his experience of shooting a hilarious sequence in GOLMAAL RETURNS. Apparently, this sequence which has Ajay Devgan and Celina Jaitley dancing with each other was supposed to be shot as a song but was later picturised with only background music.
Confirms Rohit Shetty, "In the script, there was the requirement of this song where Celina and Ajay get into a seducing rendezvous. However, by the time we began shooting for the film, we realized that kids and family audience were looking at me to churn out an out family masala entertainer, just like GOLMAAL. I realized that for the audience I was catering too, I should not get into typical massy affair."
This is when the decision to throw out the song was arrived at, right?
"True", says Rohit promptly, "I pronto decided to leave the song and instead have a fun sequence in the film. Now what you see is a hilarious outing between Ajay and Celina on a boat. I can't help but laugh every time I see this sequence. Ajay (Devgan) had done some really funny dance steps in the song and the final result has been even more lovable than I could have bargained for."
How exactly?
"Well, the song sees Celina lifting Ajay and having him swirl around all over in the air as dolphins keep jumping from one side of the boat to another. It is mad and an out and out spoof sequence", signs off Rohit.
