For someone who has close to 20 released films to her credit in last 5 years, Konkona Sen Sharma is doing quite good for herself. More so because ever since her debut effort way back in 2002, Mr And Mrs Iyer, she has seen more bouquets coming her way and hardly any brickbats. Ok, so an occasional Dil Kabaddi doesn't quite do much justice to her acting talent but the fact remains that when it comes to performance, Konkona is the one that many a film maker are vouching for today.
While Wake Up Sid did get her the kind of critical and commercial acclaim that is always expected from her, the beginning of 2009 had a fantastic Luck By Chance as well. Both were relatively serious films though. Now with Atithi Tum Kab Jaaoge? up for release, can one comfortably believe that this is one film which would allow her to have some fun as well.
"Why are you forgetting The President Is Coming", she smiles, "I guess it has been THE most, light hearted comedy that I have ever done. It was totally an out and out comedy and it's unfortunate that it didn't get the kind of visibility that it truly deserved."
"It was such an awesome film but then I guess because of the kind of system that we work in, not many people knew about it. Also, the names involved were not that huge due to which The President Is Coming got sidelined. Sad but true", she sighs.
She cheers up though once the conversation steers towards Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge? and her co-star in the film, Ajay Devgn.
"If you ask me, he is exactly like many other actors that I have worked with, most recently being Ranbir", she says fondly, "Ajay is someone with whom you can easily strike a conversation and get chatting. He is a happy and easy going person rather than being dark and moody. I still won't say that I know him very well but whatever I have seen of him, he is really quite friendly."
With the kind of 'respected' success that she has enjoyed over the years, especially with a true money spinner like Wake Up Sid not too far back, what does she feel about the direction that her career is taking? After all she seems to be seated quite comfortably in the big league with the likes of Karan Johar and Farhan Akhtar rooting for her after Yash Raj Films (Laaga Chunari Mein Daag, Aaja Nachle).
"Honestly speaking, all the films that have happened to me so far are incidental. I don't really plan and think much about the films I am doing or would be doing", says Konkona, "I can't really be making a decision that if I do something like this, my career would be driven in a particular direction. Yes, I have to admit though is that currently I am quite content with my career and have no complaints whatsoever."

However, one hears that with each passing year, he has learnt to appreciate his wife’s dedication to the institution of marriage. And he gives Kajol full marks for making their marriage so succesful. Chalo here’s one couple who can’t have enough of each other despite the years.
Priyadarshan has roped in Ajay Devgn and Bipasha Basu in his next venture titled Ram Leela. The director who has made his mark both down south and in b-town has decided to use folk-music for this film.
Irshad Kamil has penned down the lyrics for this film to the music composed by Pritam Chakraborty. Singer Ajay Jhingran of Billu, Hazaron Khwahishen Aisi and Page 3 fame is extremely thrilled about the project.
“I’m super-excited about the music of this film. So far, two songs have been recorded. One of the songs has a typical folkish music which goes like ‘Aao Suno Suno Ram Katha’. The song has pure Hindi lyrics which makes it a very refreshing,” narrates the excited singer.
Priyadarshan’s Ram Leela is a modern take on the original concept. It would be interesting to see how he blends folk music in the contemporary outlook.

With his flight held up at Chennai because of a passenger-airline dispute, Ajay Devgan almost missed his marriage anniversary
They are one of the film industry's poster couples. And it's no surprise how seriously Ajay Devgan and Kajol take their wedding anniversary, making sure that come hell or high water, they spend this special day together - and they've done just that in the entire decade of their togetherness.
Ajay had planned to return to Mumbai yesterday afternoon to be with wife Kajol as it was their 11th marriage anniversary. But little was Ajay prepared for the harrowing time he had in reaching Mumbai, at one point almost on the verge of giving up in frustration.
Our source says, “Ajay, Priyadarshan, Kumar Mangat and the crew members of the Garam Hawa took the 1.40 pm flight to Mumbai from Madurai. The flight was supposed to reach Mumbai via Chennai at 3 pm but things started going wrong soon after. There was a snag in the aircraft's air conditioning which led to a heated exchange between some passengers and the airline authorities.
The flight landed at Chennai and the flight was held up for hours in settling the dispute. It seemed that the flight may be delayed indefinitely and Ajay got very worried at the prospect of not being able to reach home. The day had already been wasted and every minute's delay was weighing down on him. Normally, on his anniversary, Ajay makes it a point to have a family get together. He finally reached home at 8 pm. But he was glad to have been able to spend at least a quiet dinner at home instead of being stuck alone in Chennai.”
Kumar Mangat, business manager to Ajay Devgan and the producer of Garam Hawa who was also on the flight said, “It was a nightmarish experience for us. There was some dispute over the AC and we were to reach Mumbai in the afternoon but reached in the evening. We have shifted the location to Mumbai as Ajay wanted to promote his upcoming film and spend the day with his family as it was his anniversary like he always does but that didn't happen and he reached home late in the evening.”
When contacted, K Swaminathan, the spokesperson of the airline said, “There was some dispute over the airconditioning with one passenger as it had developed a bit of a problem. The flight was stranded due to that.”

Veteran actor Paresh Rawal suffered from an acute attack of vertigo during the shooting of his forthcoming film.
The actor, sources present at the sets confirmed, could have been grievously injured when he had the vertigo attack. It was co-star Ajay Devgn who caught Paresh by his hand and prevented the actor from falling down at least two floors (roughly 30 feet).
“The shooting was being held on a giant revolving set. None of the crew members were aware that Paresh had a previous history of vertigo. Reality struck when one of the crewmembers found Paresh tottering as the set started revolving during the shot. Then we suddenly found Ajay holding on to him and preventing him from falling down.”
Unit sources say that the song required “a constant movement” by the actors on a revolving set which resembled the interiors of a house.
Says our source from the sets, “Pareshbhai suffers from vertigo and the moment he saw the set, he was so petrified that heimmediately went up to director Ashwni Dhir and told him that he was veryuncomfortable with the whole scene and that he wouldn’t be able to do the shoot.”
Apparently Paresh is petrified of large moving objects and has never even sat on a giant wheel in his life. However, he later agreed to do the scene after much cajoling by co-star Ajay. But after completing one shot, Paresh started feeling dizzy and justcouldn’t do the scene anymore.
When asked about this incident, Paresh said, “The whole experience of getting into the revolving set was horrifying for me. I felt really sick. Ajay has being performing action sequences his whole life so it was relatively easy for him. I heard Konkona too tried the same and hats off to her for completing it.”
