U, Me Aur Hum comes in ahead of Race at 3 this week. The film has met with mixed reviews and most people are unhappy that it is such a blatant copy of 50 First Dates and The Notebook. I guess what people are livid about is the fact that before it’s release, the cast and crew were calling it a 100% original idea, and even went as far as to say that Ajay Devgan had worked on the script for 3 years! That being said, everyone seems to agree that the film has outstanding performances by its lead stars, so maybe it’s not all bad?! See what you make of it as it’s music gets airtime on our show!
Schaut, was Ihr daraus macht, solange Ihr die Filmmusik in unserer Show hört.
Kajol has taken the death of her father very badly. And hubby Ajay Devgan is doing his best to be beside his wife in this trying time.
In fact, just when their film U, Me Aur Hum saw light of day, Kads’ father Shomu Mukherjee passed away. “The movie has fared well, but our family is going through a sad moment,” Ajay is heard to have said. The couple who has got some good reviews for their performance, hasn’t had the time or the spirit to celebrate the success of their film, and is just providing strength to the other to get over this unfortunate incident.
Looks like Ajay is trying hard to live up to the concept of U, Me Aur Hum in real life, too.
Mumbai: After the release of Sarkar Raj, Ram Gopal Varma is contemplating on making a remake of Sholay.
“I think I will make Ram Gopal Varma Ki Sholay again. Just when they think that may be I have learnt a lesson or something, I will come back again,” says filmmaker, Ram Gopal Varma.
Although, Varma made the announcement with a mischievous smile, he wasn't joking.
“I think I have that bad habit. I made Raat and it was a flop and then I made Bhoot which also flopped. And then I made Satya which did not flop. I will follow the same technique,” says Varma.
He remade the cult classic Sholay into the biggest flops of the decade. Although it generated big hype, huge publicity and the result was that everyone hated the film, from critics to the audience.
However, Varma says he has learnt his lesson and now he knows where and why he went wrong.
“As long as you are willing to accept you made a mistake, you can still do something and improve,” says Varma.
Meanwhile, we know that it is a bit late to crack an April fools joke, however, we hope Varma is doing just that.
I Choose the script when I am offered a film, not Ajay, Aamir or SRK - Kajol - April 22
'U, Me Aur Hum' may not have got a great opening like Shah Rukh Khan's Om Shanti Om, but Kajol is happy that she was a part of the project.
When I meet her at her actor-director husband Ajay Devgan's office in Juhu, Kajol confesses that it was not very tough to play the role. Kajol adds that she was confident that people would be able to identify with the role, when Ajay narrated the role to her. Here is a chat with the actor.
"I had a superb director to back me. I should undoubtedly give the entire credit to my director for the ease with which the character of Piya has unfolded on the screen in 'U, Me Aur Hum'. The best thing that I liked about my character in the film was that besides the fact that she was normal and not handicapped in any way, Piya had a wicked sense of humor and at the same time, she was a little vulnerable too."
Kajol kick started her career with the film 'Bekhudi', more than a decade ago, with Kamal Sadanah as her leading man. Kajol is practical enough to confess that her role in 'U, Me Aur Hum' is not the best in her career till date. "Every role that I have done has been the best at that particular point of time in my career. Since my latest release is 'U, Me Aur Hum', I feel that it is my best as of now." Kajol quips.
She admits that she is far too picky as an actor. "I am lucky that I have been approached by various kinds of directors, in spite of the fact that I am very choosy. The problem is that my expectations as an actor are quite high and I am not getting the kind of roles that I want to do and I am not interested in doing the kinds of roles that I am offered", she avers.
What is interesting about Kajol is that she is capable of throwing surprises not only as an actor who gets into the skin of various characters but also as a person who can shock you out of your wits with statements you do not expect at all. "I want to do films that I want to watch. I watch very few films for my entertainment. As far as I am concerned, happy and positive films make me laugh. I am not against other kinds of films, though I may not be tempted to be a part of it. For instance, if tomorrow Mira Nair offers me a comedy film, I'd gladly grab it, without a second thought."
She disagrees when you tell her that married actors are not accepted by the audience when they set out to stage their comebacks in films. "For your information, I acted with Ajay in films like 'Raju Chacha', 'Dil Kya Kare' etc only after I was married to him. Didn't 'Fanaa click'? I had acted in it after my baby Nysa was born. Didn't I? I think that if you choose the right role, you can click, especially if you are a married actor, that too with a baby. If I had made my come back with a film in which I played a college girl with a short skirt, I am sure I would not have succeeded. You should know to choose the right role."
Kajol confesses that she has mellowed a lot and is not the fire-brand rebel that she once was. "I think motherhood changes you in many ways. Motherhood removes the chasma which is experience and you start looking at people in a different way and also judge them in a different way. Your perceptions about people too changes. The way Nysa looked at people changed my pre-conceived notions too."
She adds, "Today, thanks to my growth as an actor, I feel that I can adapt my technique. I did not know what technique was earlier. I have, over the years, actually learnt a method to acting, and use it honestly with a lot more expertise and finesse."
Kajol says that then only film which she has signed is 'Toonpur Ka Super Hero'. She adds in the same breath, even before you can ask, that she has not signed any film with Karan or for that matter with Shah Rukh Khan. "Ajay has got nothing to with me doing or not doing a film with Karan or for that matter Shah Rukh Khan. I choose the script every time I am offered a film, not Ajay Devgan, Aamir Khan or for that matter Shah Rukh Khan. Ajay is proud that I choose to do films which I believe in."
She continues. "I have not heard Karan's script. It would not do him and his project justice, if I tell him that I'd do his film without listening to the script, though as a friend, he trusts me enough to let me make a decision and vice versa. Our friendship is so strong that it will stand the test of time, whether we do a film together or not."
Kajol is happy that she agreed to be a part of the TV show 'Rock N Roll Family' with her mother Tanuja and her husband Ajay. "We were offered a lot of reality shows earlier but we kept on declining each of them, although we appeared in one episode of 'Little Champs'. We agreed to be in 'Rock N Roll Family' because of the concept. It is about the family and the principles that we believe in."
Though it was a life long dream of Ajay to wield the megaphone, Kajol says that she does not plan to take up direction. "I'd say that as of now I am not inclined to take up direction, though I do not know what is in store. Unlike Ajay, whose strength as a director is his clarity, I am a selfish actor. Mujhe sirf apne kaam se mutlab hain. I am in fact surprised that Ajay and I never had any disagreement throughout the shooting of the film. I have had some point of disagreement with almost every director with whom I have worked till date. In fact, I'd say that the director Ajay Devgan exceeded my expectations when I worked with him."
"I hope that I have affected Ajay a lot. I have taught him a lot and vice versa. I believe that any marriage works only if there is a lot of give and take between the couple. In fact I agree one hundred per cent with the message that 'U, Me Aur Hum' sets out to drive home. That man makes a problem bigger though it is never bigger than a man. We make the solution impossible, because we do not make an attempt to solve a problem, since we concentrate more on the problem than the solution," she concludes.
´UMH´ : Ajay-Kajol Hold Special Show For ´Little Sisters Of The Poor´! - April 23
The husband wife team of Ajay Devgan and Kajol organised a special Screening of their 'U, Me Aur Hum' at PVR Juhu for 'Little Sisters of The Poor', an old age home in Andheri East.
Kajol met and interacted with the members of the old age home after the screening and they absolutely loved the film and found it extremely touching and heart wrenching.
Ajay Devgan who is happy with the fact that his efforts got paid off and his debut venture 'U, Me aur Hum' has become a good success is not celebrating. Instead, he has been taking the side of his wife Kajol who is still not able to come over the grief of her father. Apparently, Shomu Mukherjee passed away on the release of the film and since then Kajol has not been able to come to terms with it. Ajay from his end is doing whatever he can to give her strength and support.
After the encouraging response to his directorial debut in U Me Aur Hum, Ajay Devgan is thinking of directing an actioner next. Life comes a full circle for Ajay since he started his career with an actioner Phool Aur Kaante 15 years ago.
This Diwali get ready for the war of the wows. While Subhash Ghai is readying Yuvraaj his most ambitious and unique project yet which goes into the never-before territory of western classical music, Yashraj Films steps into the animation kingdom in style with Roadside Romeo. "Yashraj Films has gone to the dogs," jokes a young filmmaker about the illustrious doggie's love story with Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor doing the canine chords.
While two of the top-most banners in the country are going for an entirely new approach to filmmaking, Ajay Devgan who has lately turned director is getting ready with an all-out formula fare for Diwali.
And the competition doesn't bother him. It never has. "I've always worked at my own pace. That's going to change now. After U Me Aur Hum, I can't afford to be lazy. At the same time, I've never bothered with what others do. Why should that change?"
Ajay isn't willing to give up his comic connections. "Golmaal Returns is much funnier than the first film. And far glossier," says Ajay, who's currently in Goa shooting the last schedule of his funny film. "After this we've just one song left and then we're done," says Ajay, who gets together with Kareena Kapoor for the second time after Omkara , and what a difference! "You can say that again! But then you can't be doing only serious cinema all the time. Audiences like watching light films. So I'll continue being part of them."
As a director, however, Ajay has slightly different plans. "I've two subjects ready, and I may decide to do either one, depending on what I feel right. After a very serious subject, I may decide to do a lighter film. In fact I'm seriously thinking of doing an actioner. If I do, it'd be very different from the stunts that we see in other films. But there will definitely be an undercurrent of seriousness; a social message will run through the film for sure."
Jyothi Venkatesh catches Rakesh Roshan in a chat. - April 26
Auszug:
... Your film clashing with Ajay Devgan’s film ... It is Ajay Devgan’s film U Me Hum which is clashing with Krazzy 4. Jokes apart, I feel that since today we have multiplexes which have as many as six screens, there is no fear of any film clashing with another. My film alone cannot run in all the six screens. It’d have made a difference if single screens had continued to dominate the scene today. In any case, both our films belong to different genres.
After U Me aur Hum, he plans to direct an action film
After his directorial debut, U Me aur Hum, Ajay Devgan plans to call the shots for an action flick. Life will then come a full circle for Ajay since he started his career with Phool Aur Kaante, an action film, 17 years ago.
Says Ajay, “I’m seriously thinking of doing an actioner, it would be very different from the stunts that we see in other films. But there will definitely be an undercurrent of seriousness a social message will run through the film for sure.”
Two subjects
The actor-turned-director says, “In fact I’ve two subjects already ready. I may decide to do either one depending on what feels right. There is also a lighter film I have in mind.”
On the acting front, Ajay Devgan is getting ready with an all-out formula fare for Diwali Golmaal Returns. He isn’t willing to give up his comic connections, “Golmaal Returns is much funnier than the first film and far glossier,” points out Ajay who’s currently in Goa for the last schedule of the comic caper.
“After this schedule we have just one song left and then we’re done,” says Ajay who gets together with Kareena Kapoor for the second time after Omkara and in a completely distinct role. “You can’t be doing only serious cinema all the time. Audiences like watching light films. So I’ll continue being part of them.”
B-Town competition doesn’t bother him — it never has. “I’ve always worked at my own pace. That’s going to change now. After U Me Aur Hum I can’t afford to be lazy. At the same time I’ve never bothered with what others do. Why should that change?” he asks.
For folks who had seen the recent movie 'U, Me Aur Hum' might have got this doubt and for others, here is the question. Kajol is the cruise staff who works on ship, Ajay Devgan happens to be a passenger who falls for her and woos her, after which she falls in love and dances with him on the deck before a lot of passengers. This is all good on screen but people are aware that female staff members of hotels, airlines or ships will not be allowed to mix freely with guests. But Kajol proved it wrong, isn't it Mr. Director Devgan???
The Kajol-Ajay Devgan starrer U Me Aur Hum has made a place in the hearts of the youth as well as senior citizens. A special screening of the love story was held at a theatre in Mumbai by the Devgans, and Kajol came down to watch it with the elderly people present. After the show, Kajol met and talked with guests and got feedback for the film
It’s been just two weeks since the reel love story released and, according to sources, the film has already made over Rs 40 crore. Kajol has also engaged herself in another project with hubby Ajay. However, Toonpur Ka Superhero is an animation film and Kajol may not get to show off her chemistry with hubby Ajay. Let’s hope we see more of them together.
... Q: You were one of the first actors to bring in a spirit of entrepreneurship to the industry? A: Oh, absolutely. I think we need to learn a lesson from our senior actors who did so well for themselves and then died in poverty. It's a very fickle industry. All it takes is a Friday and you're forgotten. You've to secure your future. Don't make movies the be-all and end-all of your life. That's why I did what I had to do with my finances. I'm a very strong individual. And I value my self-respect. Even if I had five flops no one can claim to have signed me as a favour. I never had godfathers. But I've terrific friends like Ajay Devgan, Sanjay Dutt, Salman (Khan), Govinda and Shah Rukh Khan who've constantly supported me.
Ajay Devgan ’s directorial debut U Me Aur Hum may not have been a blockbuster, but the actor is going to continue directing the stories he believes in.
The dusky actor-turned-director has already got two subjects in his mind. One of them is reportedly an action flick. The other is a light-hearted movie. There is a strong chance that Ajay might do the action movie first.
However, the flick won’t be a no-brainer like his last action flick Cash that was directed by Anubhav Sinha . Devgan says his film will have a social message at its core.
It may be recalled that Ajay began his acting career as an action hero in the film ‘Phool Aur Kaante’.
Ajay says direction is a natural progression for him as he has been associated with different aspects of filmmaking for last many years.
As of now, it is comedy that occupies the actor’s mind as he shoots for the final schedule of Rohit Shetty’s comedy Golmaal Returns in Goa.
... There are millions of blogs on the internet, and thousands more are added every day. As can be expected, just a handful of blogs eventually succeed, and those that do are usually written by people with a lot of passion, something that Amitabh has. More so than Aamir Khan, and certainly more so than Ajay Devgan, two other A-list actors who have dabbled with blogging.
Unlike Aamir and Ajay, Amitabh has not created his blog to promote his films. He is blogging from his heart.
Make sure you have tissues handy before you see "U, Me Aur Hum (You, Me and Us)" — and be sure to tell the love of your life how much you appreciate and cherish them.
The film is one of the most sensitive and enjoyable movies made by actress Kajol and her husband, actor and director Ajay Devgan.
Kajol took a break from acting a few years ago to get married and have a child — and now the Bollywood actress is back in full swing.
Devgan has matured into a fine actor. His movies have done well at the box office and his choices have contributed to his success. His 2006 film "Omkara," based on Shakespeare's "Othello," made him into the biggest star in Bollywood — and gave him international acclaim.
Inspired by the 2004 film "The Notebook," the premise of "U, Me Aur Hum" is simple: Ajay (Devgan) and Pia (Kajol) meet, fall in love — and then are faced with a tragic situation that tests their relationship.
Devgan's directorial debut is full of drama, featuring strong dialogue, exotic locations, catchy songs and dance numbers.
As one would expect, there is a lot of on-screen chemistry. But that has always been the case. Even before they were married, the two were paired in many romantic movies — which many people say led to their real-life romance.
"U Me Aur Hum" is nonrated (there is nothing offensive) and is playing at Regal Commerce Center 18 in North Brunswick.
