While Katrina Kaif has been saying that she has refused Rohit Shetty's next produced by Ajay Devgan, a source in Ajay's production house told us, "Ajay and Rohit were very keen to work with Kareena but she had to say no as she was tied up with Raju Hirani's 3 Idiots and Main Aur Mrs Khanna.
Katrina was then in the running along with Priyanka Chopra and Vidya Balan and nobody has been finalised as yet. Wonder why Katrina's talking about doing the film and then walking out!" Can she give us some answers? ...
Recently a famous Mumbai tabloid had broke out the news that Katrina Kaif had agreed to be part of director Rohit Shetty's next film to be produced by Shetty's good friend and actor Ajay Devgan. Given the fact that Shetty has directed comedies like Golmaal, Sunday and Golmaal Returns, it was a forgone conclusion that his film for Devgan's production house would also be a comedy.
Apparently, Devgan thought of roping in Katrina after he and Salman Khan bonded like thick buddies on the sets of London Dreams. Unit-members had revealed that the stars who had earlier done a film like Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam but unfortunately had not many scenes together, but on the sets of London Dreams, the two actors developed a great rapport. It was during this time that Ajay Devgan expressed his wish to Salman Khan to cast Katrina in his next home production.
Director Rohit Shetty's last venture Golmaal Returns was a big hit and Katrina has been a hit in comedy ventures with Akshay Kumar. So it was the apt choice. But now Katrina has had to let go of the film.
Reasons cited were her busy schedule. According to Katrina's spokesperson, due to lack of dates and her tight schedule, unfortunately, she won't be part of the project. Her spokesperson clarifies, "It is unfortunate but Katrina will not be able to do the project, she's tied up with her other commitments and dates were a big hassle. Hence she will not be doing Rohit Shetty's film".
Mumbai, February 02: The world's sexiest woman (2008) has decided to shed her glamourous image for her role in critically acclaimed filmmaker Prakash Jha's Rajniti. The change of image is not restricted to her wardrobe alone;
Katrina will also be required to speak in a certain dialect, for which she is undergoing voice modulation classes.
Katrina Kaif said, "My role in Rajniti has different shades - I start off as a particular way and end up as a completely changed persona. The character is immensely challenging and it is a huge responsibility to carry off such a character. I am very excited to work with Prakash Jha, who is known for his kind of cinema and believes in involving himself in every department of his films. In a couple of days, I will be shooting for the film in Bhopal where I have scenes with a crowd of around 500 and I am gearing up for it."
Filmmaker Jha is helping Katrina to slip into her role by guiding her. Katrina revealed, "Prakash Jha is so involved in my characterisation that he is choosing the fabrics for the clothes for my character. He is so clued in that he knows exactly what he wants for an actor and that makes the transition of my character all the more challenging."
Ask Katrina if she is undergoing voice modulation for her character as the buzz is that she will be seen in a completely deglam look in the second part of the film and she says, "I can't reveal anything about the transition of my character but yes I am also doing the voice modulation as I need to speak in a certain way toward the end of the film." So committed is Katrina in putting her heart and soul into her role in Rajniti that she was unable to do Rohit Shetty's next film with Ajay Devgan and Sanjay Dutt. Katrina said, "It is unfortunate that I had to opt out of that film as I had date problems."
Mumbai: You had your eyes wide open when you saw Denise Richards romancing our Bollywood action hero Akshay Kumar in Kambakht Ishq; you had your jaw drop when you saw Sylvester Stallone having a laugh with our size zero girl Kareena Kapoor on the sets of the same film. Just a few days ago Bollywood Hungama also broke the news that producer director Vidhu Vinod Chopra has signed in Hollywood actor Mickey Rourke for his next big project. It's the West meets the East season. But wait...there's something more which is going to get you blackjacked!
Leena Yadav Bajaj's film Teen Patti, rings a bell? The high-stake gambling film with a cause which is headed by Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgan, R Madhavan, Raima Sen and many others is due to release this year. The film is said to have been inspired from a true story of MIT students who mastered the art of card counting and took Las Vegas casinos for millions in winnings. In fact, Hollywood made its own version of the film last year, the Kevin Spacey starrer 21. Now seeing our Bollywood directors getting inspired by the western neighbours is one thing, but seeing these big Hollywood stars getting inspired by our Bollywood cinema is another. And to join the ongoing list of biggies is an Irish born Hollywood actor who swept the entire world by his suave acting skills. Following a stage acting career he rose to popularity in the television series Remington Steele after which there was no looking back and what followed were blockbuster films like Mrs. Doubtfire, Golden Eye, Die Another Day, Tomorrow Never Dies, Laws of Attraction, The Thomas Crown Affair, The Tailor of Panama and Mama Mia to name a few. He had the biggest and the maddest female following in the U.K during his 'Bond' days and of course, he was popularly known around the world as 'Bond...James Bond'. Ladies and gentlemen...the newest name to join the elite list of Hollywood actors in a Bollywood film is Pierce Brosnan in Teen Patti.
We've known from our sources that Mr. Brosnan's scenes were entirely shot in Oxford, U.K. and the film kick starts with him in a sitting cameo. Whether or not he will be sharing screen space with Big B or Ajay Devgan will only come to light when the film releases. That's not all. We've also come to know that Jon Harris who edited Guy Ritchie film Snatch has also been roped in to edit Teen Patti. Looks like it's all going to be a clean cut for director Leena Yadav Bajaj who is all set to win hands down by roping in Pierce Brosnan and Jon Harris. The question remains - Are they worth the gamble?
We heard it through the grapevine that the Hinduja Brothers have also got a big stake in Teen Patti. So is it their U.K connection which worked to get Brosnan and Harris? Well, it just might be. Source : IANS
After an up-and-down year in 2008, Tanushree Dutta will be hoping that 2009 will be the year that she finally breaks through to the big time. First up is Ramaa the Saviour with Sahil Khan and Dalip Singh. “I play the unconventional role of a strong girl called Sameera in this film,” she explains, “When I heard the script, I realized that I would be in my comfort zone when I do the role!” In the movie, which is aimed at children, Tanushree plays a Lara Croft-type role.
Next along is Mr Fraud with Ajay Devgan and Bipasha Basu in a double role, which will keep all of Bips’ fans happy. Finally, there’s Do Lucky with Govinda, Celina Jaitley and Ameesha Patel. Tanushree is pleased at the way her career has been developing. “The films that I have done till now have all helped me grow as an actress and prove that I am quite versatile because I have not played safe by resorting to being typecast as an actress,” she says.
Although the film itself disappointed, Tanushree’s performance in Saas Bahu Aur Sensex last year was well received and the former Miss India has also appeared in such notable films in the past as 36 China Town with Shahid Kapur and Kareena Kapoor and Raqeeb with Rahul Khanna and Sherlyn Chopra.
Nyasa inspired Kajol and Ajay to do their first animation film February 3rd, 2009
Apart from the appropriate choice for characters in Toon Pur Ka Super Hero its lead actors Ajay and Kajol had some valid reasons to accept the film which is going to be India’s first live action animation film.
When asked what made them to sign this film Ajay informs the script and concept of animation with live characters is unique. He says “It’s not just for children but for everyone. It has lots of fun and entertainment value.”
But his wife Kajol gives credit to daughter Nyasa. She says, “After Nyasa’s birth I started watching cartoon network. Nyasa and I are very fond of cartoon Disney. Both of us love watching Hungamaa and lots of fun and cartoon channels.”
Needless to say mother daughter shares the same interest and Nyasa is the real inspiration to do an Animation film. When asked How excited Nyasa is to see her parents in the film? Ajay replied, “She is excited but she is small to understand this.”
It can be recalled that recently Anurag Kashyap made an animation film called Hanuman returns. He too informs that the reason behind making an animation film was his daughter. Not just that lyricist Prasson Joshi too was inspired by his two year old daughter. He informs that to write lyrics for Taare Zameen Par. It seems daughters are real source of inspiration for our celebs. -Sampurn Media
Her fifth film (and second pairing) with Ajay Devgan in Rohit Shetty's untitled next. After much speculation over the main lead from Katrina Kaif to Priyanka Chopra and Vidya Balan opposite Ajay Devgan in Rohit Shetty's untitled next, they've finally signed on Bipasha Basu.
The film will be produced by Ajay's banner Devgan Entertainment Limited. This will be Devgan and Bips' fifth film together (see box). Bipasha was also the heroine for Rohit's debut film Zameen which starred Ajay Devgan and Abhishek Bachchan.
Bipasha admits, "Yes. I am doing Rohit's film. I am very excited about the script and am looking forward to working with Ajay again. We have worked together in serious films. It will be interesting to do a comedy with him. When Rohit came to me with the script, I instantly said yes. It's reminded me of No Entry."
The film also stars Sanjay Dutt, Fardeen Khan and one more heroine, who is yet to be signed on. The film is based on the Hindi play Uncle Samjha Karo which was staged five years ago in Mumbai and deals with mistaken identities and hilarious goof-ups.
Paritosh Painter and Balwinder Singh Suri who penned and directed the play are on board with Devgan's team of writers, which include Robin Bhatt, Yunus Sajawat and Farhad Sajid for the film's story-screenplay. he film is slated to roll in March and will be shot mostly in Goa a location that Rohit considers lucky as he filmed his Golmaal films there.

PATNA: From the dusty bylanes of the Hindi heartland to the air-conditioned chamber of the Election Commission, from booth capturing to the countermanding of elections all these ingredients of drama will feature in filmmaker Prakash Jha's political satire Rajneeti.
Jha has just begun shooting for the multi-starrer film in Bhopal, which will showcase ironies of the contemporary political system in the Hindi heartland besides dealing with his personal electoral experiences.
Naseeruddin Shah, Ajay Devgan, Nana Patekar, Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Arjun Rampal, Vivek Oberoi and Manoj Bajpai will be seen in different roles in this political drama. Bajpai, a native of West Champaran district, figures for the first time in a Jha film. "Naseer plays a powerful Leftist leader," said Jha.
Jha has selected 20 places in Bhopal to shoot the film. The main set is being erected in Kotara and Sultanabad localities.
Talking to TOI from Bhopal, Jha said, "The movie will capture the present day political system and ironies prevailing in the contemporary democratic set-up."
Incidentally, Jha unsuccessfully contested the last Lok Sabha elections from Bettiah in Bihar in 2004 as an Independent candidate. And this time too he is in fray. Therefore, there will be a break in the shooting in March. He has already started campaigning in Bettiah. Last month he was in Bettiah busy addressing a series of meetings.
LJP chief and Union minister Ram Vilas Paswan has informally announced Jha's name for the Bettiah seat. The announcement assumes significance as Jha was once considered very close to Bihar CM Nitish Kumar. In the 2005 assembly elections, Jha even shared dais with Nitish during electioneering. However, the filmmaker has kept his options open -- whether to contest on a party ticket or as an Independent.
Jha has to his credit box office hits like Hip Hip Hurray, Damul, Mrityudand, Gangaajal and Apaharan, depicting social evils in Bihar. His trilogy of films Damul, Mrityudand and Gangaajal was his method of social interaction with people of Bihar.
After Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger sharing screen space with Akshay Kumar in Kambakht Ishq, it is now former James Bond, Pierce Brosnan's turn to share screen space with Amitabh Bachchan in Teen Patti.
"The casting of Mr.Brosnan is not yet confirmed as we are still in talks with him. The film's shooting is almost done and if he says yes then the shooting will take place in the UK and he will be doing a special cameo at the start of the movie. Amitabh Bachchan has finished shooting for his role," says a source close to Ambika Hinduja, the film's producer.
He further adds, "So far the film has shaped up very nicely and we are hoping for the best as this film was stalled for a year because of many reasons the first being the unavailability of Big B's dates, then changes in the cast and Big B's illness. Thankfully, the film has been shot now and we are looking at a year end release."
When contacted, Ambika Hinduja said, "I don't want to comment on this."
Teen Patti is rumoured to be inspired by Kevin Spacey starrer '21' which was released in India in 2008. The whole plot is the same and the only difference is that '21' was shot in Las Vegas while Teen Patti has been shot in Mumbai and the prestigious Flame College in Pune. Big B steps into Kevin Spacey's shoes as a professor who teaches his students the art of gambling. The makers of the film are denying any resemblance to 21.
Amitabh Bachchan heads the cast comprising R Madhavan, Raima Sen, Shakti Kapoor's daughter Shraddha, Jackie Shroff and Mahesh Manjrekar and a few debutantes. There are several cameos in the film including Ajay Devgan, US model Saira Mohan, Danny Denzongpa, and Sushmita Sen.

Recently, a Mumbai tabloid let out the news that Katrina Kaif had agreed to be part of director Rohit Shetty’s next film to be produced by Ajay Devgan. Given the fact that Shetty has directed comedies like ‘Golmaal,’ ‘Sunday’ and ‘Golmaal Returns,’ it was a foregone conclusion that his film for Devgan’s production house would also be a comedy. Apparently, Devgan thought of roping in good friend Salman Khan's beau Katrina after he and Salman bonded well on the sets of ‘London Dreams.’ But now, Katrina has turned down Salman’s request to star in the film. The reason cited was her busy schedule. According to Katrina’s spokesperson, due to lack of dates and her tight schedule, she won’t be part of the project. Her spokesperson clarifies: “It is unfortunate but Katrina will not be able to do the project. She’s tied up with other commitments and dates were a big hassle. Hence she will not be doing Rohit Shetty’s film.” Hmm...wonder if all's well with the Salman-Kat jodi.
Ajay Devgan's deep camaraderie with director Rohit Shetty is well known in Bollywood.
After the stupendous success of both 'Golmaal' and 'Golmaal Returns', Ajay will be again seen in his friend's next movie.
And this time the project will be a much more personal matter for the actor as it is going to be his home production.
One of the main specialties of this untitled flick is that after a long break the bong beauty Bipasha is to play Ajay's lady love.
'Apaharan' is the only film in which Ajay and Bips were seen before as a couple.
The new film can also be called as a reunion project of the director and the leading lady as long back Bipasha had worked with Rohit in his debut film 'Zameen'.
Sanjay Dutt and Fardeen Khan are the other lead actors in the film that will hit the floor in March at Goa.
It is told that the untitled movie is designed to be a laugh riot.
So going by the way Rohit has established himself with his own brand of comedy, is there a need to explain what you guys must be expecting.
With a stunning red outfit and a different hair style, Asin the new sensation of the Tinsel Town is just looking fabulous on the cover of this month's Filmfare Magazine.
Fresh out from the colossal success of 'Ghanjini' and already the film lovers proclaiming 'London Dreams' as a flick to look out for, Asin cannot ask for more.
It is known in the film industries that Asin has a great knack for choosing the right project that will go on to become a blockbuster.
This time also Asin seems to be extremely confident about the way 'London Dreams' is going to win over the box office.
Speaking to the media at the launch of the new Filmfare, the south beauty said that in 'London Dreams' her paring with Salman Khan and Ajay Devgan has turned out to be great.
Asin also added that she is extremely lucky as her pairing with every other hero till now has been hailed for great screen chemistry.
Fed up with sending notices, Haji Mastan's daughter now plans to sue Balaji if they don't comply
Tired of waiting for a response, Haji Mastan's daughter, Shamshad Supari-wala is now contemplating legal action against Balaji for their film Once Upon A Time In Mumbai, based on her father's life, to be directed by Milan Luthria.
In a fresh notice sent last week, she has stated that no permission was sought from his kin before announcing the project featuring him. She has further stated that the script should be shown to her before the film rolls.
We wanna know
Says Shamshad, "There have been several media reports about the film and casting. The project was first announced as Haji Mastan. Later, however, it was shelved as we voiced our reservations. Then we heard that the film was changed to Once Upon A Time In Mumbai. We want to know how Haji Mastan will be depicted in the film."
She adds, "The producer's lawyers have replied that there is no such character in the film. Then why are the producer and director always talking about Haji Mastan with reference to the project in their interviews and the actor who can essay his role perfectly?"
Balaji did not want to comment on the matter.
Once Upon A Time In Mumbai will chronicle the socio-political landscape and the rise of organised crime in the city during the '70s. The three names that ruled during that period were Karim Lala, Haji Mastan and Varadrajan Mudaliar.
As reported ('Unravelling Haji Mastan'; Hitlist, November 5, 2007), Ekta Kapoor, at that time, had stated that certain family members had voiced apprehensions about the biopic on Haji Mastan.
Incidentally, Yash Chopra's classic Deewar (1975) had Amitabh Bachchan's character Vijay, a dock worker-turned-don inspired by Haji Mastan. But his daughter says, "My father had seen Deewar and did not exactly find Amitabh Bachchan's character modelled on him!"
Who was Haji Mastan?
The alleged smuggler-turned-good samaritan of the '70s was a celebrity in his own right. He knew the high and mighty of the times including those of Hindi filmdom.
He was always dressed in white with his trademark 555 State Express pack of cigarettes in hand. He later floated the Bharatiya Minorities Suraksha Mahasangh for the economically weaker sections. He passed away in 1994.
After Dutt was involved in a legal imbroglio and courted arrest, the film came to an absolute standstill. Meanwhile Abbas- Mustan got busy with their other projects, Naquaab and Race.
Says a source, "The producers want to put the comedy back on track, especially because Sanjay and Ajay will soon be seen together in Rohit Shetty's next project, produced by Devgan. Ashta- vinayak now feels that the pairing of both these stars will help their project too."
The Mr Fraud cast had shot for an elaborate song choreographed by Remo, apart from the several scenes shot in London.
Adds the source, "Now Abbas-Mustan have turned producers and their next directorial venture, the desi version of The Italian Job has yet to roll. The duo can take out time to complete this project.
The Ashtavinayak spokes-person maintains, "There has been talk on the Mr Fraud front, but at the moment it is in the initial stages."

Abbas-Mustan’s Mr Fraud has been revived after three years, but will be reshot. (The loss? Rs 8 crore)
Reveals our source, “Sanju’s legal issues and combination dates availability of all stars was the major hurdle Mr Fraud faced, for nearly three years. Now, everything is back on track.
But keeping the present times in mind, the producers, Shri Ashtavinayak Cine Visions, are however planning to reshoot most of the film.
Some portions will be shot in London too. Although the producers will stand to suffer a loss of a whopping Rs 8 crore, they are pretty confident of the script and don’t mind re-shooting.”
Says an official spokesperson of Shri Ashtavinayak, “Yes, we are indeed reviving Mr Fraud. Combination dates of all actors have been worked out.”
