The Government is planning to take action against tobacco and liquor companies indulging in 'surrogate' advertising in print, electronic and outdoor media.
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has recently issued a Notification amending the Cable Television Networks Rules, 1994 to the effect that no advertisement shall be permitted, which promotes directly or indirectly production, sale or consumption of cigarettes, tobacco products, wine, alcohol, liquor or other intoxicants.
Failure to comply will entail action as per the provisions of the Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act, 1995 and rules framed there-under.
As far as the Press in India is concerned, the Press Council of India has laid norms for Journalistic Conduct. The Press Council Act 1987 states that - no advertisement shall be published, which promotes directly or indirectly production, sale or consumption of cigarettes, tobacco products, wine, alcohol, liquor or other intoxicants.
Incidentally many a Bollywood actors appear in ads of products, which fall under surrogate advertising. Recently Suniel Shetty and Sanjay Dutt have been seen in the new Haywards Soda ad, whereas Ajay Devgan has done ads for Bagpiper Soda.
The actor never forgets to bring some pairs of high-heeled shoes on the TV sets of her reality show and keeps changing them in between shots, reports Ranjib Mazumder
Kajol is trying her best to match up to the height of her husband Ajay Devgan. The actress who is now judging Zee’s reality show Rock N Roll Family along with her husband Ajay and mother Tanuja, always wears high-heeled shoes to match her height with Ajay.
If the sources on the sets are to be believed, the actress is actually quite obsessed with high heels. The reason for that is simple: She (with a height of five feet two inches) doesn’t want to look short when she stands beside her husband Ajay in the same frame. Ajay is five feet 11 inches tall.
“Kajol is quite conscious of her height when it comes to making a TV appearance with her husband Ajay. This is the first time that she is doing a television show where both of them have to be on the same frame all the time. So, Kajol is never seen without wearing shoes with very high heels, and she loves to be seen with them. Not only that, she has a huge stock with her (of Stilettos and platform heeled shoes). She brings at least 10 pairs with her on the sets everyday. After every shot you will see her rushing to the make-up van to change her shoes. If you watch closely, you will see that though she doesn’t change her costume after each shot but she never forgets to change her shoes. Everyone on the sets is quite amused by Kajol’s antics,” said a unit member.
Satish Datt, the director of the show confirms, “Kajol is very conscious of her height. I guess, she is too much in love with her husband. She is very vibrant on the sets and every unit member just loves her warm and bubbly nature.”
Noida, Mar 18: T-Series, the producer and publisher of music and videos, today filed an FIR against film director Ram Gopal Verma and another person, alleging breach of contract by the Director.
According to T-Series executive Neeraj Kalyan, a Memorandum Of Understanding, 'Movie Assignment Deed', was signed between Ram Gopal Varma Films Pvt Ltd and Super Cassettes Industries Ltd (T-Series) on June 13, 2006.
Mr Kalyan said that according to the Deed, the director had given the audio/video rights of his next 14 films to T-Series, including 'Aag', 'Darwaza Bandh Rakho', 'Nishabd' and 'Shiva'.
However, Verma sold the rights of 'Aag' to another company after T-Series had already spent Rs 1,40,00,000 for the publicity of the movie, thereby violating the agreement, he added.
T-Series filed the FIR against Verma under Sections 409, 420, 421, 422, 385, 506 and 120(b) of the IPC.
RGV bekommt wohl tierisch Ärger wegen Vertragsbruch.
Punctuality is a word that’s often not synonymous with Indians and especially our Bollywood stars. However, Ajay Devgan, Kajol and Tanuja—the three judges of Zee TV’s Rock ‘N’ Roll Family—have proved it wrong.
The trio arrives on the sets much before the scheduled time and wind things off quickly. The Devgans are never fond of keeping the crew waiting and thus they make it a point to be punctual every time.
Director Satish Datt, “We are amazed to see their professionalism. All three of them arrive before time. Ajay comes half an hour early, while Kajol and Tanuja take just 90 and 60 minutes respectively to get their make-up done.”
Adding further, he says, “Ajay and Kajol had made it clear in the beginning that they wouldn’t stretch the shoot beyond 7.00 pm as they have to attend to their daughter Nysa. The scheduled lunch break is for 30 minutes but we usually stretch it to one hour. However, our judges are ready within 30 minutes and request the shoot to commence immediately. Also, there’s always a 15 minute changeover break between two performances but they remain seated patiently waiting for the next contestants.”
The Devgans sure know the true meaning of time and tide wait for no man.

Ajay Devgan's directorial debut U Me Aur Hum hits theatres on April 11th. The film's music by Vishal Bhardwaj has already caught on big time especially the track 'Jee Le' sung by Adnan Sami and Shreya Ghosal. The dance number has Ajay Devgan and Kajol doing the salsa aboard a luxury liner and there were many unforgettable moments which took place while filming this song. We at Bollywood Hungama exclusively bring you some of the best moments which took place during the making of the 'Jee Le' track from U Me Aur Hum.
It seems like Ajay Devgan was quite the taskmaster on the sets and wanted to get things done in his own unique way. This explains him coaxing wifey Kajol to do the tough salsa moves again and again until she got it right. Kajol didn't seem really excited at the idea of being thrown up six feet in the air by a group of dancers. In fact, she once ended up breaking the nose of one of the phirang dancers as she came down but Ajay was not the one to let go of her so easily. After giving some takes, Ajay finally decided to retain the first take much to Kajol's amusement.
The most talked about film even before its launch London Dreams will finally kick off in July reveal our sources close to the camp. The film has undergone some changes of course. It will not be directed by Raj Kumar Santoshi as we had reported earlier, rather Vipul Shah has taken over the directorial reins.
The casting too has undergone some alteration and it is learned that Arjun Rampal will replace Ajay Devgan and Salman Khan will head the lead. Katrina Kaif will be the female lead of the film and Vipul is finalizing another heroine for the film. The official news will be out in a few days.
Ajay Devgan lost his cool when he had to do 14 retakes for one scene only because Anjana Sukhani couldn't stop laughing
Recently Ajay Devgan lost his temper with actress Anjana Sukhani when she couldn't get her dialogues and expressions right while shooting for Golmaal Returns. Anjana, who plays Anil Kapoor's love interest in Salaam-e-Ishq, kept laughing, much to the annoyance of Ajay. Our source from Golmaal Returns said, “Ajay, Shreyas Talpade and Anjana were shooting a comedy scene for Golmaal Returns at Film City recently. Although Anjana was supposed to mouth funny dialogues, she was required to keep a straight face while doing so.”
However, Anjana kept breaking into peals of laughter thereby messing up the shot. Ajay and Shreyas too laughed with her a few times but eventually didn't find the situation as funny as Anjana did.
“After five retakes, director Rohit Shetty too lost his cool. Rohit told Anjana that he'd start shooting only after she laughs to her heart's content saving him the trouble of another retake. But even that did not work and Anjana invariably started laughing while delivering her dialogues. After this continued for 14 takes, Ajay and Shreyas were really irritated with her,” the source said.
That's when Ajay lost his patience and reprimanded Anjana. The source added, “Ajay warned Anjana that if she did not shoot the scene seriously, they'd cut her out of it completely. Anjana ki hansi tabse gayab ho gayi.”
Anjana too confirmed the story and said, “Yes it's true that Ajay warned me to get serious for the shot. The dialogues were so funny that I just couldn't keep a straight face during the shot. I took Ajay's warning in the right spirit and our next take was instantly okayed.”
Real life Bollywood couples seem to be using their personal relationships for professional purposes. They seem to have discovered that two is a powerful number that can be translated into big bucks with the right amount of planning
... Ajay Devgan and Kajol
Ajay Devgan and Kajol who have been endorsing brands together reportedly take home between six crore and eight crore, are doing a reality show on television and are reuniting on screen in a new film. While their on-screen chemistry usually doesn't make the box-office ring, their off-screen relationship spells magic for advertisers. They were one of the first few Bollywood couples to front endorsements together, charging 80 to 90 million rupees per ad.
Kajol, 32 and Ajay, 38, have hawked products from banks to washing machines to wireless broadband. Their stable, happy marriage is a big draw for advertisers. ... The media also plays a big role in reinforcing the curiosity factor among the audience, who want to know what is happening in a celebrity’s relationship and the ads act as a teaser to the same. Trade analysts feel the ‘comfort level’ of such couples attracts offers. The ‘couple’ effect is what vouches for the endorsements, also availability of such couples to work and spend time with each other. ... Besides serving as mutual arm candies, Bollywood’s power ‘couples’ are making forays into endorsing brands and even doing films together. In an industry that survives on number crunching, is ‘two’ the new favourite number?
Actress Anjana Sukhani had a tough time controlling her laughter in a comedy scene with Ajay Devgan.
The scene for Rohit Shetty’s comedy film Golmaal Returns was being shot at Film City recently. The scene involved actors Ajay Devgan, Shreyas Talpade and Anjana Sukhani. Anjana had a funny dialogue which she had to say with a serious expression.
However, whenever Anjana said her dialogue she invariably ended up laughing.
According to reports, Ajay and Shreyas did not mind when it happened for 3-4 times. In fact they laughed with Anjana. But when she couldn’t control laughing even after more than a dozen re-takes, the actors and the director lost their patience.
It was then, Ajay Devgan gave Anjana one of his serious and intimidating looks and told her to stop laughing and get serious about work.
Devgan’s gesture worked and Anjana gave the next shot perfectly.
Well, not for nothing is Devgan turning to direction.
... The quality of promos has improved incredibly. Of late, I am very impressed with the slick look of U ME AUR HUM and the just-launched promo of BHOOTHNATH. I've always maintained that the audience makes its mind to watch a film or skip it, depending on how the promos excite them. RACE is sure to fetch a deafening start and I expect the same for U ME AUR HUM and BHOOTHNATH. ...

Ajay Devgan's directorial debut U, Me Aur Hum will hit theatres on April 11. The film’s music, composed by Vishal Bhardwaj, has already caught on, especially the track Jee le sung by Adnan Sami and Shreya Ghosal. The dance number has Ajay and Kajol dancing the salsa aboard a luxury liner. And, as in most shoots, there were several unforgettable moments while filming.
It seems Ajay was quite the taskmaster on the sets and wanted to get things done his way. He coaxed wife Kajol to do the tough salsa moves again and again until she got it right. Kajol wasn’t too excited at the idea of being thrown up six feet in the air by a group of dancers; in fact, she broke one of the dancer’s nose on her descent. But Ajay did not give up easily. However, after several takes, he finally decided to retain Kajol’s first take, much to her amusement.
But Kajol was not the only one who had a tough time. While shooting the song, Ajay got hit in the face by a lady dancer's sandal. The poor girl was worried about how he would take it. But though Ajay did get hit quite badly, he didn't get upset. He carried on shooting as if nothing had happened. That’s what we call a good sport.
Ajay Devgan and Kajol relax on the deck of the cruise liner while shooting for U Me Aur Hum while the Helicam which is controlled by a remote is seen above. This is the first time that a Helicam, which is a mini-helicopter equipped with a camera, is being used for a Bollywood shoot.
The Helicam seen here in close view, was used for some vital sequences in U Me Aur Hum. Ajay Devgan who had earlier used a Helmet camera (where the cameraman puts a camera in his helmet and jumps from a parachute) for Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha, imported this gadget from China. ...
Do you know what happens when you agree to do a romantic film for an actor who is known for his action and stunts? You land up doing daredevil stunts even if there is romance everywhere.
Trust J to do make me do something like this. For me it was not a stunt, its stupidity with a capital S. This was for a song sequence. The mood is nice, romantic and mellow. The music soothing and I am supposed to be dancing.
There are 10 dancers and they throw me up, I am supposed to lean across and catch the flowers. Now we are not on terra firma.. meaning on land. We are on a ship and if the dancers throw me with extra enthusiasm, I will take a flying leap into the Indian Ocean.
You actually have to hear the tale of what happened thereafter. Conveniently conceived by the choreographer, Ashley and director, my very own dearest darling hubby... all the two thought of was, the beautiful dance step, but they forgot to take into consideration the actress who would be performing it.
Take 1: I got the movement wrong. Take 2: When I landed on my feet, my elbow crashed into a dancer’s jaw. He had to be excused from the set. Take 3: I fall hard on the wooden deck. I am completely winded. I am sure I am black and blue in most places. Take 4: My elbow hit one of the dancer’s nose. And it BREAKS. Second dancer is now injured. Take 5: The dancer who is supposed to catch me after I twirl in the air, crashes on the deck with me. He has sprained his wrist. Another one bites the dust. Take 6: Bone weary, the dancers and I all collapse. Nobody has the energy to get up.
That was it. I told J I am not doing another take. So J had to do a massive job at the edit to get a semblance of a good shot. And that shot is there in the trailer, believe me, if you look closely, I actually look petrified. There are no feelings of love on my mind.
There is much speculation about whom Vipul Shah will cast in his next directorial venture, London Dreams . While most insist that Vipul's fave Akshay is going to be a part of this one, Vipul surprises us with, "No, Akshay isn't in the film!" To set the record straight once and for all, Shah continues, "Salman Khan and Ajay Devgan will be my protagonists. Everyday, some paper or the other gives out wrong information. Hopefully, no one will have a doubt now."
Now that we are set on the actors, which actress is going to be cast in this one? "Again, it's not Katrina, like it's being speculated, we haven't even approached her. The decision about the female lead still has to be made," informs Vipul.
Considering that Ajay and Sallu rocked the box office and the audiences with Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam , looks like Vipul is 'dreaming' big, already!
But spare a thought for the choreographer of this film. while Salman who is known for his Baraati dance steps, Ajay has two left feet.. This will be worth a watch..
While we talk about success and fame in the world of films, there is also a flip side to it where some really talented heroes have never been recognized despite their hits and stellar performances. Going back, it is Dharmendra who spent almost forty years before getting a lifetime achievement award. Today, we have many stars in the form of Pankaj Kapoor, Ajay Devgan, Akshaye Khanna, Ranvir Shorey, Vinay Pathak and others who are simply sidelined. Source says that it is due to the media projection and the choice of the actors not to be vociferous about their acts which works against their favors. However, real talent can never be ignored and let us hope the day is not far when these real stars get their due recognition.
