This sounds a bit strange but it happened, however it is not any street fight or brawl but the sandal of a lady dancer that hit Ajay Devgan and that too during the shoot of a song during the making of the film 'U, Me Aur Hum'. Apparently, this was the same song where Kajol reluctantly agreed to be thrown six feet in air as part of a salsa move on Ajay's insistence and she ended up breaking the nose of a dancer on her landing. However, Ajay took all this as a matter of fact and got on with the remaining part of the shooting. Call it the mark of a true professional?

Kajol and Ajay Devgan want couples to rediscover the 'Hum' within them
March 23, 2008 (Sawf News) - Ajay Devgan and Kajol, who have been doing the rounds of reality TV shows passionately promoting their forthcoming film U Me And Hum, say they hope to make couples rediscover the 'Hum' within themselves through their film.
The husband and wife team, who are appearing together on screen 8 years after Raju Chacha in 2000, becomes animated when asked to explain the rather strange title of the film, which marks Ajay's debut as a director.
While the ‘U' and 'Me' in the title is easy to understand and symbolize the individuality of the couple, 'Hum' symbolizes their togetherness and stresses the need for them to act as one every now and then.
Devgan also explains the tagline for the film - 'Sometimes the greatest journey is the distance between two people.'
When two people marry they tend to think they have covered the distance between themselves but "you never cover the distance. You just keep taking a step forward every day - through love, through fights, through understanding, through not understanding, through situations, through problems. It is a growth which keeps happening…"
"This film is not made with the intention of being a sermon about relationships. Nor is it made to prove my talent as a director," says Devgan.
"It is a completely commercial and entertaining film. I am not trying to prove a point that I am a pseudo intellectual," he adds.
Aksed if there was an element of rediscovery for him and Kajol through the film, his response was interesting.
"Through the film I have tried to project ideals that I really believe in. I may not have achieved those ideals to the full extent. The important thing is to believe in them and make the effort to achieve them," he says.
"The idea is to create characters that you want to be like and then make the effort to be like them.
"I have not tried to achieve it through verbose drama but through normal life situations, humor and emotions."
Devgan succinctly explains his goal.
"I will think that I have succeeded with the film when a couple watching the film is holding each other's hands at the end of it."

Bipasha Basu may be the epitome of today's woman but in her heart she wants to transport into another era and work in a costume drama.
And her newest project - Raj Kumar Santoshi's Ashok - may be her chance to do so.
"I'm really excited about doing the costume drama. To go back in time and recreate an era and character are challenging. And the character of Tishayraksha is certainly not uni-dimensional. I'm in the entire film. The narrative is so captivating," Bipasha told IANS.
And she is also ga-ga over her latest director. "I think Raj Santoshi is a great visionary. Look at the performances he gets out of his actors! And to cast someone like me who otherwise has such a contemporary image in the Mauryan era requires guts," says the sultry actress.

Sighs Bipasha, "Madhur Bhandarkar, Rituparno Ghosh, Raj Santoshi... these are women's directors I've always wanted to work with. I've worked with two of them. Now hopefully I'll be working with the third." ...

Vivacious Kajol and ultra sober Ajay make one of the most romantic real-life Jodis in Bollywood. Kajol at her mischievous best sluicing down Ajay in the above picture says it all. The couple was spotted having a gala time playing Holi at their Juhu residence.
Looking at the scene one can surely appraise the beautiful relationship the couple share. The couple will also been seen onscreen soon in the romantic flick U, Me Aur Hum. Wonder, what must've been the scene on the sets of the film considering the fact that Ajay himself is the director of the film.
I love food but I am very particular about what I eat. While we were on the cruise, shooting for J’s directorial debut film, U, Me aur Hum, we had no choice but to eat whatever was available. It is prohibited to bring outside food on the cruise and so we were restricted to eating all our meals on board. The food was bland without any spices or masala, so after a point we just got bored.
After a few days we were told that the ship would dock in Goa for some time. Since it was a rule that you could not get outside food on board the ship, I thought we had to do something... we got special permission to get some local goan cuisine.
The boys had ordered goan fish curry and I was salivating. The thought of some masala food and fish was manna from heaven. But as luck would have it, the food took forever to reach us.
We used to get a call, haa abhi food ban gaya. Then another call, food pack ho raha hai..then food nikal gaya hai.. By then three hours had passed and I was so sleepy that I crashed.
Yes..thats the tragedy. By 11pm, I had fallen asleep. The following morning I had a 6am call time and I did not want to appear with bags under my eyes. Finally there were just five determined fish lovers who waited and ate the grub. And as for me I had to wait until we reached Mumbai to have some wholesome Indian food.
So for the sake of looking good on camera, I sacrificed my yummy goan fish curry and rice. I just thought that you, my audience should realize that for the sake of our films we can go to any lengths... So I hope you appreciate my effort and love U, Me aur Hum.
... Name six comedy films you can watch again and again. Padosan, Golmaal, Bombay to Goa, Andaz Apna Apna, Bheja Fry, and Dhamaal. But for some reason I also like Sunday. That makes it seven. ...
Vipul Shah has decided against casting any established actress opposite the two major stars of his new film LONDON DREAMS -- Salman Khan and Ajay Devgan. Initially, there was talk that Vipul was casting Katrina Kaif, but the rumor mills now point towards Kareena Kapoor.
“It's not Katrina, it's not Kareena, it's not Priyanka,” Vipul Shah sets the record straight, “It's a new face for LONDON DREAMS.” A rank newcomer opposite two established names, why? “It's the requirement of the role. I cannot settle for any actress who has been exposed to the audiences before. The role demands a fresh face and a fresh face it will be,” he states.
Vipul begins filming LONDON DREAMS in the last week of June. Subsequently, Vipul will take a break [for few weeks only] since his ambitious project SINGH IS KINNG is slated for release in August, but will resume shooting once again after its release. “Both Salman and Ajay were co-operation personified when I told them that I would take a few days off in between,” he says.
Two years after it was first announced, the Salman Khan -starrer London Dreams is finally taking shape.
Initially, it was Rajkumar Santoshi who was supposed to direct this film. But as is normally the case with Santoshi, his attention kept getting diverted towards other projects like Halla Bol and ‘London Dreams’ always remained on the backburner.
Now, the project is being revived under a new director. Vipul Amrutlal Shah of Namastey London has taken over the film and will begin shooting in the middle of this year.
Salman Khan still retains his place in the project. Ajay Devgan will play a parallel role. The two actors have previously worked together in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam .
Contrary to expectations, Vipul Shah’s favourite Akshay Kumar won’t be a part of ‘London Dreams’.
For the role of the film’s leading ladies, many names like Katrina Kaif and Kareeena Kapoor were touted in media. But Shah has clarified that the film will have a newcomer.
Shah says the role of the film’s leading lady is such that it requires a fresh face, someone whom the audiences have not seen on the big screen before. That lucky girl has not been finalized yet. The hunt, however, is on.
‘London Dreams’ will go on the floors from June this year.
Despite sterling acting jobs in gripping dramas like Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Zakhm, The Legend of Bhagat Singh, Company, Gangaajal, Bhoot, Raincoat and Omkara, the two-time National Award winner turned director (with U Me Aur Hum) finds himself on this not-so-flattering list.
Perhaps his tacky turn in Cash, Sunday and Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag has got something to do with it. Readers, while acknowledge his excellence in intense fare, fault Devgan's inability to click in comedies and term him 'one-dimensional'.
There was a time when filmstars thought a hundred times before making an appearance on the small screen. Getting into TV, whether in a serial or as host of a show, was a huge decision.
That’s because it was often viewed as a step down. The general perception was that only those actors took to TV whose film careers were going nowhere or who were paid an exorbitant amount. Well, all of this is a thing of the past now.
Just look around and you’ll realise the entire Bollywood has entered television. Right from top actors to music directors to actresses who were on a maternity break... everyone’s descended on Tellyland.
During the release of a film all stars, sometimes with their directors, appear in reality shows as guests to promote their movies. It may be just a one-off episode but mind you, the TRPs do go zooming that particular day. Naturally, when a Salman Khan takes off his shirt on TV, who’s gonna miss it?
The rather low-profile couple Ajay Devgan and Kajol too are currently judges on TV, and it’s not for one episode but an entire show. The timing couldn’t have been better for them with their movie coming up soon. Raveena Tandon is back judging a kids’ show. And so is Sonali Bendre, who’s with Madhur Bhandarkar, as a judge in another reality show. ... So what’s drawing the filmwallahs to the small screen in such large numbers? Money sure is the big draw. That apart, Bollywood has realised it can’t ignore the tremendous reach of television. “People have also realised the importance of promotions. They’ve realised that apart from working hard they also need to be seen beyond the silver screen,” says trade analyst Taran Adarsh. “That’s exactly why stars who were elusive like Aamir Khan, Ajay Devgan and Kajol are going all out to promote their movies which is a very good thing,” says Adarsh. Meanwhile, audiences are glad. “More the merrier,” they say.
GOLMAAL RETURNS is 10X more fun than GOLMAAL - Anjana Sukhani - March 25
Shooting of GOLMAAL RETURNS is still on but Anjana Sukhani, one of the four leading ladies in this Rohit Shetty directed film, is already gushing about her mega film.
She is confident that the film will not just hit the bull's eye, but also surpass the business of the first in the series, GOLMAAL, which released two years back.
"There isn't a moment when I am not having fun doing the film, whether in front of camera or behind it", says Anjana. "The film is hilarious and total 'dhamaal'. There is such an immense entertainment quotient to the film that audience won't have a breather to relax and catch their breath", opines the actress.
One hears that this time around family audience is being targeted rather than just youth. "You are right. This one is going to be a complete family entertainer. You get a strong sense of family virtues imbibed along with the fun elements in the film. In fact I can confidently say that GOLMAAL RETURNS is 10 times more fun than GOLMAAL", says Anjana positively.
Talking about her other projects, Anjana states,"Apart from GOLMAAL RETURNS, I am also working on ALLAH KE BANDAY. The film's shoot is mostly wrapped up with just a couple of more songs to go. It is another exciting project where I am paired with Sharman Joshi. It is an adventure film directed by debutant Farouque Kabir. I am happy to be in the company of elite people, what with actors like Naseruddin Shah, Atul Kulkarni and Anupam Kher around."
Though ALLAH KE BANDAY is expected to release earlier, GOLMAAL RETURNS arrives this Diwali. The film is a mega starrer with actors like Ajay Devgan, Arshad Warsi, Shreyas Talpade, Tusshar Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Anjana Sukhani, Amrita Arora and Celina Jaitley sharing a common platform. The film arrives under the banner of Shree Ashtavinayak Cinevision Ltd. who were also the makers of the original GOLMAAL.
London Dreams has become a much talked about film — even before going to the floors! When it was first announced, Salman Khan, Ajay Devgan and Priyanka Chopra were set to star. The film was then mysteriously put on hold. Now, the producers have finally revived the project, and speculation is on about who will form the cast. Apparently, director Vipul Shah tried his best to sign Akshay Kumar, but the khiladi refused due to unavailability of dates. He then approached Saif Ali Khan, who enthusiastically accepted the part. So, that confirms Saif’s and Ajay Devgan’s presence in the film.
But who will they romance? The hunt for the lead actress is on.
Ever imagined Ajay Devgan and Kajol with white streaks of hair? Well, it is your chance to see them in such a get up on screen in their home production U ME AUR HUM.
In the film, Ajay and Kajol play old characters when they meet for the first time. This is where Ajay narrates the story about three couples - Sumit Raghavan - Divya Dutta, Karan Khanna - Isha Sharvani while the third couple is imagined to be younger Ajay and Kajol.
After the song and dance routine, the theatrical promo of the film is out and there are two words to describe the experience - classy and dramatic! Devgan's hold behind the camera is extra strong as he fills the frames with several interesting moments, which promise to make U ME AUR HUM and engaging cinematic outing.
The term 'Thriller', as per the filmy dictionary means the license to entertain with some racy pulsating edge of the seat drama! Well, Bollywood has seen many of these in the recent months gone by. Of these, some hit the Bull's Eye, whereas many others bit the dust! ... Cash: Oodles of oomph-matic style sans any substantial substance aptly describes Anubhav Sinha's thriller flick Cash in totality. Cash joins the bandwagon of the Indian films which are well-known for their abysmal quality. Cash failed to cash in on its pre-release hype at the B-O. The music probably was the only saving grace for this multi-starrer. The film is about a mad race behind diamonds between Ajay Devgan and his gang (Riteish Deshmukh, Zayed Khan, Esha Deol, and Dia Mirza) and the underworld don Sunil Shetty. The idiotic angle is that, till the end Shamita Shetty who claims to be a top security officer never realizes that Ajay is the mastermind behind all the thefts. His pretentious writer-profession manages to keep her in wraps. Some officer she is...wonder if she was given any training before taking on such a role. Won't be too shocked if the Crime Branch sues the filmmaker for portraying them as so dumb. As for the end, if you happen to watch it then fill us in on the details. ...
